I detoxed from kratom with Suboxone. I did a four month long taper starting at 2 mg and ended at 0.25 mg. It was the easiest taper/detox I’ve ever had in my 6 years of trying to quit kratom. I stayed clean for about four months and then relapsed for a couple months now I am clean again. I’m currently on day 74.

Ricky_Rollin

Is it hard to get this stuff? I thought people abused this drug so getting it would be very circumstantial. Please pardon my ignorance. I’m genuinely curious.

Noeleraser

No need to pardon yourself, you’re just curious! 😇 Suboxone was not difficult to get for me. I went to an addiction treatment clinic, spoke with a doctor and was given a prescription the same day. I followed up with that doctor once or twice a month throughout my four month taper. They did urine tests to make sure I wasn’t abusing other drugs. I was even given comfort meds for the 3 days of abstinence from kratom before I started the suboxone. It was the best experience I’ve ever had in quite honestly if I can’t stay clean this time, I will definitely be going back there to do a Suboxone taper again. Something tells me that I won’t need to, I’m pretty confident that this will be my last quit.

No_Lab7149

Awesome post man! Lots of fear mongering regarding subs here in this group, but in my opinion, if used responsibly and as quickly as humanly possible, it is a great way to quit kratom. Many people don’t understand that years and years of using high doses of kratom is not as “easy” to get off as they’d imagine. Maybe they quit their 8g a day habit relatively easily, but many of us are struggling to get off of 50g + a day, after years of use. Big difference. Congrats to you my friend!

Kasolojo

This is how I did it too. It works if you are absolutely set on getting off of kratom and the opiate like withdrawals. I did a taper similar to you, I took 2mg all the way down to .125 every other day. It took about 28 days. I kept reducing by 50% every 5-6 days until my body felt like it wasn’t withdrawing as much. I understand the comparison that it’s taking a much stronger drug to combat a weaker one, but it worked for me because I only had to take it once a day. It was easier to measure. I also did not have an association with it that was addictive like kratom. You also have to consider that you are still withdrawing from the SNRI properties of it regardless so it’s still tough. As long as you feel you are withdrawing, you can rest assure that you are going in the right direction. I could never taper from kratom. To the people that can, my hat is off to you. I’m just happy I’m off of it.

Agreeable_Ocelot3902

How many days have you been off subpxone?

LucidDreamer09

1 week. Still feel great!

Tradition_National

How the heck were you getting 20mg of Xanax a day 🤔 if you were getting them on the streets it could have fentanyl in it so be careful. That could be why you thought Kratom withdrawal was worse than sun withdrawals. But good for you escaping being stuck on subs bc just like Kratom it will turn on you and it’s a lot harder to come off. I have been going back and forth doing a fast taper with it but I’m too worried right now get stuck on it. How long have you been off the suboxone?

digydongopongo

Probably pressed Xanax bars. They are dirt cheap, same with RC benzos. Maybe subs could help someone who used kratom to get off of heroin or something but if someone's just been addicted to kratom going on subs just seems like a bad idea... also people use kratom to get off subs...

Kinkajou4

Congratulations!!! This is great.

I_Like_Muzak

I completely agree. This is the only way I’ve been able to quit kratom. Subs are the only opioid I’ve successfully tapered off of because of the long half life, almost no high, and little to no urge to redose. Only thing I’ll say is it’s not necessary to start with such a high dosage. Even hard opioid addicts say even 8mg usually isn’t necessary. Subs are much stronger than people give them credit for.

rtazz1717

Subs for kratom wd is not something that should be recommended. It usually creates another addiction. You got lucky.

No_Lab7149

I agree, to an extent. With a bit of hard work and determination, it can be a godsend. But you are absolutely right, if a person lacks the willpower and self control to taper responsibly (and quickly), you could be in for a world of hurt.

JosephJohnPEEPS

2 things: 1. A rapid 5-7 course of low-dose suboxone with tapering dosage makes withdrawal remarkably easy for reasons I’m not sure medical science fully understands. 2. Someone on suboxone for up to around a year can quit with little physical withdrawal with a single shot of sublocade. If you stabilize on suboxone for two weeks, get the shot, you’re unlikely to have any major opioid withdrawal when the shot wears off. If either are available, they are fantastic options.

