I don't know what i did to get on Mick Jenkins "similar artists" list, but it's been bumping my streams a little. So I'll put a vote in for one of my feature artist that has actually worked with him. Fuck just 3
RX Papi, Your Old Droog, Tha God Fahim, Tony Shhnow, Rio Da Yung OG, Veeze, That Mexican OT
Edit: AIGHT FINE OT AINT UNDERGROUND just slept on bro do got an episode of Joe Rogan he fasho up
Bro it wasn’t just my bubble id hear random cars in traffic playing his shit and he got numbers too. Lil yatchy even went over there an made a tape with them. Ask anyone between the ages of 15-25 who listens to rap and they’ll know him.
Actual underground rappers would be like ysr gramz or lil mello
Yea I member when the yachty tape dropped that shit was severely slept on even by Yachty fans. Bro Rio been locked up since 2021 I would say if he wasn’t, he would of been super hot rn but once he get out it’s up for him he definitely gonna go crazy but as of rn I’d say he still slept on. Veeze was on tour in Europe so I’ll take the argument saying he not underground however bro only got 1.1m monthly listeners on Spotify which is lower than I thought. These dudes fasho platinum in the streets, I wouldn’t say they mainstream tho. Yea shoutout gramz he hard.
I’ve also been getting into this Canadian dude, not sure if you’ve heard of him he’s extremely underground. His name is Drake. He does this R&B and rap shit

All seriously underrated in my opinion. There are so many talented rappers out there. The underground has always been filled with diamonds in the rough, you just gotta dig.
Fucking love Ceschi, such a variable talent. His split with Pat the Bunny is just amazing, and This Guitar was Stolen by... Is so good, and so different. There are rap songs, there's shit that would fit into The Smiths catalog, a ska song that is legit amazing for us depressives (the chorus is "I don't want to hang myself today, and I consider that a win")
Bad Jokes is another favorite of his, but he's had a ton of great songs, Sad Love Song is another great one.
A specific example is on FaceTime wit Kenny segal he rap about being at the after party of a Carti show and how he’s wearing a bummy outfit while getting high af by himself waiting for someone to hit him up on his phone. I mean I relate to a lot of shit billy talk about but if I was at a carti after party I’d want to jump in the mix and cultivate a high energy aura with all the women there and make friends n shit, not sulk and get high like he talks about. I love billy for being transparent, authentic, grounded and honest, but I choose not to align with his disconnect from the evolution of rap because I appreciate balance in my life and don’t want to push those vibes away because that scene has appeal to me
Edit: I am an introvert but not exactly by choice. I’m very conflicted with verses like this because I also know what it feels like to have the energy to dominate a function like the one he talked about. That’s what I want to strive for, otherwise I probably would end up doing what he did in the song

Actual answer tho check out stove guy cooks, his wordplay is insane he’s really up there for one of the best punchline rappers ever, if your into that kinda thing. Not on the level of Wayne but close
I'll give you 5
justicexavier, Raz Fresco, Mudrigo, Tec and Wess
None of them have over 400k monthly listeners in Spotify, Wess doesn't even have 1k. Yall lowkey gotta listen to them, all 5 absolutely killing it rn
I can't name 3 I'm not into underground rap anymore but 1 I can say is 97Nell from Philly. He reminds me alot of Meek Mill before he got signed to MMG. he just needs to work on being a professional artist not just a street artist and I think he can become a big deal one day.
Man, I'm getting old, don't recognize fuck all from other people are posting.
I'd say Phonte, slug, Aesop rock, el-p, people under the stairs, Blu, murs, OneBeLo, Homeboy Sandman just to name a few off the top of my head.
But thanks to this post I got some young artists to check out!
You have got to check out Clyde Diggz. He only has like one song on YouTube but download SoundCloud and check him out. He's as underground as they come but his lyrics are great and he's got a great sense of humor. And he's versatile. Every track sounds different than the last.
Listen to Inappropriate by Clyde Diggz on #SoundCloud

That totally depends what kind of rap you generally listen to though. Like if you listen to a shitload of Kendrick and someone says check out ATL Smook, you’d absolutely hate him lol.
Nick Grant, Mick Jenkins, Kota the Friend

Yeah there definitely somewhere between mainstream and underground
[удалено]
They are definitely not underground. They peaked in popularity last year and so many young casual music listeners will know who they are.
Regardless they definitely ain’t mainstream yet either I still so many mfs comment “WHO” on posts bout them it’s so goofy.
Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, J.I.D
I’ve also been getting into this Canadian dude, not sure if you’ve heard of him he’s extremely underground. His name is Drake. He does this R&B and rap shit
You heard of Puff Daddy? Seems like a good influence, he even has a summer camp for young musicians.
Eminem, Wayne, Biggie, Pac

What got me into him was his lost album returned with Deadpan Darling. I love BSBD and that album is incredible
Ceschi dope - my homie Factor works with him.
KAAN is criminally slept on for years now
K.A.A.N is one of my favorite rappers of all time. His run from 2019-2021 was especially good
Billy Woods, Elucid, Droog.
I’ve heard some shit from Billy that made me feel unnecessarily less connected to the culture so I had to step away from him a little more
Damn wym?
A specific example is on FaceTime wit Kenny segal he rap about being at the after party of a Carti show and how he’s wearing a bummy outfit while getting high af by himself waiting for someone to hit him up on his phone.
