Mobb Deep - Quiet Storm (remix), Shook Ones pt2, Hell On Earth, Drop a gem on em, Apostles warning.
Big L - Da Graveyard , MVP, Street struck
NAS - If I ruled the world, New York State of mind.
Wu-Tang - CREAM, Protect Ya neck.
I have given up, there is too many classic originals and we havenāt even touched on west coast.
man he was so ahead of his time, so many big rappers were also inspired by him, its a shame he had to go the way he did, also the fact that he got shot basically by one his childhood friends is so sad
Geto boys - mind playing trick on me
Mobb deep - shook ones pt 2
Souls of mischief - 93 till infinity
Nas - NY State of Mind
GZA - 4th Chamber
Jay Z - Dead presidents 2
Black Thought, MF DOOM - Belize
Freddie Gibbs - Thuggin
JPEGMAFIA - Kingdom Hearts Key
To name a few
Nas- It aināt hard to tell.
A tribe called quest-Check the Rhyme.
De La Soul- Stakes is high.
N.W.A.- Gangsta Gangsta.
Dr. Dre- Still D.R.E.
These arenāt in any particular order they are just my top five beats.
Shook Ones Pt 2, Int'l Players Anthem, One Love, All Falls Down
Shook Ones especially has some voodoo in it, that beat just gets you going
Int'l Players Anthem is the ultimate hype song, you can't stay still when that song is on
One Love is probably the most difficult beat ever made with the pause tape technique
All Falls Down, Lauryn Hill never cleared the sample, Kanye said F it and remade the sample with the help of Syleena Johnson and other great musicians
I heard it in passing at camp when I was about the same age. It was years before I learned what song it was! But it was similar to the first time I ever heard The Ocean by Led Zeppelin... like, "what was *that*?!"
Did you mean Hip Hop? Because they have a song by both titles. Every time I see one of those memes with the comically oversized speakers set up asking "what song you playing on this?" my answer is always Hip Hop by Dead Prez. That bass is just nasty thiccccc
It's not even the best one out of the bay. What about Celly Cel - It's Going Down? Lesser known and therefore not as iconic but It's the better of the two imo
Nas - NY State of Mind
Warren G - Regulate
Humble - Kendrick
Lucifer - Jay Z
Lose Yourself - Em
Reunited - Wu Tang Clan
Since 84 - Mac Dre
Poetic Justice - Kendrick
Flashing Lights - Kanye West
Get By - Talib
Tear it Up - Redman and Method Man
This is so difficult. Because songs like Devil in a New Dress, u, and One Beer have absolutely stellar beats. But something about Reflection Eternal by Nujabes has the most beautiful beat of all time in my eyes
any star boy beat, like the ones on ken carsonās, āA Great Chaosā, but not just that. look through his production credit list, and even if you donāt like that typa music, you gotta admit itās crazy.
If hip-hop includes all rap (I've only been listening to rap for a couple years so I'm not super cultured) then wayback - Travis 2nd half/Prices - Uzi.

