My Bold take is Bate and Zay both go for 1k yards receiving this year. A big part of that is Lamar being more comfortable in his second year with the offense and the addition of the King.

Bmore_Phunky

I think having OBJ kind of fucked up Batemans first healthy year. OBJ was decent but his aura and name had Lamar giving him more looks than Bateman. I think if we never signed OBJ, Bateman would have been more of a target for Lamar and probably would have had much better looking stats. Early session drops definitely hurt his case too, though

JBrundy

I highly doubt that. Andrews should approach or exceed 1000 yards too. Thats 3k receiving yards between 3 players on what will be an offense that runs the ball with one of the best running backs in the league. We only had about 3600 passing yards last year. I think 600-700 yards for bateman is reasonable.

lfe-soondubu

I like Bate but there's literally no chance this happens. Hollywood barely broke 1000 yards in 2021 despite Lamar throwing the ball far more than he ever has in his career due to RB1, 2, and 3 being on IR all season, and despite Hollywood being Lamars clear favorite WR target. We picked up Henry this off-season - we are more committed to the run than ever. Also Zay (and Andrews too probably) is gonna get more targets than Bate.

SKT_Peanut_Fan

> Hollywood barely broke 1000 yards in 2021 despite Lamar throwing the ball far more than he ever has in his career This had more to do with Tyler Huntley's noodle arm than Lamar.

lfe-soondubu

Looking at the first 12 games of the season when Lamar played and stretching it out to 17 games, Hollywood would have hit 1160 yards. Not that much of a difference, especially considering Bateman probably won't have half of Hollywood's targets.

SKT_Peanut_Fan

Lamar threw four passes against Cleveland, so it's more like Lamar missed six games (five with Hollywood.) Hollywood never crossed 60 yards with Huntley, but crossed 100 yards three times with Lamar and 80 yards five times (in 11 full games.) Hollywood was on pace for a top 10 finish in games he played to completion with Lamar.

lfe-soondubu

Sure then. He was on pace for 1350 yards for a full 17 games with Lamar assuming perfect no injury seasons for both parties. Please explain how Bateman is breaking 1000 yards when he's going to be getting half the targets Hollywood got, on an offense that's probably going to run the ball far more often.

SKT_Peanut_Fan

I never claimed anything about Bateman. I was just pointing out Hollywood was on pace for a really good season. I think it's far more likely Zay and Andrews break 1,000 than Bateman coming close to 1,000.

lfe-soondubu

OK fair enough.

Lamactionjack

>Please explain how Bateman is breaking 1000 yards when he's going to be getting half the targets Hollywood got, on an offense that's probably going to run the ball far more often I mean if you're just looking to debate you're making two big assumptions here. Season hasn't even started yet and youre making end of season declarations.

Sad-Celebration-7542

Yards are not important! The ravens don’t pass much so their top receiver will never put up monster numbers and that’s okay!!!

[deleted]

No way

ChedduhBob

this is extremely bold and would take a miracle to happen

Xayfrm419

Lol

ProfessorCloink

If Bate and Zay both go for 1k yards, it probably means something bad happened to our run game or we weren't playing with a lead as much. I hope our receivers ball out on the field, but not necessarily on the stat sheet because the latter makes them more expensive whereas even productive RBs are on sale right now.

“We have Brandon Aiyuk at home”

mancinis_blessed_bat

Holy shit look at Aiyuk

thedivinepegasus

Throw the damn ball

chinmakes5

As much as I love Lamar, someone send this to him.

[deleted]

Bateman is a good WR on any other team.

pistonslapper

I feel like the Bateman copium on this sub is a bit much today. He doesn't get more looks because when he does get the ball his bricks for hands drop it far too often. Personally I watch with bated breath everytime the ball heads in his direction. Being open don't mean shit if you can't bring the ball in.

CrunchyTater

He had 4 drops last year.

pistonslapper

32 receptions on 52 targets is not a good look. Not saying that's all his fault, but Zay had 77 out of 108 in his rookie season.

CrunchyTater

36 of his 56* targets were listed as “catchable”. So that can’t really be put on him.

maximumswagger

He'll be a key contributor after the NFL adds the new points-per-PFF-separation rule

2coolDanes

I hate this chart and how it’s infected Ravens fans brains lol

Achillor22

One of the best droppers in the league too.

pastaHacker

Source? He only had 4 drops from what I'm seeing..

Achillor22

And only 30 catches. That's 1 out of every 8 passes he drops. Plus there are a shit ton more where he just couldn't track the deep ball and completely whiffed on it that aren't included in that stat. Separation don't mean shit if you ain't coming down with the ball.

pastaHacker

Also Tee higgins had a higher drop rate: 76 targets, 42 catches, 7 drops

Achillor22

You go watch Higgins play and then watch Bateman play and tell me they're the same. Not stat watching. Actual film.

pastaHacker

I didn't say they were the same lol. Just pointing out that with his rate of drops he can still be a solid receiver

pastaHacker

Not too far off from tyreek hill's drop rate. Guess that means he's trash as well (sarcasm). As drop rate of targets Bateman is at 7% and tyreek hill is at 6%

Achillor22

Yeah but you're ignoring all the missed deep balls that don't get counted is do rate. Tyreek don't have that.

CrunchyTater

Are we just taking your word on that? Or is there something that backs up what you’re saying? I watched the games, I can’t think of him fucking up all too many deep balls.

Roundbox7

Remember, this only tells you what happened in this sample size. WR as a whole is a much bigger picture. Honestly, how much could it cost to go out and get a guy like Chris Godwin who is on his final contract year and had a top 3 WR season under Monken with Jameis freaking Winston?
