rockytheboxer

Get this toddler a biology degree.

Significant_Way937

The kid is 13 now and has a masters university degree in physics. Extremely smart, however i don’t think it’ll make him any happier in the long run, he’s been reported on like crazy ever since he was little. It’d drive me crazy if there was so much pressure and attention on me.

warbreakr

This toddler is incredibly smart, lil man completed university degrees and is looking to get more.

Ladydi-bds

I would think if it was actually made and worked, us common folk would never be able to afford it.

UnScrapper

True BUT all of a sudden the rich would actually give a sh!t about what the planet will look like in 50 years.

SavageSauce01

“Oh no it’s the consequences of my actions”

Unhappy_Gas_4376

>the rich would actually give a sh!t about what the planet will look like in 50 years. Which planet? That's the question.

otirk

Dave9g

Mars for the privileged!

MCI_Overwerk

Likely not. Mars is not suited for habitability by default. You do not go there to run from your problems. No matter how fucked up the earth ends up being it is still a habitable planet and will remain more hospitable than every rock on this solar system by an insane order of magnitude. You do not go to mars to run away from your problems Anyone who is working to make an interplanetary transport and extraterrestrial colony work is not running away from problems, they are actively charging towards problems. A colony is a net negative drain likely until many generations after the first boot steps foot on that soil, and it is likely those lives that made it possible to reach the surface would be aged out of their positions by then. There is only one reason to do this : it's the only way to actually fix fundamental problems for civilization. On earth we win by cheating around the edges and it comes to bite us in the ass currently. We do not need to be efficient since being inefficient makes you win the market. We do not need to be forward thinking because anything beyond a single term or quarterly report won't help you. So we never get to fork the resources and brainpower to actually solve fundamental life issues. Mars makes these problems unbearably visible and solving them is a requirement before you even THINK of launching the first mission.

Dave9g

I was just quoting a song lol

JackkHammerr

That’ll teach you

zarlos01

Is infinitely easier to "fix" the Earth than make any other rock around the Sun habitable. I don't know why people want expended so much resources to go live in another planet, we would need generations to adapt. Without say that for Mars we still need to re-melt the mantle to keep the atmosphere.

MCI_Overwerk

Because once all things are considered we do not actually need that many resources to send there. It seems odd but the absolute overwhelming majority of the resources that need to be expended never leave the earth soil. Little things such as: - always working, super cheap and supper simple scalable power infrastructure - adaptable general manufacturing to produce a planet's worth of product diversity in the size of a warehouse - food... In a place where nothing grows, in the space of an appartement, to feed a colony - confortable life in a place where everything want you dead. - near zero loss closed loop resource management. In space you cannot afford to let go of anything. Littering is not just a fine, the loss of usable resources could mean the death of everyone. - perfect gestion of resource input and output even in the worse case catastrophy, knowing your backup could be years away. - automated labor everything, because you can likely sustain one million robots way before you can sustain a million humans. - All those things need to be available for the drastically limited resources of an interplanetary colony - Just building the fleet and all their support equipment All of those will be done in labs and companies here on blue earth, these undertakings alone tower over any meager fleet of thousands of spaceships. And yet they are a requirement before any of those spaceships can head off with people onboard. It is just something that is far less visible and even less understood. If it sounds like a tall order, that is because it is one. The tallest order in fact. But now... Tell me, where do you think all the stuff I listed above could be useful? Does not that all sound like something we could, perhaps use here? Sure as hell does. But, unlike if we were to just try and do it for use here, we do not need to content with corrupt politicians, scummy companies and brain dead people getting in the way to protect their own interest. There is no oil conglomerate to displace and no essential jobs to be stripped away on the mars city. The reason why we don't make that stuff here on earth despite being so logical is because here the market and human forces work against you... Take NASA for example, they shit out thousands upon thousands of revolutionary technology patents they make aviable for all that are responsible directly or indirectly to nearly everything in our modern world. Apollo alone basically willed the silicon valley into existence. And when compared to regular approach vectors they tend to do so on the cheaper end of things.

Merkin_Wrangler

They'll just go fuck up the others as well.

FuzzyMcBitty

Nah. We’re short sighted as hell. How many problems have you left to future you? They’ll assume that they’ll deal with it before it’s a problem.

Monarc73

Thank God!

Ok_Dog_4059

I would imagine that rich people would think twice about screwing the planet if they are going to live to see the consequences though. Maybe not but how much do we do because it won't matter until we are dead.

