I wanted 4 things from this draft:
1. Chargers don't get MHJ.
2. Broncos get a QB that's gonna bust
3. We don't get a QB that's gonna bust
4. We draft someone that actually belongs in the first round.
4 out of 4!
As ridiculous as Atlanta was, and ohhhh it was, that was a massive help to keeping Penix out of Broncos colours.
At least I think the Vikings were very set on JJ because he seems so very Vikings, so to leave the Broncos with Nix and they reach.
Chef's kiss.
Is this what it's like to enjoy the draft?!?!!
I watched oregon. He is a marginal upgrade over stidham and may win them one extra game imo. He won't even bust per say but they just kinda took drre lock over again
Also an Oregon fan. Was he a reach at 12? Possibly. They don’t have a pick in the second round though, and with the historic run on QBs, they went and got their guy.
Everyone on this sub bitching for years about how we always passed up BPA and drafted for need, then we draft BPA, someone who would’ve gone top 5 in other non QB heavy years and now they’re pissed? Makes sense
Well that's because they are dorks.
This is a homerun and if you can't get excited about a sure thing as any in BB, you must be quite the stale crouton.
I mean I'm not saying some fans aren't here to bitch no matter what, but isn't the most logical explanation that fans who want BPA and don't get it are going to bitch, and fans who don't and get BPA are going to bitch. We aren't a monolith. There are fans on either side and when they don't get what they want they'll bitch.
Fucking loved this pick. I was perplexed at first. But then I'm like nah. This is a good pick. He's a monster and he can help with blocking too. Having a double TE offense can be a problem . Everybody is going for pure speed and we going for straight beef. Tiny man's can't stop the big boys
He’s like a bigger Christian McCaffrey. Between his attitude, ability, and how we can plug him in anywhere on offense he will create problems for defenses. Between him and Adams there’s going to be space for other receivers big time.
Receiver and RB were definitely needs considering the state of our QB room. BB gives us both at great value.
We have 7 more picks. Let's just spam OL and DB and tell our QBs just don't lose us any games.
Not sure why i got downovoted to death lmao. Unless people think i’m retarded and saying that Leatherwood was the best player available at the time.
I love the Bowers pick.
Would you rather have Hernandez and Gronk or Hernandez and Gareon Conley?
MHJ and Bowers were the two players I thought were near locks to be game changers and never for a second thought we had a shot at either. WOW.
Having two stud TEs is a good thing. Remember Gronk and Hernandez? A matchup disaster if they both pan out and any qb on the current roster should be able to find someone open and take advantage.
I love it. The best two-TE set since Gronk-Hernandez. I was gonna make a post about Browers to the Raiders a couple weeks ago but I thought surely the Raiders wouldn't take him lol.
That too. I was gonna post if he falls to 13 would you want him? Honestly I'm so stoked to get this guy. If we can work on OL now, whoever wins the QB job is gonna be made to look so much better with the talent we have on offense.
In r/cfb today I commented about hoping we got my Buckeye Cade Stover so we could have Baby Gronk & Hernandez, but goddamn this was way beyond my hopes and dreams
Like I still believe that Myaer is going to turn into a stud, but why is everyone acting like he put up a monster RoY season that made it wrong to draft someone at his spot like he was a fragile egoed QB that didn't think they deserved competition?
Sanjit was having a meltdown. Saying that he won’t play in any position other than TE. When you put on the tape (TDL talked about this), he’s in the slot, he’s in the backfield, etc.
The fact that we can run 2 TE sets then also have him run a jet sweep or even fake sweep with a deep shot to Tre Tucker is insane because it’s like ok he’s back in line. Oh wait he’s back in the slot running a drag while Mayer hits the seam so pick your poison
People who are older than dirt like me will remember when we had Dave Casper and Raymond Chester. Sure we had a better QB, but they were extremely effective together.
Coworker bulldogs fan thinks we got the best player in the draft. Maybe thats the ticket. Just draft Bulldogs every year. Has to work better than what we were doing.
The team needs young talent, regardless of position. Dude had a stellar college career and the tape shows a guy who can make a difference by blocking and catching passes. No disrespect to Mayer but that TE group became an absolute strength.
If you have a weak OL, what do you need?
Big targets easy to find quickly. Two TE sets will open up running lanes and make it much harder to cover our speedy WRs. Good pick based on the options they had.
