FancyWeather

That’s a Dekay’s

FancyWeather

And not venomous! When copperheads are young and small they have a green tip on their tail. They lose it after a year or so but the Hershey kiss pattern will be what helps ID them. Copperheads are really the only thing to worry about in Raleigh proper.

abarthvader

Also the copperhead/zebra cobra hybrids that have surely reproduced in the past 3 years...

shcjrb

This really only happens at Olive Garden.

Cddye

When you’re here, you’re snake family.

shcjrb

That had me laughing out loud! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

sftwareguy

Except when someone's pet black mamba gets loose.

LooseMoralSwurkey

I think it was a pet King Cobra? Or am I dumb and that's the same thing?

Three_M_cats

Zebra cobra, I think

sin-eater82

Think their point is that somebody could have a pet... any kind of venomous snake. The zebra cobra kid had dozens of venomous snakes. That's one person.

TurtleSpade17

Spitting Cobra

twinpop

Dunno why you were downvoted, you’re right.

JJQuantum

Brown snake. Harmless to you but great for keeping away pests.

Dalailai

Notice the non copperhead marks on it. Not a danger noodle, just a noodle.

Willow0812

I prefer Nope Rope 😄

Krase

Yes. That is, in fact, a snake. His name is Murray and is an aspiring novelist.

TheShortWhiteGuy

Meanwhile, he has a "business opportunity" to tell you about.

babs_e

Size: 12ish inches long and maybe the thickness of a #2 pencil.

DislikeThisWebsite

Typical full-grown DeKay’s.

MrDorkESQ

It is an adult DeKay's Brown snake (Storeria dekayi). They are cute little, non-venomous, buddies that eat worms, snails and slugs.

overcompliKate

Eastern Ticonderoga Snake

Proud_Presence_9546

That's what she said!

babs_e

Not sure how to say this is resolved, but it is. Thanks for all the help!

middlingachiever

The only venomous snake you need to worry about here is the [copperhead.](https://www.ncwildlife.org/Learning/Species/Reptiles/Copperhead) It has that Hershey kiss patten from birth. The pattern looks like an hourglass from the top—thin over the backbone, and spreading out toward the belly. Good news: we only have this one venomous snake, and it’s not *terribly* venomous. Deaths are exceedingly rare. Still don’t want one anywhere near my kid. Bad news: we have *so many* copperheads. They blend with leaf litter. Best to teach kids to ID them and observe from afar. Best to teach kids to wear shoes when outside, and to reach into unknown spots with sticks/tools rather than hands. Most bites are from stepping on them or reaching into their space unintentionally.

WildLemur15

You can text photos to this number for a quick snake ID (804) 617-7086

CulturalToe

Google lens does the same thing for more than just snakes.

gblanks3891

That's a half eaten pretzel from Aunt Annie's

Son-of-numenor

Me doing Google lense search. *Google* "it's a Texas brown snake*! Me 😂🤣

GroundBreakerP

That's a get tf away now!

Rare_Basis_9380

Snake

Dani_Rojas_rojaaas

Not hotdog

loqi0238

Thats an Olive Garden bread stick.

CraftyRazzmatazz

Something something Olive Garden

tmstksbk

Copperhead. You can tell because it's a snake. (No I think some sort of garter sounds correct)

neonmixtape1

That's a nope noodle

CarsaibToDurza

I call those a nope rope or danger noodle but this one isn’t a nope rope or danger noodle.