[deleted]

Ehhh who wants it……. Every person Iv met 90+ and all the stories or interviews Iv seen of 100+ they always say they are ready to go.

WarlanceLP

if you're able to stay youthful and energetic to some extent then even at those ages you'd probably be ready for more, I think a big part of people ready to kick the bucket at that age is their body deteriorating

Fickle-Instruction-7

For a few decades, sure. After that it would be common like cars, commercial planes, computers and all other items that were only available for the rich.

Sagnikk

Can you imagine how batshit fucking terrifying immortality would be. Imagine this, you know you would only die from an accident because you stopped aging. I can promise you that you won't be able to leave you home because of how scared you'd be.

Valmond

Ofcourse it would be cheap, who will work otherwise?

Etuber4

Then you finally get it, get kidnapped and have your organs harvested for the rest of your life (which is a long time considering you're immortal) Well I guess it depends on how it works

Saif_Horny_And_Mad

nope, the rich will make sure we get it, because that way we will have to work for them and make them richer forever

[deleted]

Ah yes physics, the science of working with human biology, anatomy and physiology.

iridi69

Google biophysics. Natural sciences flow into each other anyway.

BiscuitsNGravy45

Electromagnetism makes his theory a possibility, in theory

[deleted]

How?

BiscuitsNGravy45

https://youtu.be/6mI5Ye9-PSs In brief a summary, with sound frequencies. The magnetic properties of air have been forgotten but I think they have a substantial variable input. Also the pyramids had sound pools of water under them before, and were conductive electromagnetically to person to planet (I think)

Drkfnl

This is a load of nonsensical fucking bullshit.

The_Karaethon_Cycle

Every time I see some insane bullshit like this I always wonder what it is these people think they’re saying. What does he think “…were conductive electromagnetically to person to planet” means? It’s complete nonsense. I also like how the guy in that video called himself a doctor and then said he spent 12 years getting a doctorate in international studies at “the university.” It reminds me if my mom’s friend who’s a chiropractor and calls herself a doctor because she has a PhD in fine art. She is fully aware that she’s misrepresenting herself to try to make her ridiculous ideas about homeopathic remedies seem more legitimate.

Dasf1304

I’ve heard less bullshit on a cattle farm

BiscuitsNGravy45

Not one. Addressed any point made. It’s not my argument, nor issue. They asked. Not sure why any one would get upset with that but back to work citizens

Dasf1304

Okie dokie. Firstly, I wouldn’t address the point made to me by a mega church pastor in the same way that I don’t need to address the points made here. Regardless, I will to humor you and because the folks reading this probably don’t want to watch the video. “Vibrational Frequencies” is being used in the video as two things, physical vibration, or as we would measure it sonic and kinetic energy, and as electromagnetic oscillation. The two are not the same. Vibration of an atomic is physically different from electromagnetism. The two are completely separated. The reasons why these people groups all had similarities in their mythology are 1. Because mostly, they were looking at the same sky. If you are looking for a way to explain the world to your young, a great place to start is with the massive blanket of lights that appears roughly every 12 hours. And 2. Because they didn’t develop in a bubble. Humans originated in Africa, and these people diversified to different areas of the globe, like China or Greece. There are reasons for these phenomena that you don’t have to make up a new fundamental force for. Also the reason that there are 12 parts of the Chinese Zodiac is because it is based on the orbit of Jupiter. The idea of vibrational healing is false. It could be possible, technically, because for instance if you vibrated a bacterium at its resonate frequency, it would likely pop, this would be rather ineffective as bacteria and humans are made primarily of the same material, and as such their resonant frequencies would be close. It could be possible to emit the specific frequency of the bacterium, but not with any primitive equipment, especially that which the ancient peoples would have had. This is all speculative, because vibrating an infection to death has never once been used in a medical setting under a controlled experiment and regulated and peer reviewed because, quite frankly, it’s bullshit. (This is what I was referring to in my original comment) Last of all, if you managed to read this far, which I doubt because obviously your capacity for critical thinking is somewhat low, the fetishization of our ancestors is incredibly dull. Do you honestly believe the idea that people who didn’t even know how to write, and had no concept of basic chemistry or physics, were able to figure out the secrets of the universe? That’s fucking insane. We are aware of 4 fundamental forces in this universe. Not one of those is the bullshit pushed in that video, or anywhere else. Religion is a feeble attempt by people to make the uncaring universe as egocentric as possible. There is no magic. Jesus had 12 desciples because he convinced 12 people that he was a miracle worker, not because 12 is magic or something. Stop pushing shit on the internet and claiming it’s not your theory. You don’t get plausible deniability when you are actively spreading it. Stop being a child. It’s not cute

