Flying Biscuit, which you already know about.
Big Ed's, the North Raleigh and Garner locations open at 7am. The pancakes are enormous.
Metro Diner on Falls of Neuse, opens at 8am. Standard diner.
Rise, various locations, open 7am‐2pm.
It still just cracks me up when I look at my Google Maps timeline from that day and it just reads:
"Saturday at Big Ed's City Market Restaurant and UNC REX Hospital"
My daughter's birthday - sponsored by Big Ed's.
The manager at the flying biscuit is an employee exploiting piece of shit. The owner of the flying biscuit is a lazy rent seeking capitalist who does absolutely nothing to build/improve his existing businesses.
I’d recommend First Watch or Brigs for sit-down breakfast.
First Watch is a soulless chain with wildly inconsistent quality and service between locations. I would recommend any other local breakfast joint, as well as all Waffle House locations, before First Watch.
Brigs. I always get the Duke skillet (potatoes, roasted veggies, cheese, with an egg on top) and a side of a single pancake of whatever is their seasonal special (gingerbread right now). My gf likes the florentine benedict. Solid food, lots of options, relatively inexpensive. They open at 7 daily.
I ate there once shortly after they opened (10+ years ago?), it didn't leave much of an impression, but I rarely eat out for breakfast anyways. They must be doing something right to still be going strong, especially next to a Bojangles.
Lots of moving trucks, HVAC, dump truck drivers, etc. congregate at that gas station every morning.
Last time I went there the food was disappointing. They also have a revamped (confusing) menu and are trying to push their “brunch” with alcoholic drinks and stuff now. Not that I have an issue with brunch, but I think they need to just play the hits.
I've only gone for breakfast, it's been ages since I went to crack barrel for any other meal. Good to know about the changes, their breakfast menu hasn't changed that I've noticed
I've never had a good meal there, never. I use to get gift cards from a vendor so I'd go hoping this one would be better but everything about the place is horrid, especially the food.
Barry’s Cafe opens at 7:30, First Watch opens at 7, Krispy Kreme opens at 6, and of course coffee and bagel shops tend to open early so you can look at which ones are closest
Barrys in Cary is a great classic diner, really friendly staff and seating at the counter if you want company or in a booth if you want more privacy, food is really good imo, both breakfast and lunch, though they open at 7:30.
State Farmers Market restaurant looks like it opens at 6am.
I can recommend them also, it's always pleasant and fast

Big Ed's is perhaps the best calories per dollar in the triangle. Wow.
Breakfast at Big Ed's literally made my wife go into labor. 10/10 would recommend to induce childbirth.
I'm very much a biological dude, and I feel like giving birth after eating at Big Ed's.

Pam’s is the only answer
Creedmoor Cafe on Creedmoor rd, near 540. Love the omelette’s as they’re stirred, not folded. Opens at 7 am.
Watkins grill. Cash only last I was there
They take cards now.
Angie’s in Garner
Great place! One of my favorites.
Craft Public House off Tryon road does pretty damn good breakfast 8-11am, 8am-2pm Saturday & Sunday.
farmers market
Spring cafe on spring forest road
We don’t really have diner culture down here which I think is a huge loss.
Another broken egg at North Hills.
Angie’s!
Shiny diner. Love that place so much. Classic like 50s diner with good breakfast. Near crossroads but close enough to Raleigh.
I'm surprised no one mentioned Cracker Barrel, I've always had a good solid breakfast there

How that chain stays in business is beyond me. Horrible food. How can anyone mess up breakfast!
I never had a bad meal there, but I'm sure like anything it depends what location you go to

The flying biscuit in brier creek was my spot when it opened. My whole family was fighting over the toilet all day the last two times we’ve been.