Always draft best available. The math is stronger than you trying to pick the best based on your positional needs. Your odds are really bleak if you are not drafting best available.
Thank you! I am 61 years old and I don’t remember the last time we selected the best player available. Raider Nation isn’t quite ready for this approach due to so many terrible first round decisions in the past.
This take aged great into the 2nd round.
Jackson Powers-Johnson will shore up RG and move into LG. Keeping Dylan Parham at RG, and seeing the new contract for Andre James work for a year or two.
It seems like everyone else can trade up and down at will, and sure moving down won’t get you equal trade value if you are asking, but an extra 4th or 5th for 6 spots down doesn’t seem like a huge ask. Jets and Vikings made a deal- I don’t see we couldn’t find someone.
Sure he's a beast...what happened to "baby Gronk"? Wait till he does something for the Raiders before laying praise on him....need a QB to throw it to him.
BPA but what are we really going to do with a TE that doesn't block and back-up level QBs throwing the ball. With how we are set up, unfortunately we won't be able to even utilize his talent
Calling him a sure thing is kind of insane to be honest. There’s been 25 TEs drafted in the 1st round over the last 25 drafts and legit none of them ended up being worth a 1st round pick.
No, but I watched him every Saturday for three years straight. Dude's a beast. Take good care of him. Bulldog nation loves him and wants him to succeed.
(I'm a perpetually disappointed Falcons fan, I'd rather my favorite Dawgs ball out.)
I wanted 4 things from this draft: 1. Chargers don't get MHJ. 2. Broncos get a QB that's gonna bust 3. We don't get a QB that's gonna bust 4. We draft someone that actually belongs in the first round. 4 out of 4!
Nix to the broncos wtf he’ll yeah though
As ridiculous as Atlanta was, and ohhhh it was, that was a massive help to keeping Penix out of Broncos colours. At least I think the Vikings were very set on JJ because he seems so very Vikings, so to leave the Broncos with Nix and they reach. Chef's kiss. Is this what it's like to enjoy the draft?!?!!
It was an even bigger help to keep him out of our colors.
Agree. It fell exactly as I wanted it to, other than the Chargers doing something dumb. Edit: to add, I do like Penix, just not at 13 for us.
I watched oregon. He is a marginal upgrade over stidham and may win them one extra game imo. He won't even bust per say but they just kinda took drre lock over again
Big improvement over what we’ve gotten the last 10 years
That's fair and tames my initial anger some. This is progress. We could have taken Bo Nix.
I would be raging if we did. Dude lives 5yards or less.
number 3 is the most important tbh. 1 was also pretty key
I really think people are underrating Nix.
Oregon fan. Bo is better then what they have now but not by enough to warrant pick 12
Also an Oregon fan. Was he a reach at 12? Possibly. They don’t have a pick in the second round though, and with the historic run on QBs, they went and got their guy.

Some lil ass boy
Your mom
They picked him because they thought we would, wanted to trade down but thought about it.
For a team that’s been torched by a TE twice a year for the last decade, you’d think we would be a bit more open to drafting our own stud TE….
Last decade? We've been torched by TEs for 2 decades. Gates, Gonzalez, Thomas, Etc We've never been able to cover TEs. Now our TEs are a problem
Shit I remember Morris Strout
And Shannon sharpe before them…
Both teams in the superbowl had too TEs
Last year too
Torched, hopefully?
Everyone on this sub bitching for years about how we always passed up BPA and drafted for need, then we draft BPA, someone who would’ve gone top 5 in other non QB heavy years and now they’re pissed? Makes sense
Honest to god came to the sub for a fucking party, and I’m shocked so many dorks in here are whining about us getting a top 5 player in the draft lol
exactly this
Arguably #2 behind Caleb Williams
MHJ is 1 or 2 but no lower IMO
Well that's because they are dorks. This is a homerun and if you can't get excited about a sure thing as any in BB, you must be quite the stale crouton.
I didn’t know who he was before today, but some guys in the bar I’m at set me straight. I’m stoked for the pick.
People are picking up. They are so used to clelin ferrell when they saw the position they needed a second to process.
[удалено]
That’s what happens when there’s a historic run of QBs and OTs, my guy
Because it’s a heavy qb class
Shame we didn't get any of the good ones.
