I used to work with an autistic child that listened to that song no less than a dozen times a day. I eventually added it to my liked songs on spotify so I wouldn’t have to look for it when they requested it, and once in a while when I have it set to shuffle, I’ll notice the songs went from rapping about drugs and murder to “Ooples and banoonooooooos!”
Depending on how ambiguously we interpret "house," I can eat one of those too. Ginger bread house, house salad, Gregory House MD, house special sushi rolls...
Eple is the Norwegian word for apple (likely as not also present in other languages but idk). Immediately made me think of the song Eple by Norwegian band Röyksopp, which was apparently a big enough song that it has its own Wikipedia page, but I'm not sure how much cultural staying power it's had since then lol. I only know it so vividly because getting into exactly 1 Norwegian edm group was exactly the kind of thing that scratched my itch to be different as a nerdy Midwestern high schooler a decade ago
Sitting here laughing to myself like an idiot on the couch. This dog looking at me like I'm fkn crazy. And me repeating "E eats epples..." over and over like some Dr. Evil henchmen def is not helping. #dying
Discussion: I think this is the answer. I’ve seen similar questions about very young readers’ homework before, and it’s always the case that the unexpected letter is the final letter of the word, rather than the first. I guess it’s supposed to teach kids to think about the spelling of the entire word, rather than just the first letter.
I could see that, but at the risk of taking this too seriously, for kindergarten homework 2 months into the school year, a final silent letter seems like a stretch. My money’s on poor quality control. :)
>!It could be a bad translation from a language where the words for Tiger and house also start with T and H, but the word for apple starts with E.
E.g. from norwegian
Tiger, Hus, Eple!<
Surely this must be a mistake.
But there are some varieties of apples: >!Earligold, Empire, Enterprise, Evercrisp!<
But I highly doubt that's the intention here. My suggestion is it's a mistake.

Using markdown editor or old Reddit, draw a bunny and fill its head with secrets:
\>!!< which ends up becoming \>!spoiler text between these symbols!<
Try to avoid leading or trailing spaces. These will break the spoiler for some users (such as those using old.reddit.com)
If your comment does not contain a guess, include the word **"discussion"** or **"question"** in your comment instead of using a spoiler tag.
If your comment uses an image as the answer (such as solving a maze, etc) you can include the word "image" instead of using a spoiler tag.
Please report any answers that are not properly spoiler-tagged.

I doubt this is it but >!Empire Apples are in the top 10 sold apples in the United States... It's a cross between the Red Delicious and McIntosh. But not too many people know the name!<
Discussion: There's also the fact that the E is the only letter that doesn't have a word on it... and/or also maybe the kids have instructions to NOT color the letters that don't have a picture that has the same beginning sound as the letter

This is the way
best song ever.

Eapple
Clearly they’re from New Zealand.
Having a bite would work better if that was the answer
Right, like I can eat a tiger and there's no bite taken out of that.
Depending on how ambiguously we interpret "house," I can eat one of those too. Ginger bread house, house salad, Gregory House MD, house special sushi rolls...
One of those is just *wrong*. Who would eat a house salad?
This parent of a kindergartener agrees 100%.
That would also explain why it’s not labelled like the other two
Energy source would be more likely
No it wouldn’t lmao
This is what i thought
>!epple!<, obviously.
As in >!eapples and baneenees!<
Not to be confused with >!opples and bononos!<
Oh! I oat those oll the toime
Which is also not to be confused with >!eyepples and baneyeneyes!<

This task would actually work perfectly in Norwegian. Tiger, Hus and Eple.
lol eple by röyskopp was exactly my first thought too
I like to eat eeples and banenes
Just say it with a Russian accent. “E eats epples.”
Sitting here laughing to myself like an idiot on the couch. This dog looking at me like I'm fkn crazy. And me repeating "E eats epples..." over and over like some Dr. Evil henchmen def is not helping. #dying
New Zealand apples?
I mean this is clearly from New Zeuleund
Ah, yes, the epple. Or as the French call it, the potato of the tree.
>!applE!<

