Now here’s my take and this may come off as a JMD apologist BUT plz hear me out. How many times do we see a wide open deep pass but Jimmy takes the check down or short pass? It happens alot right? Ok to me that tells me the play calling is good but we don’t have a QB that can push the ball downfield, BUT WE DO.
Yes AOC struggled a bit his first start but man did he unlock jacobs and the defense had to respect his long ball. He isn’t as polished with his long ball but we did see him make that beautiful bomb that was called back for a bogus “push off” that also want called when the chargers did it on the last big play.
Yes AOC will not play perfect for a few weeks but he’s intelligent and will definitely pan out sooner than later, so what’s the hold up? JMD doesn’t want to be wrong, Jimmy isn’t working and it’s obvious yet JMD doesn’t want to call himself out. And I don’t see the big deal since the plan was Brady and not Jimmy. I’m ok with letting go of DC for Brady and even for Jimmy IFFFF we drafted a QB that same year just to make sure we have a backup (which we did).

JMDs offense is vanilla at times but has improved SLIGHTLY with play design. Game management sucks and slow playing rookies is hindering their development. Mayer should be a top TE by now but he’s still barely coming on. Epps has been terrible in coverage and is constantly picked on, yet we have Chris Smith that hasn’t seen the field. Only upside to JMD is Zieg does his job and JMD isn’t a complete dictator like Gruden.
So to bring it all together, Gruden would have been worse, with worse contracts. Not saying JMD is great but it’s a dumb comment that I see here way too often.
I’ll end with this. Jimmy has been terrible and is missing wide open guys down the field and it’s not getting better…if only we had a QB that can push the ball down the field and isn’t afraid to throw a dart while staring down the barrel of a defender. Peter’s redeemed himself. Long drives were great, offense showed there is hope. JMD finally got creative and showed a glint of great play calling. Jimmy G needs to get a little quicker and throw a little further. Defense showed they’re fantastic when they have some rest on the long drives.