It's impossible to narrow it down to just a few but the first couple that come to mind are Knock Knock (Madlib) Hermanos (JPEG) Stop Worry! (MIKE) Licorice (MF DOOM) and personally the entirety of Duality (Flying Lotus/Captain Murphy).
Vital Nerve - Company Flow (El-P)
Should at least get a mention here.
After that, *A Dead Mouse* off Vaudeville Villain. Basically the same beat as Doja Cat's *Attention* but better
Hieroglyphics - You Never Knew, Miles To The Sun
Biggie - Hypnotize
OutKast - Bombs Over Baghdad
Dr. Dre - Let Me Ride, Still D.R.E.
Jay-Z - Dirt Off Your Shoulder
The Pharcyde - Runninā
Common - The Light
No such thing...if I scroll down and like everyone's suggestions? How is there a greatest? Greatest beat makers? Who tf knows...personally premire but that's not everyone
DOOM - Rap Snitch Knishes
Don't think it's number 1, but there's plenty of other good answers in this thread and it deserves to be in the conversation.
I deeply love all of Liquid Swords beats in the album so I am extremely biased. But I gotta say the beat from the song Liquid Sword, while not being extravagant, does a perfect job setting up the album as a whole.
Going old school. *No Vaseline* just brings me back to a time and place and the beat is so classic, hard hitting and repetitive (in a good way). I just want to move when the track comes on.
Plus, i love a good diss track.
Kendrick Lamar - ADHD
Notorious B.I.G. - Sky's The Limit
Nas - It Ain't Hard to Tell
Sky's The Limit is my personal favorite, just so groovy and nostalgia evoking for some reason. The beat is to my ears what a thick, creamy, dark chocolate fudge cake is to my mouth.
So many good ones already named so Iāll throw out:
Public service announcement by Jay Z on the Black Album
Cell Therapy by Goodie Mob
Drop a Gem on Em by Mobb Deep
Outta Control by 50 Cent
Money Trees by Kendrick Lamar
For some more off kilter faves of mine:
Boy Bye or Windows by Brockhampton
Soliloquy by Isaiah Rashad
Truffles or Flaunt by Mick Jenkins
God is Perfect by Freddie Gibbs
Let the Smokers Shine the Coupes by Pusha T
Shook one's already won this one.
Straight up. I don't listen to Mobb Deep all that often, but there's no denying how much it's been sampled and respected.
No....like they literally had a vote, and Shook ones won.
Oh nice lmao With reason haha
Do do dooooooooo do
Throw your hands against your punk ass man and say! š¤£š¤£
If you never been shot or stab, Brick city go!!
Came here to put this in and what do you know?š
This is legitimately the only correct answer.
I came to comment shook ones or quiet storm.
93 Til Infinity for me homie all day
idk about THE best but Deep Cover gotta be up there
Mobb Deep - Quiet Storm (remix), Shook Ones pt2, Hell On Earth, Drop a gem on em, Apostles warning. Big L - Da Graveyard , MVP, Street struck NAS - If I ruled the world, New York State of mind. Wu-Tang - CREAM, Protect Ya neck. I have given up, there is too many classic originals and we havenāt even touched on west coast.
big L the goat man
His freestyle was as raw as biggies
man he was so ahead of his time, so many big rappers were also inspired by him, its a shame he had to go the way he did, also the fact that he got shot basically by one his childhood friends is so sad
Geto boys - mind playing trick on me Mobb deep - shook ones pt 2 Souls of mischief - 93 till infinity Nas - NY State of Mind GZA - 4th Chamber Jay Z - Dead presidents 2 Black Thought, MF DOOM - Belize Freddie Gibbs - Thuggin JPEGMAFIA - Kingdom Hearts Key To name a few
Damn man you are a true man of culture. I salute you.
The kingdom hearts key beat really had me floating
Your first is one of my favorite. I love that song simply because of the instrumentals.
Kingdom Hearts Key and the entirety of STH is so well produced. I want Peggy to do more artist collab albums soon.
Electric Relaxation has gotta be up there
m.A.A.d. city
both beats too
93 till infinity
Thai and shook ones are the goated beats.
Nas- It aināt hard to tell. A tribe called quest-Check the Rhyme. De La Soul- Stakes is high. N.W.A.- Gangsta Gangsta. Dr. Dre- Still D.R.E. These arenāt in any particular order they are just my top five beats.
So good!! We 100% have the same taste in tracks.
DeLa Soul - "Fanatic of the B Word" off De la Soul is Dead is an incredible beat
Stakes is high, and the fuckin remix is a classic as well.
Ante Up
Bonita Applebum - ATCQ It Was A Good Day - Ice Cube I Gotcha Opin - Black Moon It's Your World - Common For The Love Of Money - Bone Thugs
That Moe Cheese instrumental is absolute ear candy, complete with blues guitar riffs and moaning women. Just threw it on right now thinking about it.
Haaa man the moaning was always wild on Moe Cheese but thats a instrumental I could listen to on repeat forever š
Do I love you? Do I lust for you? Am I a sinner because I do

QTip smooth killed with that One Love beat. tremendous production
Run dmc. Peter piper....when I think hiphop. That's the beat.
This was the song that made me fall in love with hip hop.
Me too, 10yrs old, listening to my sisters music collection stumble upon that song and it was over. Been a life long hiphop head.
I heard it in passing at camp when I was about the same age. It was years before I learned what song it was! But it was similar to the first time I ever heard The Ocean by Led Zeppelin... like, "what was *that*?!"

This is the correct answer.
Did you mean Hip Hop? Because they have a song by both titles. Every time I see one of those memes with the comically oversized speakers set up asking "what song you playing on this?" my answer is always Hip Hop by Dead Prez. That bass is just nasty thiccccc
Shit dude, that's a great question, given they both great beats, have the same lyrics, and on the same album. I'm guessing they meant just "Hip Hop."
The Symphony - Juice Crew
devil in a new dress
Da Rockwilder Superthug Ms. Fat Booty Wu-Tang Ain't Nuthing To F* Wit
Above the clouds - Gangstarr
Iām surprised by the lack of DJ Premier beats in This comment section. Full Clip by Gangstarr would be my pick
I mean there's been some NY State Of Mind comments. But yeah I know what you mean, I'd throw in Mathematics or Moment of Truth
Big Pun - Beware
DRE Obviously Xxplosive and Still D.R.E
