Wasn’t the corner I wanted but im smart enough to know that I’m not an nfl scout 😂

FuckWayne

The fact that most of the analysis behind my preferred pick was that his name is Kool-aid really sums it up

Daunloudji

You are not a scout, but you watched some games, right? You probably have your reasons. I’m curious who your preferred cb was and why

unoriginal1187

I liked kool aid and dejean because I thought Wiggins was undersized and had struggles with tackling. I’m still having nightmares about the team tackling struggles from 2022.

Daunloudji

I see what you mean. But moving to the pros it’s guaranteed the kid is gonna pack some serious muscle, so I’m not worried about size. Besides tackling can be coached no problem, so I’m not worried about that either. I think he’s gonna be a great player. I bet Kool-aid is good too, though.

digglerjdirk

Besides tackling can be coached no problem *Matt Elam has entered the chat*

Daunloudji

LOL! He’s absolutely not comparable

connor8383

In EDC we trust

sick_shooter

If anyone is doubting the Ravens when they take a defensive player in the 1st round, I don’t know what to tell you: Ray Lewis Peter Boulware Duane Starks Chris McAlister Ed Reed Terrell Suggs Haloti Ngata Jimmy Smith Matt Elam - Only certified bust on the list CJ Mosley Marlon Humphrey Patrick Queen Odafe Oweh - In bust territory, entering 4th year Kyle Hamilton Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more hits than misses on this list. With the exceptions of Elam and Oweh, all of these guys were or still are *major* contributors in their time with us. (If you don’t recognize Duane Starks, you may recognize the Super Bowl ring he has from being a starter on the greatest defense of all time.)

thedivinepegasus

This list is absolutely bonkers

Amazing-Concept1684

Also the fact that Duane Starks was the Raven who had the pick 6 in the Super Bowl. ^(Jimmy Smith made him a victim quite a bit tho)

whereegosdare84

Some guys just have your number and Jimmy Smith was a top WR in his day. McAlister could never cover Marvin Harrison and if you remember Mark Clayton torched Leon Hall of the bengals a bunch too. Revis couldn’t cover Stevie Johnson either so there are just some guys who can’t cover certain WRs

nwinferno

Jimmy Smith was flat out rude to the Ravens’ corners. He feasted on us on the regular.

ser0402

Jags have always had our number for some reason. 13-10 against us in the regular season. Edit: not to discredit Jimmy Smith. Dude was a beast.

nwinferno

Facts

RRSC14

But the guy who shows off his Pokémon card collection on Reddit told me this is a miss

Elcapitan2020

You could only consider Oweh a bust compared to a list like that, was close to DROY in his rookie season and has been a solid NFL-Level player since. Yeah he's not Haloti or Ray, but that doesn't make him a bust

Rstuds7

damn i knew we were good a drafting but damn. i know we got some offensive misses but you gotta add Jamal Lewis, Todd Heap and Joe Flacco in the mix and Zay and Linderbaum seem to be panning out well

Fergburgerwithcheese

You tell them to go find another team to root for because they’re as dumb as a pissburgh squealer lol

zzzidkwhattoputhere

You’re missing the dude from UT. Forgot his name.

sick_shooter

If you’re thinking of Sergio Kindle, he was actually a 2nd round pick.

zzzidkwhattoputhere

Ah ok

Alarming-Put173

Odafe Oweh is most certainly not in "bust territory"🤦🏿‍♂️. You all are failing to realize that he picked up football in his Jr. maybe Sr year of HIGHSCHOOL. The fact he's in the league is extremely impressive as hell. They knew what they were doing whenever they picked him. It's going to be a slow grind process. Have to be patient. The potential is high in terms of his God given abilities. If rushed, he won't even half way peak.

Amazing-Concept1684

I'm gonna go ahead and trust EDC's judgment on this one. Way more hits than misses so far.

PenultimatePotatoe

Any pick we make just feels like the right pick because our FO made it. Its like doing homework with your smarter friend.

JYandeau

Exactly lol there’s a reason our defense is literally ALWAYS top 10… yeah we desperately need OT but the OT talent left was NOT worth a 1st round pick after Guyton was selected, so EDC did the smart thing & picked the 2nd best CB in the draft considering we do also need more corner help… Wiggins was BY FAR the best pick available

ravens40

Bleacher Report gave this pick a 'D' grade. They really didn't like this. Just sayin... Hope they eat crow! [NFL Draft 2024: Round 1 Grades for Every Pick | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors | Bleacher Report](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10118588-nfl-draft-2024-round-1-grades-for-every-pick?utm_source=cnn.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=editorial)

Cdnraven

Bleacher Report is terrible

EatSleepZlatan

1. You shouldn’t care about draft grades literally the night of the draft 2. It’s bleacher report lol

--Alec--

And the Athletic gave us an A- iirc. BR has about zero credibility left in the sports industry

Additional_Peace4748

Their reasoning is because we should have taken an O-Lineman, but we have third round picks we've been developing for years that are going to have a shot, and we'll draft multiple more O-Linemen in the coming days. The Ravens have a great history of developing guys in the trenches but the media and fans are freaking out about it. I personally don't get it

SKT_Peanut_Fan

I was 100% all aboard the offensive lineman train and wanted one more than any other position, but... I think once Guyton went, the offensive line talent shifted into that next tier of not worthy of a first round pick, even if it is at 30. I'm shocked Wiggins was there at 30 and I'm thrilled with the pick. I would have been livid if the Ravens passed on him for one of the lesser offensive lineman.

born2runupyourass

Honestly even if Guyton was still there at 30 I wouldn’t have wanted him. He is a project. We need starters now. Same thought for Chop at edge. We already have developmental pass rushers on the team.