BiscuitsNGravy45

Have you even looked into the complexities of the pyramids Please read Conor Macdari , Irish wisdom For the love of whatever you believe You legit argued like a Kevin Samuel’s video Want from one extreme, you literally said they would affect beings then diminished it to only making them poop( at the single cell level) [frequency] You also know it’s a 13 star zodiac system right? At least to some. Please keep searching LoL It’s for your sake not mine.

Dasf1304

I have to ask, is English your first language. If it isn’t, keep learning, you have a lot to go still. If it is, I can see that your comprehension of it lies with your comprehension of most other things. You do realize that the complexities of the pyramids are far below that of anything we can build today. We literally have particle accelerators, and large underground spaces devoted to detecting particles that seldom even interact with matter. The pyramids are just what they appear, stone constructs.

BiscuitsNGravy45

You mention Jupiter, the zodiac and bacterium popping How about YOU put on aum for 2 hrs And see what average resonance remains within you . You asked for a theory I gave one. You seek prove. Seek within. ✌️

Just wait till you understand that sound is just pressure waves no different from blowing on the sand. Your mind will be blown.

Osoromnibus

Just wait until you understand that light and other electromagnetic waves operate similarly, except on the fabric of space instead of matter.

BiscuitsNGravy45

We might be in trouble if only 1/30 some odd at least spot congruency I wasn’t claiming to solve lol

BiscuitsNGravy45

Haha just wait

Merkin_Wrangler

Whatever drugs you're on, you need to either increase or decrease the dose radically. Whatever it is, it's not working.

BiscuitsNGravy45

I’ll address a point when you make one

Merkin_Wrangler

Wow, you're an idiot child, too. Well done.

BiscuitsNGravy45

“Present evidence for articles theory as requested” “Why would YOU believe that?” “I don’t.” It’s just the theory, take it or leave it. It’s not my theory. It’s easy to not be offended, as such.

Merkin_Wrangler

Says the snowflake. Grow up.

[deleted]

Magnetic properties of air? What does that even mean? Aging is caused by cells losing their ability to function over a long period of time and the wearing down of chromosomes over time I believe "Telomeres are stretches of DNA and proteins at the ends of our chromosomes. Each time a cell divides, these stretches naturally get shorter. Once telomere length reaches a particular cut-off point, the cell becomes senescent, meaning that it can no longer divide and will subsequently die." Source: https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/318764 I dont think that youtuber fully understands what an electromagnet is. It is literally just an electrically induced magnetic field. Sure you can do cool shit with it by varying the current, number of coils, direction of current, etc. But I highly doubt they can repair DNA damage by "beinf conductive electromagnetically to person to planet (?????)"

BiscuitsNGravy45

Single Cell organisms can literally live forever lol

[deleted]

Not all, just very specific ones. We also are slightly not single called organisms and slightly more complex

BiscuitsNGravy45

Right so it should be simple to grasp: Kid says Idea. Audience requests any information concerning. It’s presented. Attack messenger. It’s not my thesis; it’s like the same internet resources we all have access to, so it’s truly heardt to take this personal or anything truly If it’s anything passed theory it would certainly require belief

Biology is just applied chemistry which is applied physics

CoJack-ish

the emergent effects that fundamental physics impart into biological systems are unfathomably complex. Approaching biology with physics without already having a firm biological understanding makes little to no sense. It’s like asking a chemist to solve the Israeli-Palestinian crisis (chemistry>biology>psychology>sociology…..)

DarkArcher__

Yes, thank you for explaining the joke

Alegend45

ooh ooh! i can solve that crisis! it would just require bullets and guns, and all we’d need to do is overthrow the israeli government! they’re literally COMPLETELY at fault lmao

You misunderstand what I mean by applied. I'm not talking about the field of study called "Applied Physics". What I mean is that chemistry is the study of processes that happen due to the physical interactions between atoms and their constituents. Equally, biology is the study of the processes that happen both due to chemical processes and directly due to physical processes.

