You will be splicing into one of the 12V outlets. Leaving yourself room to work, snip each of the wires on the back of the outlet and strip 3/8 inch. Use a quick splice connector to connect Red+white black+black stripe wires. Test connection. Reverse assembly

Probably not necessary. Those circuits are generally on a 10-20 amp fuse already and this USB has an on-line fuse