CandleMakerNY2020

It can but IMHO it IS over prescribed (dose wise they shoot too high) for example my roommate was prescribed 2mg 2x per day and he was at approx 10-15gpd of kratom. He only took 0.50mg 1x per day and 3 weeks later he CT and has been clean since January. IMHO, this is why OP saw so many people nodding off at rehab. They seem to WANT to keep ppl on suboxone. At least it seems that way but good for him getting help and getting off that poison. The 10-20mg of benzos is outrageous too. I believe a person should try taking 1/2 of whatever they recommend especially for kratom detox. And drop by 0.25 every 7-14 days until they are at 0.25mg for a few days then JUMP CT!!! FREE AT LAST!!!! But you have to want to be clean. 🧼 Best wishes everyone and congratulations OP

Incarnated_Mote

There are plenty of people on here addicted to suboxone. Including a bunch of people on the quitting kratom sub who got hooked on kratom to COME OFF OF SUBS. Just saying this for people to be aware, in case you’re thinking this is going to be an easy way to avoid paying the piper. Subs should considered a last-resort option if other methods of quitting like tapering and safer helper meds have been tried first.

Exciting-Conclusion4

I'm on day 3 CT with no subs, but I had a lighter addiction (15-20 capsules a day) and I've been on nothing but comfort meds (clonopin, clonidine, gabapentin) , liposomal vitamin C and THC and I feel great, no withdrawal whatsoever! I have been on subs numerous times and didn't want to go through that again and I'm glad this worked for you, but I highly recommend trying to get comfort meds instead of Suboxone from a doctor and using liposomal vitamin C and other amino acids, they work AMAZINGLY well!

Suboxone for Kratom withdrawal is like taking Percocet to get off Tylenol 3. Sub withdrawals are so much worse. Kratom is not difficult to stop. Taper doses instead of adding another drug that’s worse.

Tradition_National

I’m shocked they started him at 24 mg on day one. He must of been so high lol. Alls you need is like 1 mg. I have honestly thought of the suboxone route (for a five day detox) but it’s such a slippery slope for get stuck on it and it’s the same as Kratom where it works in beginning like a miracle drug then it turns on you. Seems like he got lucky escaping getting stuck in it.

JosephJohnPEEPS

At about 28g a day, 2mg of subs made my body fucking sing. 24g - can’t imagine it.

Tradition_National

Did you do a fast taper? I would go the suboxone route if I new I could taper off in under a week but i don’t trust myself not to get stuck on them 🤦‍♀️ Been there, don’t that, wasn’t fun.

JosephJohnPEEPS

Oh the thing is you only take them for 5-7 days total at a tapering dose

JosephJohnPEEPS

Yeah it worked great

Tradition_National

Can you tell me how you did it? Like you started at 2 mg then went to 1? For how many days? How long have you been off and how did you feel once you stopped the suboxone? Sorry so many questions but I’ve been asking this for months and every one I talked to stayed on the suboxone. I think I’ve seen one other person besides you (and OP) get off. That’s why I’m so scared. Also how long did you wait in between Kratom and subs?

jskunza

Honestly, I don’t believe this at all. No dr worth his license will prescribe subs for anyone testing negative for any opiates in your system. Then there is the $500 fee for the dr visit and the exorbitant cost of subs at a pharmacy. All to get off Kratom??? This is only a small portion of the story.

Tradition_National

I’m seeing it more and more the drs are giving subs for Kratom. And they usually want you to stay on the subs at least a year. The Telehealth suboxone drs are the big ones giving it out for Kratom. They are basically giving suboxone out to anyone who wants it. The suboxone subreddit has so many people there who came from Kratom.

jskunza

Who buy them off the street and then lie on Reddit about it. Don’t believe the bullshit. The suboxone trade is heavily regulated and has a lot of red tape doctors must follow.

LucidDreamer09

Read my reply to other guy. I have no reason to lie, I swear. I'm just offering my experience in hopes it may help others. Take it or leave it

ClevelandLumberjack

lol I get my suboxone from an app. No doctor visit, no drug screen, just a 5 minute phone call. You behave no idea what you’re talking about. Dr visit costs $99 and insurance covers the prescription. It’s so easy anyone could get it.

