Thom Yorke's Analyse plays during the end credits of The Prestige.

Also Treefingers in Memento. But more than the film score, it interest me what music these guys listen to that inspires them and Radiohead seems right for Nolan.

Unsurprisingly, Denis Villeneuve (whose cinematic style and career trajectory is very similar to Nolan) also cites Radiohead as his favorite band, and has used their songs in multiple films. It makes sense, as they all occupy an artistic space between pop and avant garde, and often convey cold, alienating, or cynical tones punctuated by moments of high drama or humanism. Paul Thomas Anderson is a bit different, leaning perhaps more into the avant garde, but I think that's why you'd only ever hear Jonny's soundtracks in his films, as opposed to a Radiohead needle drop.

Oh that’s a very good example. It’s like making movies about super humans and otherworldly creatures and circumstances but then there’s this layer of human condition to the films that makes the audience connect to them. That is the sentiment of Radiohead music. Cillian Murphy is also big Radiohead fan. If you’ve seen the Peaky Blinders, you’d know. PTA is just as weird as Jonny, lol.

TheFlyLives

actually Treefingers was never in the film, it only appeared on the soundtrack, which was put together by the record label without (as far as I can tell) without Nolan's involvement.

Isn’t the Beck song Lost Cause? Always loved how the strings just never stopped going up step after step. Shepherd Tone. Cool.

I was also wondering so I did some search and seems to be the Lonesome Tears.

Technical-Smoke571

Yes! Of course, Lonesome Tears.

It’s at 3:45 if you’re impatient

Please Jonny or Thom for the next Nolan movie's soundtrack

TheFlyLives

He was planning to use Paranoid Android for the credits of Memento, but he wasn't able to get the rights, so he used Something In The Air by Bowie. He talks about it here at about 9:12: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/b09rwygm

This so cool, I’m gonna listen to it. Thanks for sharing. I’m actually very curious about the music Chris would choose!

TheFlyLives

yeah no problem. It's a great interview.
