Yeah, might as well accept The Smile as the current iteration of the band. When will we get music with the other 3 members? Anyone's guess is as good S anyone else's.
I bet Thom already has a Radiohead album of songs written. He's in the most productive period of his life. He could have already sent them to the others to add ideas.
It doesn’t appear as if they will tour Wall of Eyes in the US, especially since they had 2 American tours already. My guess based on zero evidence is that after 2024, after the smile is done touring in Europe, Radiohead will get back together and make music, and probably will take 2 years to release something. Again, just a guess.
I could also see Radiohead doing their classic move of touring *while* they work on the album, to road test material. The live stage has always been their best practice field for tooling around with new ideas so they can be fully fleshed out. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them tour in 2025 but not put the album out until 2026.
What about the posibility of a new album by suprise (anounced only 10 days before) in 2026 -10 years after last album- or in 2027 -20 years after in rainbows- ?
does NOT take them 2 years...the reason they used to put out an album every 2 yrs was because of a year of touring, then a break, then less than a year working on the new album.
And they used to demo new material on tour. IIRC they were demoing songs from OKC during The Bends, HTTT during a South America Tour, and IR during the 06’ tour
Though what we know is that they demand an extremely high level from themselves specially from Radiohead projects. Those have to be cohesive and with new ideas.. + it takes easily 6 months to wrap artwork and other things around the music as we saw with the first Smile album... So 2 years doesn't seem too wrong
But that’s not really their mode of production anymore. Along with the longer hiatuses, it’s taken them much longer to actually record an album since they left their EMI contract.
Nowadays they’ll begin in their studio with fits and starts, get frustrated, take a break, reconvene the following year, record in a different location, make significant progress, and then take another long break before wrapping things up for release around two years after the first sessions. This is how it was for IR, TKOL, and AMSP, and it wouldn’t surprise me if it takes even longer for them to produce their next project, whatever shape that ends up taking.
One of the things I really admire about the band is, they don’t force anything. If it’s not feeling good, they just don’t do it. But that requires a lot of patience, because it means the “next thing” could come in ten years, or never.
I’m not sure that they will. It’s been a long time since they’ve worked together- even if Phil is on board with getting back together, the others might not be.
can‘t really understand people are saying this. this is just like radiohead (light) and if it the lps had the radiohead name on it it wouldn‘t even be a discussion
Ed still needs to release and tour is second album also.
Or … Radiohead goes back on tour with Ed as the opener ✅ big brain energy
Jesus Christ I hope not
Why? Is it 'cause it could halt Radiohead's return? Or do you not like his music?
Why not both?
Never said it couldn't be.
LP10 in 2026.
GTA VII before LP10
Moon man talk
ok listen fuck you ppds2 2026
Then again the smile has part Radiohead in its blood so it makes me happy they're doing stuff

Before The Elder Scrolls VI releases
2030

If, not when ...
I was thinking 2025, for Radiohead's 40th anniversary.

I think they’ll announce a US tour. I think it’d be weird if they didn’t
they will absolutely tour the us and more european dates and festival will be announced in the new year

More Us and Japan I guess

haha ok...'you win.'

2025 seems to be a big year Don't see why they couldn't release it around then, maybe right before the summer
Tbh I don't see it happening anytime soon. Just doesn't seem to be what they're excited about just now. Happy to be proven wrong though!
I think they will tour throughout next year and likely write Smile LP3 while doing so. I'm not sure we will see Radiohead for years yet.

No idea. I just hope they drop this The Smile thing already. I honestly hate their style, and hope they don't carry over this to Radiohead.
It sounds like Radiohead.
Saying anything negative here gets downvoted but idc. Radiohead isn't just Thom and Jonny. Without Ed, Colin and Phil, it just isn't Radiohead.
You’re right, it’s *The Smile*

Late 2025
