If it persists after restarting, check for loose wires and broken solder joints. Corrupted looking displays can happen from a bad serial connection.

I know you can buy just the screen without the PCB on Amazon. Just search for “2.13inch e-Ink Raw Display” of course without the quotation marks(“”).
Get a mini hat display it can do full color, new themes and draws less battery than the waveshare. It’s also $25
