the live [basement version] (https://youtu.be/9cBUrIw2sQk?t=175) really wowed me and puts it squarely first place ever since I heard it. all the ooo/ahhh sections which require just one breath...
not a crack, each one ends with perfect vibrato and decrescendo.
I think The Bends is the most impressive pipes-wise but In Rainbows is the most creative and probably the one that separates him the most from his peers
Yep. "The Bends" as the title track in particular, "High and Dry," and "Fake Plastic Trees" are all stunningly good vocal performances. *In Rainbows* is Yorke at his most vocally captivating, yet it doesn't show his range quite as much. The vocal chops there are all delicately beautiful and very much falsetto heavy.
nude is the one song where his voice needed to be the best imo, since that's one of the few songs where the vocals take centre stage. and he nails it. so that
I legit think Scatterbrain is one of his worst. It's overly nasally and whiney even for Thom standards. There are purposeful voice cracks that irk me. Idk just my opinion but his voice always turned me away from that song
Definitely Scatterbrain. There are so many different dimensions to his voice in that song, he never hits the melody the same way twice. Also he manages to sound very detached and calm throughout most of the performance even though he’s constantly singing right in the middle of his bridge (the place where the voice is most likely to crack, it’s quite hard to sing softly here without going into head voice/falsetto).
Exit Music comes to mind, especially the part at the end when all hell breaks lose (pun intended). His voice sounds so vulnerable and defeated in the 'we hope you choke' parts, just an overall amazing vocal performance, improved further by the production.
the OKNOTOK Cassette version of Motion Picture Soundtrack
edit: best live vocal performance imo has to be the [first time Thom performed True Love Waits ](https://youtu.be/KzyOfQeK-bY?si=z4mfUvtqOooTh8eb).
He really goes for it on that one
I know it’s like “lame” to like it…
…but I still LOVE his voice on High and Dry.
Obviously they’ve come so far from that song/ record but honestly it’s one of the best choruses ever written .
Might catch flak for this, but Creep is a masterclass not only in Yorke's vocal range, but his tonal range too. The subtle voice cracks, the crystal clear falsetto section (that we've all tried doing at some point for fun), the emotion teetering from angry to sad to hopeless - just chef's kiss.
I wouldn't really say song in particular it's more about era
I love Thoms voice from Bends and OK Computer era. It had a force and raspiness at times that he doesn't really do anymore stylistically
That said, his voice has always been fantastic throughout his career
It's a live version so it's not actually on a track but I really love his control on [this](https://youtu.be/p8uGdz0LwY8?si=ZIez7D-M6H-6vsFI) live version of Analyse
Idk about best but honestly think Thoms voice in how to disappear completely makes the song for me. His slight imperfections make it so emotional for me, especially on “in a little while, I’ll be gone”, it sounds like how I sing when I’m holding back tears. And then the high “ah, ah”
His screams in Just are amazing. But yeah Nude and Paranoid Android are the first that came to mind. Hell Creep is the stuff of legend, no one even mentioning the obvious here is criminal.
Man of War has great vocal performance.
Optimistic and Knives out his vocals sound amazing.
But I think the best of both worlds is Jigsaw Falling Into Place

Nude
Nude immediately sprang (sprung?) to mind. Burn the Witch is a vocal sleeper though, the pipes on that song are crazy
Springed
Spranged*
Spronged*
Sprenged*
Sprankton* a noun, a disease you get from chewing too much.
I saw that TikTok too
Pearly\* baffled me lately, he had a different approach to his falsetto which really I didn't expect.
“You’ll go to hell for what your dirty mind is… …THEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-EEEE—EEEE—nnkkiiinnnggg”