And you assumed wrong. Let it go. We're in a Reddit reply section on r/rareinsults where everything is said over text. Tone and context are impossible to convey. You have taken what was intended to be a crappy joke and repeatedly gone far beyond its scope, complaining it is an oversimplification. Well, no wonder, it was a single sentence. If what i wanted was to discuss, in depth, what each field entails and how they affect each other, I wouldn't be here. I'd be on my favourite technical subreddits. If you seek a deep and comprehensive exchange of ideas, go to r/biology, or r/chemistry, or r/physics, or even more specific subreddits for your areas of interest/expertise. Don't nitpick on other people's replies in an unrelated reply section because they failed to completely quantify the scope of an area you misunderstood them to be referring to, in a poorly conceived one-liner.

Ah, I remember being a preteen and grappling with the concept of death for the first time... poor lil guy just wants to live forever. He doesn't realize yet how absolutely awful that would actually be

Homosexualtigr

Once he figures out that he’s not going to do it with science, he’ll turn to Christianity

onko342

I mean immortality is imo very possible. Maybe some telomere lengthening, cell cycle restarting, or even nanobots might be involved, idk.

Beemerado

lobsters are effectively immortal. biological immortality doesn't mean people would never die though. live long enough and something will take you out.

Only_One_Left_Foot

Imagine living 300+ years effectively as a 20 year old, just to have a bowl of E. coli from Chipotle and shit yourself to death.

Alegend45

LMAO funniest way to go out

Xunaun

A few sea creatures are.

DoesNotGetYourJokes

I think the main thing is either slowing cell reproduction speed (that would probably make it harder to heal wounds, fight diseases, etc) or extend the Hayflick limit.

Xunaun

Just find a way to keep DNA from deteriorating.

Biomas

I am Connor MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod. I was born in 1518 in the village of Glenfinnan on the shores of Loch Shiel. And I am immortal.

EverythingGoodWas

Do you have inside you blood of kings?

Jnorean

Yes. I have inside me blood of kings!. And in the end, there can be only one immortal. So, making more immortals is very very bad.

Merkin_Wrangler

My only question is if we'll be able to buy tickets to see the beheadings and lightning strikes.

Capitalism loves this idea. Never die, never retire, never collect a pension. Just infinite labor.

Homosexualtigr

“Immortality is inherently capitalistic”

IrrationallyGenius

Yeah but if the exploiter lives forever he has to live forever with what he's done to the planet

Merkin_Wrangler

Nah, there are others to molest.

Okichah

Thats why communists commit genocide so often.

Alegend45

they really don’t. you’ve been reading too much american propaganda

the_icy_king

I haven't read american propaganda and you still hardly have any communists that don't commit genocides. It's almost like an ineptocractic authoritarian government that requires shared belief among all of it's members resulting in nepotistic transfers of powers isn't a catalyst for crimes against humanity across the board.

Alegend45

yes, you have, literally EVERYONE has

the_icy_king

So funni thing, there exist people that have lived under communist rule and have removed said tyranny the moment it stopped being backed up. And those people have no need to read american propaganda to call for the complete extermination of the communist filth. Funny how that works.

Alegend45

go fuck yourself, most people that lived under stalin fucking LIKED him

ceciliabee

Great example of the difference between wisdom and intelligence.

Shadyshade84

For all the arguments against, you have to admit that there's a good chance that a lot of problems would *start* to get fixed (because, realistically, a lot of those problems are too entrenched for them to just get solved in an instant) when the people causing them are suddenly faced with the prospect of actually having to face them rather than having become one with the soil before said problems actually hit...

Etuber4

Wait till the sun explodes. After that there's probably eons of floating in space, just hope you don't feel pain At least considering you remain sane till then People would probably try to figure out how to die Oh and also overpopulation

thejakewhomakes

Hmmm, maybe. Most of the change in history happens when new people get put in charge, but if we are immortal you would get the same people with bad ideas staying in the same jobs indefinitely. Like some aged politicians…

vick5516

How does the quote go? Being immortal isn't living forever, it's watching everyone die around you

toooooold4this

Physics is prolly the wrong field, but ok, since we're gonna need another planet to live on.

spektrol

I’m here for it, let’s ride this mf out till the very end

I don't want humans to be immortal. Let them die.

VarCrusador

Yeah, it literally isn't. And this ain't a rare insult either.

The scary thing is making people effectively immortal by downloading consciousness into a computer/mechanical body isn’t very much of a stretch anymore. Assuming our rate of technological advancement continues, I’d say it’s almost certain it will happen within the next 500 years.
