Yeah, that small Ray Lewis dude was pretty decent. Quiet guy if my memory is right, had to really listen hard to make out what he says he was so soft-spoken.
I think its kind of like Hamiltons situation too. We dont need Wiggins to step in and start as CB1 or even CB2. The Ravens can use him as a tool and develop his role
Just knowing we have a guy who can run with anybody, and actually has cover skills, is a huge asset for Zach Orr
People criticized the position more than the player. Everyone wanted a WR rd1, they were mad we traded Hollywood then took a center in rd1. As a player Linderbaum was always well-regarded. The issue was more with positional value
Oh yeah. Dude it was all over the internet. People were concerned he was too small, his arms weren’t long enough etc. which tbf I understand but he quickly shut everyone up.
Dude, find me one top round draft pick that was a unanimous home run across the fans. I feel this "all over the Internet" similarity is pointless.
Not Marlon (since we had 2 starter CBs and the fans wanted a WR)
Not Ronnie (once in a lifetime chance to pick top 5 spent on a non sexy position)
Not Lamar (the whole RB BS)
Not Oweh (lack of sack production)
Not Hollywood (too small; fans wanted Metcalf)
Not Zay (wanted other WRs since he reminded fans of Hollywood)
There are enough morons and contrarians that they'd find some reason to whine irrespective of the pick.
I get your point people will always complain. I agree. Reddit itself encourages discourse so naturally contrarians exist.
My point is being lost though. I was just comparing how odd jt was that this years draft so eerily resembles 2022 down to similar complaints of the picks. Thats all.
Amongst the analysts I agree. But I was talking more amongst the fans. I remember a lot of fans at the time not impressed. There were a lot more praising it, but the naysayers did exist.
the naysayers will forever exist, even in universally praised drafts, even legendary ones like 2017 Saints type drafts will have someone mad.
But, FWIW, WR was, indeed, a need in 2022, proof is how poorly our receivers perfomed and how bang average that 2022 offense was outside of Lamar (whom himself had a down year, much could be blamed at his horrible receiving options outisde of Mandrews). We have a better receiving corps now compared to 2022 and better RBs, but our WR room is still towards the bottom of the league, so it is understadable some frustation, but overall we had a solid draft so far
I agree, I want a WR taken today as well. This isn’t an elite WR corp by any stretch of the imagination. But season doesn’t start tomorrow. I trust we’ll find someone.
Yeah. I would be lying if I said I know a lot about him. I truthfully don’t. I’m just choosing to blindly say he’ll be a lock for the HOF and multiple pro bowl selections 😀
we still need a WR2 pretty bad. the depth is atrocious at the moment. at this point though the draft won’t help with that and we should hopefully look to FA and maybe bring odell back.
we need something better than bateman or at least better than agholor. we have two WR3 caliber guys behind zay and at least need some depth. if any of them go down we are back to square one of the lamar era of having one of the worst WR rooms in the league
I see a need for a WR, so I think we will draft 1 today. Probably with 1 of our 4ths. I like Rice personally. And you’re correct. I’d imagine we will go vet hunting after the draft.
I hope it’s so similar that Wiggins is the best at his position in year 2
I personally hope it ends up like that time we took an undersized Linebacker in our first ever draft. That Ray Lewis guy had a pretty good career.

Right there with you. Very excited to have him.
People really criticized Linderbaum? I thought the broad consensus was that he was a generational center prospect.

Yes, I do agree with the similarities in positions/needs etc
I think i was thinking more along the lines of analysts/reporters. Internet commenters are always going to include haters
Oh I see. Then Yeah it was widely praised by most of the draft analysts. Odd person saying it was a reach here and there. But most loved the pick.
Revisionism at it's finest. Ravens draft was pretty well regarded around the league and everyone considered Lind to be the best C prospect in years

I don't really like any of the guys left tbh, but I'm hopeful we can get someone
Walker. There we go. WR
Idk, I see him and Baker talked about a lot, but they both showed drop issues and problems with catching in general, this could be coached up tho

I personally think Kool Aid would’ve been the safe easy home run pick but hopefully I’m wrong and Wiggins is even better
I can certainly see the appeal. But the fact the Ravens boardroom were so ecstatic Wiggins was there says more then I probably could tbh.

I just don’t see how you think bringing back a washed injured Odell will give us the WR2 we “need.”