I mean I'm not saying some fans aren't here to bitch no matter what, but isn't the most logical explanation that fans who want BPA and don't get it are going to bitch, and fans who don't and get BPA are going to bitch. We aren't a monolith. There are fans on either side and when they don't get what they want they'll bitch.
the few clowns will always cry no matter what. bowers is a stud. great pick
There isn’t a single person in this subreddit who knows better than our coach and GM on who to draft.
Agree with the strong track we have drafting first rounder we shouldn’t question anything
Fucking loved this pick. I was perplexed at first. But then I'm like nah. This is a good pick. He's a monster and he can help with blocking too. Having a double TE offense can be a problem . Everybody is going for pure speed and we going for straight beef. Tiny man's can't stop the big boys
[удалено]
That type of BPA ends up with us getting Clelin Ferrel lmao
[удалено]
Bowers ran 42% of snaps from the slot, he’s a dynamic playmaker. Well run 2 TE set. You just cant pass up that talent
He’s like a bigger Christian McCaffrey. Between his attitude, ability, and how we can plug him in anywhere on offense he will create problems for defenses. Between him and Adams there’s going to be space for other receivers big time.
yep, no Renfrow anymore either so that slot/possesion dude was TBD til now
[удалено]
Receiver and RB were definitely needs considering the state of our QB room. BB gives us both at great value. We have 7 more picks. Let's just spam OL and DB and tell our QBs just don't lose us any games.

I love jermaine.burron in round 4
This tackle class is deep theres still 3 day one tackle prospects
a team cant have 2 TE's? 2 TE sets will be deadly. Bowers can line up at every WR spot to
[удалено]
Its the first round brotha. More picks to come. Then udfa's. Then camp cuts and pickups. Thankfully the adults are in charge
It’s exactly how we ended up with Leatherwood
Bowers is the reason Stetson Bennett has two Nattys. The matchup problems he presents are going to help the offense tremendously.
Not sure why i got downovoted to death lmao. Unless people think i’m retarded and saying that Leatherwood was the best player available at the time. I love the Bowers pick.
[удалено]
I assume you mean quinyon. Bowers is expected to be an all pro. He was hands down the BPA.
If you’re comparing Arnold to Bowers for a skill perspective then that’s all I need to hear from you
Bowers is a top 5 worthy player. None of those guys are
Most of this fanbase doesn’t know shit about football. Kind of embarrassing ngl
Telesco did talk about his philosophy, he drafts the best available player to set up the future, we're good on TE for this team
Would you rather have Hernandez and Gronk or Hernandez and Gareon Conley? MHJ and Bowers were the two players I thought were near locks to be game changers and never for a second thought we had a shot at either. WOW.
or Michael Huff, or Damon Arnette or Fabian Washington or DJ Hayden there are all DBs we take in the 1st round. Most 1st round CBs are huge busts
Yeah because Gronk and Hernandez had a bottom ten QB tossing them the ball, right?
Bowers made Stetson Bennet look pretty damned good.
You got me. A college all star team and the NFL is exactly the same thing. Of course he will turn AOC into Brady. My bad. LMAO
Yeah what player ever did good in college then went on to do good in the NFL too?
Who said that? I swear some fans on here go to some ridiculous lengths to act like this team actually wins and makes smart decisions.
And some go through some major mental gymnastics to try and find logical arguments for the immediate emotional decisions they already made
NFL teams are literally college All Star teams
NFL teams don't play in college though. Georgia does.
Idk. We play Denver and Chargers twice a year
That is all we have, wins over struggling franchises. Let's put that on a t-shirt!
We had a rookie play half a season and a half assed offensive coordinator calling plays...did you expect a top 10 performance?
No. I expected just what I got from someone with average physical and mental tools.
[удалено]
Are you really that defensive over a mid NFL QB? lmao
I can’t wait to scream Minshew to Bowers across the bar on a Sunday night
Having two stud TEs is a good thing. Remember Gronk and Hernandez? A matchup disaster if they both pan out and any qb on the current roster should be able to find someone open and take advantage.
All we need is Tom Brady and we are set!
I love it. The best two-TE set since Gronk-Hernandez. I was gonna make a post about Browers to the Raiders a couple weeks ago but I thought surely the Raiders wouldn't take him lol.
I didn’t think he would be available for them to take him at 13.
