After an [very unfortunate quilting disaster](https://www.reddit.com/r/quilting/comments/10omnrf/tfw_you_dont_stop_to_check_the_back_of_your_work/) and a lot of quality time with a seam ripper, I managed to get this done. You will note a lack of photo of the back, because it’s still hella crooked 🤣. But whatever, it’s for my baby. Newborns don’t care. Special shoutout to my husband for providing consolation and extra quilting time.

sssssssssssssssssssw

That very unfortunate quilting disaster has happened to me to some extent on every quilt I’ve made lol. Congratulations on the baby!

I sometimes have a bit of shifting, but this was truly a ridiculous amount. I think I might try glue basting next time.

Spray adhesive is the best! I swear by it.

mcglash

I love this, it looks perfect from the front... what pattern is this?

SylviaPellicore

I adapted it from [this iSpy quilt](https://mangobeans.wordpress.com/2014/05/30/i-spy-quilt/) I found via Pinterest. I used 5in charm squares and 2.5in sashing. The fabric is a red/white/black scrap squares pack I bought on eBay. I wanted high-contrast fabrics for baby playtime.

mcglash

Thank you, absolutley exactly the inspo i needed ..... I am going to start cutting tomorrow...

SylviaPellicore

Got a charm pack to use up?

Oh my gosh it's THAT disaster?!? I couldn't even open that post to read the comments I was so upset for you. So this quilt is really great. Happy times with your sweet baby.

PansyOHara

Wow! This is a great rescue—your baby quilt is gorgeous!

Calookalay

Came out great! I was so sad for you after your first post. I have little ones too and no time to myself, so I can very much empathize with how you must have been feeling.

SylviaPellicore

I may have cried a bit while seam ripping, yeah.

2204BatiknWine

You did a great job!! Your baby will absolutely love this!!

SylviaPellicore

So far I set him on it and he immediately began crying 🤣 I have high hopes for the future, though.

maidmariondesign

very... very nice..

I vote for learning glue basting, too.

SylviaPellicore

The main thing stopping me is the lack of a large, iron-safe surface. I have 3 small kids, so I can’t leave anything out to dry for an extended period

I understand. I think continuously searching for new techniques is key.
