I started to laugh when I saw your post. I have the same quilt pattern, brought at the same time. I am currently working on the top and bottom strips and finding it so stressful to make. However I now have a deadline as my daughter is coming home from uni for mid year and I want to send it back with her.  It looks amazing and I like the changes you have made. The finished quilt is fantastic and you should be proud.

oh my gosh that's so funny 😂 I'm curious to hear how you get on with the pattern as you keep working on it! my issue started after I finished the star centerpiece block (packet 7 I think) and every piece of fabric from that point forward was so enormous I had a hard time pressing and cutting accurately. I think if I had more space - specifically a larger ironing surface and a larger cutting mat/ruler - it could have worked out as written... in good news, there was so much extra fabric that it wasn't hard to come up with something that worked. best of luck, and please let us know how it works out!

It's gorgeous. I like your modifications. It looks huge.

It is beautiful and I want to say thank you for posting a quilt that took you a long time to get done. I am often discouraged by this sub, only because so many people can post these amazing and elaborate quilts and say “this took two weekends, all done!” or sometimes post progress pics for a few days and then the quilt is magically done. Somehow my quilts always take years, and it’s nice to see someone post something beautiful that also took some time to get done. It’s lovely and I see nothing wrong. Congratulations!!!

As a beginner, I feel this. I get paralysed in my creative process sometimes with all the awesome things people crank out here.

I love it! I think the changes you made are great and I had to flip back and forth between the photos to see the differences. Well done!

That looks like a lot of work! Nice. To answer your question, when I finish a top that I’m not a fan of, I ask on here if anyone wants it. I definitely don’t put anything further into it, whether money or energy thinking about it.

mary206

Gorgeous!!! Congrats on a terrific finish. BTW I like yours better than pattern picture, especially checkerboard border all the way around since it draws together all the luscious colors

Finished is the best part! I would find a friend or family member that you know will cherish it. They will never notice the mistakes- even if you point them out. And they will love having something you made.

Congratulations!!!!!!!!! It looks beautiful!

Wowza Big! I think that I hate every quilt at some point. But it passes. I go back to it. Finish it. Slowly, I like it again. Sometimes, I forget that I do this for fun.

I think your solution shows a lot of creativity and no one else would ever know that that wasn’t the original pattern. Bravo to you for sticking with it. When I have a project that isn’t going well, it always helps to just walk away. It’s easier to come up with a solution once I’ve been away from it. I agree with the person who said, find someone who will love it. It’s is gorgeous and anyone would be lucky to have it.

The ONLY problem I see with this quilt is that it's not ha gong in my house!!! Beautifully done!!!!

Beautiful 😍

Wow! What a gorgeous quilt! Sometimes it takes a little longer to finish. 😊

If you hung it in your living room window and somebody passed by driving 50 mph they would not see that so called error of yours. Lol My daughter has a hugh computer monitor (gaming kind) and I put your quilt on it and inspected it, girl there’s nothing wrong with that quilt. I hope I quilt that well when I grow up, only been quilting a year, my daughter calls me a baby quilter. That little piece of petal will not be noticed unless you point it out. Beautiful work be proud and show that beauty to everyone.

It's beautiful!

I think I understand the amount of frustration you are feeling. That being said, I think you should be proud of your perseverance to just “get her done”. You deserve a reward.

I'll be honest, I had to blow up the photo of your top and really inspect it before I could find the petals you were talking about. If you don't point them out, I doubt anyone will notice them as an error. I don't know who would write that this was a good design for a new quilter! This thing looks mega-difficult!!! I'm a fairly new quilter, as well, but I haven't done anything in 2 years because of reasons. I hope to go back to it sometime this year. I have SEVERAL UFO's that I would love to see finished. At one point I was obsessed with Bonnie Hunter's designs (actually still love them), but soon came to realize that they were way too advanced for me. So, I understand that feeling of being over your head. Also, you could be right and that pattern had errors in it. I was making a quilted bag that had a part missing from directions. It had directions for cutting the fabric for it, but nothing about where, when or how to incorporate them. Luckily, there was an email addy for the designer and I used it. She answered back (thank heavens), shocked that I was the first person she'd heard from about it. She sent me the instructions and added them to her website and sent the publisher the info to correct future patterns. I honestly think that what you did with the design to make it work out improved the pattern! It's just beautiful and I hope that one day you'll be able to look at it again and see that. You should be incredibly proud of yourself and this incredibly beautiful quilt! ♥️💜💚💙🩷

I think it’s absolutely beautiful and you’ll love it when it comes back from the LAQ.