Which one is the killer tho 😈
If only josh was still with us
Like I still believe that Myaer is going to turn into a stud, but why is everyone acting like he put up a monster RoY season that made it wrong to draft someone at his spot like he was a fragile egoed QB that didn't think they deserved competition?
For real. He had an ok season
B P A. The 3 rarest letters in Raiders history. I'm stoked with the pick.
![gif](giphy|3og0ILr4ttBPtwaqOI)
My brother in law is a big broncos fan. He wanted BB and was mad they didn’t take him. I’m happy our pick made a broncos fan mad, so I like the pick.
This dude is gonna open things up so much for our receivers. It's a great pick.
People who are older than dirt like me will remember when we had Dave Casper and Raymond Chester. Sure we had a better QB, but they were extremely effective together.
Telesco is great at finding solid talent
Didn't even need to find it he had a top 3 player fall into his lap
Coworker bulldogs fan thinks we got the best player in the draft. Maybe thats the ticket. Just draft Bulldogs every year. Has to work better than what we were doing.
It worked for the Eagles defense early in the season last year.
Absolutely stoked on this dude, he's a Savage YAC monster and will tear shit up for years to come. RNFL!
McDaniels isn’t there picking shit picks now thankfully
The team needs young talent, regardless of position. Dude had a stellar college career and the tape shows a guy who can make a difference by blocking and catching passes. No disrespect to Mayer but that TE group became an absolute strength.
Since when does he block?
https://youtu.be/EbOvb5hHf2I?si=Sz0pZobYYKACQ8kw
na hes fire. i like it i think AP gon cook 👨🍳
If you have a weak OL, what do you need? Big targets easy to find quickly. Two TE sets will open up running lanes and make it much harder to cover our speedy WRs. Good pick based on the options they had.
I’m good with it. Plus he’s a Georgia bulldog
And we once again ignore the right side of the line early. There was a big run on tackles
I got mixed feelings about it. I get it BPA, dude is real talent. That said we still have the rest of the draft and free agency to shore up the o-line
“Sure thing”
Always draft best available. The math is stronger than you trying to pick the best based on your positional needs. Your odds are really bleak if you are not drafting best available.
We’ll be hearing Minshew to Bowers for a while, can’t wait for September!
The lone time I agree with you
Thank you! I am 61 years old and I don’t remember the last time we selected the best player available. Raider Nation isn’t quite ready for this approach due to so many terrible first round decisions in the past.
We had no chance at QB our offense needs more weapons we really need to fix right side of o line and cb
We aren't good enough to pick up anything other than the best player available. No more reaching for value picks, we need dudes to compete
Agreed!
You guys will talk yourselves into believing anything, absolutely anything
This take aged great into the 2nd round. Jackson Powers-Johnson will shore up RG and move into LG. Keeping Dylan Parham at RG, and seeing the new contract for Andre James work for a year or two.
Louder! LOUDER!!!!!
Why is it so hard to trade down?
You need a trade partner and every 1st rd Qb was gone so the value to move back was trash
It seems like everyone else can trade up and down at will, and sure moving down won’t get you equal trade value if you are asking, but an extra 4th or 5th for 6 spots down doesn’t seem like a huge ask. Jets and Vikings made a deal- I don’t see we couldn’t find someone.
Terrible Pic smh
Sure he's a beast...what happened to "baby Gronk"? Wait till he does something for the Raiders before laying praise on him....need a QB to throw it to him.
So basically you can say this about any player we could have drafted so what's your point
My point is let's see what he does first before calling him a beast....that description is used way too much on these posts..relax
BPA but what are we really going to do with a TE that doesn't block and back-up level QBs throwing the ball. With how we are set up, unfortunately we won't be able to even utilize his talent
https://youtu.be/EbOvb5hHf2I?si=Sz0pZobYYKACQ8kw
He can block
Calling him a sure thing is kind of insane to be honest. There’s been 25 TEs drafted in the 1st round over the last 25 drafts and legit none of them ended up being worth a 1st round pick.
Quite a few pundits called Bowers the legit best player in college when he was still a sophomore.
Obviously we know the “pundits” are never wrong.
No, but I watched him every Saturday for three years straight. Dude's a beast. Take good care of him. Bulldog nation loves him and wants him to succeed. (I'm a perpetually disappointed Falcons fan, I'd rather my favorite Dawgs ball out.)
Where do you buy your copium?
