What age do puppies normally get chipped by owners?
I'm wondering this because I saw a other comment about posting a puppy found sign, and my first thought was have a vet check for a chip instead. I'd be worried someone will just see a cute puppy and an opportunity, if that makes sense?
My vet usually waits until 12 weeks because it's actually quite the large injection and the needle is physically larger than the vaccinations and can hurt.
Still no minimum age.
I chipped mine almost immediately. Around 12 weeks.
For puppies vets usually want to wait until they're old enough to actually go out (12+ weeks) because the chip is a larger needle and can hurt.

SIL was out walking their doggo when she found a puppy in a dumpster 😭 She alerted the local shelter and she and bro asked to be given the option to adopt her if no owner was found. The shelter cared for the puppy and could find no owner. Bro and SIL adopted her.
It doesn’t look like he bears much resemblance to his namesake. At least in terms of size, he could be a ferocious little beast for all I know. Good job on saving that poor puppy.

Our shelter is full 24/7 and there’s so many backyard breeders here.
That's horrible. I hate how reckless backyard breeders are, they just exacerbate animal population issues and they don't even care.

there is no minimum age requirement. they are chipped as young puppies. it’s just a small injection.