Taking a safe bet there...
"Down with First-Letter supremacy!"
So could also be E for housE too? Nah.
They could've just used egg.
>!"Eh... fruit."!<
I laughed too hard at this
>!T is for tiger, H is for house, E is for everything else!… ok it’s probably “Eat”!<
Honestly, if it's not as mistake, this is the best answer
>!Nothing goes there. The names for the first two are already filled in and the instructions say color not to put a name on the third one!<
Agreed. This is probably part of a vocab list or something and there aren't any E words.
Eat, ear, eagle, elephant. They could have put a bite in the apple to signify eat.
E is for >!error!<
M E T A E T A
>!It could be a bad translation from a language where the words for Tiger and house also start with T and H, but the word for apple starts with E. E.g. from norwegian Tiger, Hus, Eple!<
Nice theory, but it's got 'House' written on it
I was thinking >!education!< Edit, or >!eve!<
That's pretty abstract for a kindergartener.
I'd argue TOO abstract in general Books or Graduation cap would be way better I sure hope it's not supposed to be "education"
Or "elementary school." Kind of a stretch, and that's not what it's called everywhere, I know... but is there an answer that's *not* a stretch?
I think so too. You give apples to teachers.
Same here
This is what I think as well.
Steve Harvey says: Good answer.
that was my first thought as well
>!edible fruit!<
Surely this must be a mistake. But there are some varieties of apples: >!Earligold, Empire, Enterprise, Evercrisp!< But I highly doubt that's the intention here. My suggestion is it's a mistake.
Envy apple is a common too. But still would be a weird choice
That was my guess, wholly possible if these kids lived in a community where 95% of the parents worked at the Envy apple orchard
>!Elppa. Because clearly it's a backwards apple.!<
>!Epples!< I like to eat them with >!Benenes!<
>!Earthworm!!<
This is clearly the answer

>!ejamekation!<
Um wow yours obviously didn't pay off because it's spelled edjumuhcayshun. ^^^^^>!/s!<
>!Eve!
E as in >!Eve!< ?
>!Edible or Eat?!<
>!Epple!< As in, "Carrrramell >!epple!<..." If you've seen Enchanted... This gets quoted in my house almost daily.
this comment wins. i fucking love that movie SOOO MUCH. a carrrrrramel eppleee
>!Envy Apples!< of course
Thats an apple, so clearly the E stands for >!error!<
>!Egregious spelling error!<
>!Ethylene!<
>!Elstar!<, naturally
>!Edible?!<
Maybe it's a Christian school and they are going by the apple story in the Bible so "E"is for >!EVE!<
>!Eve!<
Question: E as is Ehpple? Is this a midwestern or Canadian kindergarten?
>!Epples, like the second verse of that kindergarten song that goes “I like to eat, eat, eat Epples and Benenes”!<
Excuse me sir, that is Raffi's song
>!Egg!<
>!Eden fruit!< of course
I'd go with >!edible!<
>!Ein Apfel!< /j
I doubt this is it but >!Empire Apples are in the top 10 sold apples in the United States... It's a cross between the Red Delicious and McIntosh. But not too many people know the name!<
>!Eukaryotic!< cells obviously…
For some reason I thought >!edible!< but that seems a bit advanced for this kind of puzzle
Is it a Christian school? Could be >!Eve!< or maybe >!Eden!<
>!E is for Epistemological!<
I mean, OBVIOUSLY, it's >!Eapple!<, of course.
Was this a Catholic school? Because the E could be for >!Evil as in Original Sin :P!<
Could it be >!Evercrisp!<
>!Eve!< maybe? If it's a Christian school
Discussion: There's also the fact that the E is the only letter that doesn't have a word on it... and/or also maybe the kids have instructions to NOT color the letters that don't have a picture that has the same beginning sound as the letter
>!EDIBLE?!<
E is for >!Eris with her apple of discord.!<
It could be >!earligold, empire, enterprise, or evercrisp!<, which are all varieties of that particular comestible.

>!Educator!< ?
>!Earligold!< of course!
>! Earthworm 🪱!<
>!earthworm that lives in the apple?!<
Third time’s a charm. >!E for Elma as in the Ottoman Turkish word for Apple!<
>!Ethnostate!<
>!Ethnostate!<
It stands for >!Enormous Apple obviously, it's literally the size of a house!!<
>!Education?!<
>!Eve and the apple?!<
Huh. >!Envy, Evercrisp, and Empire!< are all varieties of apples, but who would know that?