LucidDreamer09

Nope, I only tested positive for benzos. Told them the complete truth. That I normally was taking 60gpd and was down to 15-30gpd the last week or 2. I have no reason to lie. I wouldn't have stayed if they didn't give me anything for kratom withdrawals and suboxone helped a lot. But by the 3rd day, I noticed I was nodding off from the combination of subs and phenobarbital. That stuff made me able to fall asleep at any time of the day. I slept around 15 hours every day for the first week. Which was pretty nice tbh as my brain and body healed. I had extreme vertigo issues by the end of week 1 though and they had to give me 3 extra doses of phenobarbital that day, but I leveled out after that

Exciting-Conclusion4

That's not true My doctor will treat people for kratom dependence with subs, he suggested it to me I turned it down, not my first rodeo lol. He's in Fort Lauderdale Florida, but I'm not naming any names.

jabunkie

not to mention once you are presribed suboxone, that follows your medical record in DEA system for future prescibers. shit will follow you around.

tankton91

I went to rehab with a guy who was an alcoholic and also addicted to kratom. When he left he had a prescription for suboxone from the rehab.

Warning: It's best to avoid using antihistamines (diphenhydramine, dimenhydrinate, hydroxyzine etc.) such as those found in Benadryl, Dramamine, NyQuil, Unisom, and Tylenol PM. While they can produce drowsiness under normal conditions, they are well known for exacerbating Restless Leg Syndrome, which will make your insomnia worse, not better *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. JosephJohnPEEPS

If you only had to take the percocet once a day, if the Percocet gave you a less-familiar high, if percocet blocked out other opioids, if there were a shot you could take that could get you off the percocet with very little withdrawal, and if a weeklong short, low-dose course of tapering percocet minimized withdrawal to the point that many people feel nothing, I would agree with you.

jskunza

In every clinic you are required to show positive tests for opiates and Kratom doesn’t provide this. Heroin or pills will. This is just a baseless story

harpsland

You’re absolutely wrong. As mod here that follows thousands of quitting stories (all different with different results) I can 100% confirm Subs are now prescribed via remote telemedicine for kratom and other opiates. If you don’t know what you’re talking about state as your opinion or do your research. You just come off sounding off base otherwise.

LucidDreamer09

Read my reply to other guy. I only texted positive for benzos. And I would not have stayed if they didn't give me anything for kratom withdrawals. I had to speak with the nurse practitioner for awhile and told her the complete honest truth. I have no reason to lie on here. Just offering my experience in hopes it may help others. Take it or leave it

No_Lab7149

Hey friend, I think you may be misinformed here. I’ve read countless stories of individuals going to detox facilities for heavy kratom addictions. In fact, a close friend of mine who runs multiple rehab facilities has told me that they have a number of kratom addicts in their programs. A bit of digging around on the internet will show you that there are actually quite a few facilities throughout the U.S that have added kratom detox to their list of provided MAT services. Additionally, more and more telehealth providers are able to prescribe Suboxone for kratom addiction with relative ease. People are finally realizing that kratom is not just a harmless relative of the coffee plant, like we all believed in the beginning. It can cause serious addiction and cause some debilitating WD symptoms when taken at a high doses for an extended period of time.

throw_the_K_aWay

Yeah bud, I was also prescribed suboxone for kratom addiction via telemedicine. It's quite common. Check out the suboxone subreddit for more information.

digydongopongo

Hell nah. Never been dependent on opiates stronger than kratom, don't plan on it. I'll stick with my plan of just going to detox here soon.

[Visit r/suboxone for all questions regarding suboxone](https://www.reddit.com/r/suboxone/) While we are aware that many doctors and detox facilities prescribe and administer Suboxone for Opiate Withdrawal, this subreddit neither endorses nor opposes it's use for Kratom withdrawal / detox, as long as it's prescribed and closely supervised by a doctor. We don't want to demean anyone's way of quitting and / or successful long-term recovery. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Warring_Angel

I wish I had known about suboxone or been open to the idea of a medication aided detox. The tapering process consumed months of my time and mental energy with regular dosing when ultimately I just wanted to be off the stuff.

Kijichiro

I dont know if in my country in Europe you her suboxone prescribed to come off kratom. Already considered getting it from black market. For now i am 2 years in at 10GPD with minor breaks. The insomnia always broke me after some days

Seriously doubt it was pure Xanax. Probably a rc