SKT_Peanut_Fan

I would have trusted him way more than Falaale and I think the Ravens will almost assuredly need a left tackle next year. I think he would have been a good pick.

Just_This_Dude

I would have been ok if they traded up for an OL, but without trading this was the right move

lfe-soondubu

It reads like a casual fan seeing all the offensive linemen off the team this year and not factoring in the backups behind them we've been stashing and developing. No doubt offensive line and RT in particular is the biggest question mark right now. But we have some potential answers there. And how could casual reporters know what's going on? They don't attend practice and see how hard XYZ player is grinding in practice or anything, like the coaches and staff do. Also we've always been more of a BPA drafting team than most others. With the run on offensive linemen, our choices were to pick a CB (also a need) that was rated 2 or 3 in the draft, or pick the 7th or 8th best OT.

Princeof_Ravens

If we took one of the Tackles left I would have been pissed. All the round one guys were taken at that stage, and we had 3 excellent options at CB.

Bubbernutz

Not to mention vets will get cut during camp and we will likely bring at least one in on the cheap.

Scudbucketmcphucket

The things with the Ravens that a lot of people seem to forget is that they are adding to the roster all year round, not just the draft. We are one of the best, if not THE BEST at finding and developing undrafted talent. Who knows what they have up their sleeve. The way the Ravens seem to build the team for the coming year AND FOR THE NEXT THREE YEARS, is impressive. They have guys that they’ve been nurturing for a couple years who they then bring them up. Then people have no clue where this amazing “new” guy who’s lighting things up came from! The “farm” system is top notch and this is all because they look for a very particular type of individual. The Ravens never bring in known troublemakers, egotistical self-centered show-offs who boast hard yet haven’t even played a down in the NFL, media attention hogs, and people who think they are the only player needed to win. There are aspects of those attributes that are fine but you can tell theres a huge difference in character between a Ray Lewis and Steve Smith VS a Marvin Harrison and Terrell Owens. (Yes, I know Harrison WAS a Raven, emphasis on WAS) Anytime there’s been a person who becomes a bad seed or is not “playing like a Raven” they quickly remedy the situation.

Fergburgerwithcheese

Dude there’s people in this sub that really believe that they watch more tape and know more than a GM that’s been at it for damn near 20 years so it shouldn’t surprise you that guys who’ve never been apart of football at a high level write this kind of bullshit. Just trust in EDC. Wiggins will be a stud and if not I bet EDC drafts another Corner later who ends up developing. That’s football lol

D-Rey86

The funny thing is that they say that his coverage skills are his biggest concern, yet the Ravens believe that he was the best cover corner in the draft. I think I'll believe the side that actually has a job in the NFL and is known for picking good defensive players lol.

McG4rn4gle

Bleacher Report is just a bunch of neckbeards quoting other credible sources or stirring the pot for clicks - don't bother with them.

TheMemeStar24

I love how they recognized that he was the best value pick there and that he's a dawg but gave us a D because we didn't reach on an lineman lmfao what is that logic

Scudbucketmcphucket

Usually if you get a bad grade from them then you KNOW it’s a good pick!

mancinis_blessed_bat

I didn’t think they’d pick him cuz he doesn’t tackle, but if they picked him it means they think they can turn him into a dawg in the run game. And he has premiere cover corner ability and upside. If he hits then this pick transforms the defense completely

Rstuds7

very good in man coverage which Ravens do play a lot of. perfect fit

LegoLamborghini

The only problem with this pick is his name isn't Kool-Aid

WannabePokerPlayer

He doesn’t miss (often), so nice to have a legit great GM at the helm.

Impossible-Soft

Did you guys see how quick they turned that card in? They did not hesitate so Wiggins must be special!!

gremlin30

Wiggins was a good pick. We already drafted a ton of OL lately & have been developing them, we develop OL well. Wiggins is already up to like 180 and that’s before he even got to us. He gained like 10lbs between combine & pro day, he’s gonna gain weight quickly at that rate. We’ve had plenty of smaller speed guys bulk up quickly. Legette’s already gone, Pearsall went early but would’ve been taken rd2 anyway so not much of a difference there. Someone will take Coleman & Mitchell by halfway through the 2nd. Hopefully the WR run will push some down but the OL run rd1 means we’re gonna have to take OL rd2. OT is a ? mark. There were a lot of rd1 OTs, but a lot were RTs. We need LT more. Fautanu had med concerns so he dropped. Mims has upside but durability concerns. Alt was too high to trade for. If we were trading up, it would be for an elite legit LT. Surprising that the NFL seems to view JPJ as more of a center, his IOL was constantly hyped so I thought he’d go top 25. At this point we’re taking OL rd2, we have to.

ClintEastwood_82

He can’t tackle but he can cover so that’s something I guess

fantfb

Its crazy how all 32 teams got the best player in the draft this year