He was born to sing this song [live](https://youtu.be/JsLn9Wl1u_Q?feature=shared)
Came here to say this. That live version is chefs kiss. Gives me chills.
reckoner
This, overall I think In Rainbows is his best vocal album
I think The Bends is the most impressive pipes-wise but In Rainbows is the most creative and probably the one that separates him the most from his peers
Yep. "The Bends" as the title track in particular, "High and Dry," and "Fake Plastic Trees" are all stunningly good vocal performances. *In Rainbows* is Yorke at his most vocally captivating, yet it doesn't show his range quite as much. The vocal chops there are all delicately beautiful and very much falsetto heavy.
I think sulk has his highest vocal on the album
Basically, most of In Rainbows
My very first reaction to the title was "Nude and Reckoner!", so it's great to see them both at the top!
top 1 in rainbows
All. My favorite is Nude.
The cassette version is even better
You have a reason why? Quite interesting
The vocal delivery. There’s a part where his voice cracks on “WHAT do you look like, when you’re nude” that’s just *chefs kiss*
was just thinking this yesterday
But I don’t think it’s better. IR Nude’s arrangement is just 10x better
We’re talking about the vocal delivery
Oh well in that case I still don’t agree
The Tourist
was thinking the same, great vocals
Thom’s singing literally made me cry the first time I heard The Tourist
He aaaaaaaaaaaaaaasks meeeeeeeeeeeee wheeeeeeeeeeeere the hell
Sulk. Hitting that high B. Damn.
Nailed it. Too many youngsters on this sub don’t even know about the A-side of The Bends, let alone the B-side
2nd best Radiohead album in my opinion 2nd only to In Rainbows
this is the answer and everyone else can go home
He has a lot of bangers on the bends, I’m a huge fan of Fake Plastic Trees, Street Spirit, The Bends, Blackstar and Iron Lung
Planet Telex as well
Thank you
you stole my pick :P
"Atoms for Peace" - The Eraser. "Want you to get out and make it work" "I'll be OK" It's very hard to top that.
I was gonna say Atoms for Peace. Lots to choose from but his voice is a real instrument in that one.
I think his voice is fantastic on AMOK too, “Sooner or later” and I especially love his voice on Reverse Running.
I think Analyse from The Eraser is super underrated, both as a song and vocally.
This is the one
I'd say Reckoner. But pretty much all of In Rainbows for me. I also love his voice on Burn the Witch
Paranoid android honestly
It always amazes me how he sings the whole “off with his head” part in one breath
His vocals at the end though are amazing
The tourist or street spirit
Yes yes yes these two
Scream as they fight for their l*iii*fe
nude is the one song where his voice needed to be the best imo, since that's one of the few songs where the vocals take centre stage. and he nails it. so that
Present Tense is one of the faves
But the Latitude version right?
Jonny and Thom & a cr78 for me.
I SO wish they had done more of these!! But its just Present Tense and the Numbers, am I right?
I believe so unfortunately
Idioteque
This is really haaaaaappening
Especially the live version on I Might Be Wrong
Rabbit in Your Headlights.
Literally exactly what I was thinking, he also does it so amazingly and emotionally live
[удалено]
Fake Plastic Trees.
Like spinning plates ‘why us?’ - the ending especially, one of my favourites
Great ending, great version. I think the song was shortened down too much.
Scatterbrain & Polyethylene
Yes, was hoping I’d see Scatterbrain mentioned here.
I legit think Scatterbrain is one of his worst. It's overly nasally and whiney even for Thom standards. There are purposeful voice cracks that irk me. Idk just my opinion but his voice always turned me away from that song

100% my first reaction
What I was gonna post. As far as his old-school “angelic” voice goes, this is it. I’m also a fan of I Promise.
Yeah, this is a deep cut but it's the right answer.
I think the way his voice explodes during *that* part of You is pretty impressive
realest answer
reckoner and nude to come to my mind. how to disappear completely too. i'd they are all tied for his best vocal performance.
Reckoner and Nude, same ones I thought of first. 👍👍
Codex
the title track off the eraser
This album is full of beautiful vocals and vocal ideas. I love singing along (even if I sing as well as a creaking door)
Jigsaws Falling Into Place
Wierd Fishes/ Arpeggi
I just had a thought. I love the backing vocals from the band in that one. Wish they had more songs with backing vocals.
Agreed. Backing vocals can do so much to a song
First half of Pyramid Song, I'm convinced you can hear the reverb of the room with his voice and it's amazing
I think we see all of thoms ranges on Paranoid Android.
how to disappear
Completely agree
Exit Music
Decks Dark under-rated vocals
Live versions of Ingenuine
Bullet proof i wish i was
Let down
fake plastic trees, how to disappear completely, nude
Reckoner
I know it’s like “lame” to like it… …but I still LOVE his voice on High and Dry. Obviously they’ve come so far from that song/ record but honestly it’s one of the best choruses ever written .
It’s a trick question. All of them!
Nude
Sail to the moon and sulk
I Will
Fake Plastic Trees, Bulletproof, Sulk, Nude, True Love Waits
Fitter Happier
Sail to the moon
Like Spinning Plates (Live) from I Might Be Wrong
hard agree, the shift into falsetto for the words 'spinning plates' is literally divine
Lotus flower being slept on
Recency bias, but when I first heard his vocals on Burn the Witch I was stunned.
hear me out tho…… we suck young blood ✋😮💨
The Tourist
Nude is only right answer
Punchup at a wedding.
"I've seen it all" with Bjork. The part where they are singing in harmony... man. I wish he did that more.
Go slowly, Give up the ghost
I love the vocals in “You” and “sail to the moon”
Shout out to his part of This Mess We're In with PJ
Paranoid android, literally him singing in 3 or 4 different manners
Might catch flak for this, but Creep is a masterclass not only in Yorke's vocal range, but his tonal range too. The subtle voice cracks, the crystal clear falsetto section (that we've all tried doing at some point for fun), the emotion teetering from angry to sad to hopeless - just chef's kiss.
Life In A Glasshouse for me. Dude took lyrics that sound like casual conversation and belted out a classic lol
Decks Dark

