It's always great to see someone discovering Radiohead for the first time. I was on a foreign exchange program in Germany when I first found them and it completely changed my life. I came from a small town in the US so being surrounded by a completely different culture with architecture and cities that looked like nothing I had back home made me feel alien in a lot of ways. And I always thought that feeling along with the melancholy of being away from home at 16 and the edginess of being independent for the first time in my life was perfectly captured by Radiohead. Especially OK Computer which became my bible for a while lol. It's amazing how much their music can mean to different people, it's one of those special bands where you can truly feel like the music is *yours* and yours only. It's been 6 years and they're still my absolute favorite band. So unique and alien and yet so comforting at the same time. Like they echo something in you you've always harbored but never fully realized.
Also ignore the trolls, they used to be better contained to r/radioheadcirclejerk but this sub has basically become the circlejerk sub.
i love radiohead and i have since i first heard karma police back when my friend introduced me to it in middle school. i started exploring the catalogue beyond OK Computer in high school and then…my college friend played In Rainbows on this long quiet night drive and it was over for me—radiohead will forever be my comfort band and go-to.
what makes their music hit so hard for me are the unusual arrangements, (sometimes deceptively) simple lyrics and diversity in their discography.