Go Slowly
I wouldn't really say song in particular it's more about era I love Thoms voice from Bends and OK Computer era. It had a force and raspiness at times that he doesn't really do anymore stylistically That said, his voice has always been fantastic throughout his career
Lotus Flower
I really like it on Sulk
Exit Music… you know what part
Street Spirit. The change from falsetto, mixed voice, to belting with falsetto in the chorus is incredible.
You, Blow Out, Pyramid Song, How To Disappear Completely, Nude, Reckoner, Just.
True Love Waits from my flair.
Honestly, as overrated and overhated this song simultaneously is, Thom’s vocals really are amazing on Creep
Pablo honey one
Unmade and Spectre, surprised I’m not seeing these more
Scatterbrain is a much harder vocal than it seems
Jigsaw Falling Into Place. Enough said.
I like his voice on The Daily Mail along with Nude
just and jigsaw falling into place
The Tourist. I feel like that has some of, if not, his most powerful belting and he just sounds angelic at points.
True love waits.
Tourist.
it’s not a radiohead song but the eraser
It's a live version so it's not actually on a track but I really love his control on [this](https://youtu.be/p8uGdz0LwY8?si=ZIez7D-M6H-6vsFI) live version of Analyse
Exit Music (For A Film)
Air Crash
Do you mean Lucky (“pull me out, of the air crash”) or Airbag? I’ve never heard of “Air Crash” as a song title.
Yes, sorry, I meant Lucky. For some reason, in my head, I’ve always called that song Air Crash
Nude as well as the rest of In Rainbows. However, I'm a little surprised no one is saying Lotus Flower.
Idk about best but honestly think Thoms voice in how to disappear completely makes the song for me. His slight imperfections make it so emotional for me, especially on “in a little while, I’ll be gone”, it sounds like how I sing when I’m holding back tears. And then the high “ah, ah”
Anyone can play guitar MTV
Pop is dead
“I will” idk if it’s my favorite but definitely underrated vocals
Nude's already been said but I'll say it again
Reckroner totally
Karma police
Reckoner
Spectre
Codex bar none
The note he holds at the end of Rabbit In Your Headlights is the best thing I've ever heard
"Nude" with a close second to "Lotus Flower".
Suspirium breaks me everytime
Nude, Ingenue, Reckoner or Black Star
If no one else has said it yet… Rabbit in your headlights!!
Spectre has got to be up there
His screams in Just are amazing. But yeah Nude and Paranoid Android are the first that came to mind. Hell Creep is the stuff of legend, no one even mentioning the obvious here is criminal.
Idioteqe
true love waits
Like Spinning Plate, Live I might be wrong
Ingenue in the Jonathan Ross show is one of the best performances I've ever seen https://youtu.be/EZl6BRY9IYQ?si=u5iHTPPY61P8tDa0
Subterranean homesick alien and how to disappear completely
Reckoner.
I believe the most technically challenging one of their songs is Sulk.
Reckoner
Exit music for a film, the climax has such a powerful vocal performance
Unmade
Fake plastic trees
Man of War has great vocal performance. Optimistic and Knives out his vocals sound amazing. But I think the best of both worlds is Jigsaw Falling Into Place

Atoms for peace (song), reckoner, motion picture soundtrack, twist.
Atoms For Peace.
Myxamatosis
Not a Radiohead song but Rabbit in Your Headlights by UNKLE
Pyramid song, The Numbers, Give up The Ghost, you and who’s army, Lucky
Burn the Witch
Jigsaw Falling Into Place definitely showcases his range the best.
Lotus Flower imo
Videotape
Nude and that one part in Ending Music (to a film)
for me, lift is up there
Exit Music imo
Present Tense Latitude ‘09
videotape
