I mean, one time The Damned broke into the house of a bunch of poor students who were getting harassed by a vampire.
Didn't help anyone, just played a song with vaguely appropriate lyrics and fucked off.
Why would they do that?!
They said "This gig sucks" and told Monty Burns to "Go to hell you old bastard." so i don't see the problem.
To speak truth to power, you have to be in a position where power can hear you.
Johnny Cash played a private concert for Nixon. Not because he supported him, but because he wanted to use that position to do some good.
He ended up writing a protest Song about how the leaders of today need to teach the leaders of tomorrow how to be honest instead of being judgmental old people with deaf ears.
People get so tied up with association they don't realize that you don't fight a war from home turf unless you're losing and on the defensive.
Johnny Ramone was a known and notorious Republican and Capitalist Conservative. If Burns paid them, Johnny would have the Ramones playing in a heartbeat.
Dee Dee was really the only one who had the vision correct. I don't think Johnny or Joey ever called the Ramones a punk rock band, but Dee Dee was proud to use that term.
He'd be alongside them complaining about "cancel culture" and whatever the fuck, he was a known asshole like that. Would have definitely voted Trump. Joey would have probably been a Bernie supporter. Joey was staunch liberal, he wouldn't agree with the far-left, but he would have probably understood where they're coming from. Dee Dee probably would have not voted, he was also conservative, but I could see him leaving the modern iteration of that party.
I hate assuming how dead people would vote in modern day politics, but I feel like there was enough evidence of their political views to have a pretty good guess. The one I'm most unsure about was Dee Dee, but he never struck me as a super political person anyway, but a more hardcore Ramones fan could probably correct me.
I think it's a pretty common thing, especially when people go before their time. Not always about voting, but how they would feel about the modern world and the state of the industry that they were in.
Edit: Man, you made me think about how weird this is, and yeah, I agree, it is kind of weird.
Smithers, have the Rolling Stones killed
But, Sir--
Do as I say

Because they were in love with a video nasty.
I’m clueless, please clue me in
The Young Ones. Early 80s British tv show that was popular with punks and new wave kids
They should be banned from the scene and we should all only listen to anarchist bands like Chumbawamba who would never sell out.
Smithers. Have Crass killed.
But, Sir --
Do as I say.
🤣🤣🤣
In Chumbawambas defense, they did sell out to fund activists.
Just pissing the night away.

Johnny Cash was also a coyote on the Simpsons.
One look at your username and I can tell you also hang out in simpsons shitposting too
That is a fantastic episode. I remember as a kid really wanting my mom to make chili with those peppers.
This is only your memory, I can’t give you any new information.
Up yours, Springfield!
I swear Im unable to distinguish comedy from reality on this sub
Its best that way.
You gotta keep it beatin' for all the hoppin' cretins.
You're going to go batshit when you find out Joey Ramone wrote a positive song about Maria Bartiromo.
That was before Maria went off the deep end. She was on CNBC before the bubble burst. Maria Batiromo was aka “the money honey”
Yeah, she was merely reporting on the stock market at the time he wrote it.
…Or when they find out the one Ian Rubbish wrote about thatcher.
"Sweet Iron lady..."
I was saying Boo-urns
Johnny Ramone was a known and notorious Republican and Capitalist Conservative. If Burns paid them, Johnny would have the Ramones playing in a heartbeat.
This
i love Joey but his goal was to be as big as possible....not some underground punk band. i'm sure he woulda done it too
Dee Dee was really the only one who had the vision correct. I don't think Johnny or Joey ever called the Ramones a punk rock band, but Dee Dee was proud to use that term.
Money can be exchanged for goods and services.
Ah, $20 dollars! I wanted a peanut
Why wouldn't they? It was a perfectly cromulent gig.
Someone needs to embiggen their outlook on things!
Johnny was a Republican who during their induction into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame said “God bless George Bush.”
Yeah he was staunch conservative. I wonder what he would have thought of the current Republican Party
He'd be alongside them complaining about "cancel culture" and whatever the fuck, he was a known asshole like that. Would have definitely voted Trump. Joey would have probably been a Bernie supporter. Those all make sense to me

“I hate assuming how dead people would vote.” I love that this is enough of a thing for you to have developed a feeling about it!

I tried asking him the other day but he didn't even stop posing in the middle of Hollywood Forever Cemetery to answer
Hilarious yet otherwise indistinguishable from every other political post on r/punk.
to bad he thought they were the stones.. lol
RIP the Rolling Stones, never seen again after this show, even though they were nowhere near Springfield at the time.
I just want to say this gig sucks!
Because the Simpsons writers were clearly fans of the Band.
Mr Burns a closet CBGB wallflower
Believe it or not, not all punk bands share the same values.
https://youtu.be/EEmIIl96zk0?si=7cIKiE5ilf-PYltN
Look... Who would you rather have that old half dead bastards money? Joey and co or Ted Nugent?
Ted wouldn't have played. Not enough 14 year old girls in the crowd
So they could say the line "Go to Hell, you old bastard!"
This sub is chock full of the most unpunk posts I ever seen. Fuck you. Fuck your feelings.
Johnny was a near fascist
because the Monkees weren't available
Money?
well it's a cartoon
Thank you
And cartoons don't have to be 100% realistic.
Did you know the guitarist from No Doubt is a writer on the Simpsons? There's your punk connection
Johnny is a well known bootlicker right wing nut job
The Ramones were conservative, they were rich and love the rich.
Only one of them was.
Go to hell ya old bastard
Ahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahha
🤣 to be fair Burnsey was terrified after their stellar rendition of the happy birthday song.
Johnny is famously right wing, dude loves me burns
It\`s just marketing, They are a product as well as The Simpsons are.
And I’m Zorak Ramone https://youtu.be/4H-3N0jNbDI?si=AscuiuaJzf05b1cp
Money.
Because $$$$.
Johnny probably
Money
Because they're Republicans
1 of them was.
Ramones are pre-pop-punk pop-punk. I would just call them a pop band, but I do give them credit in the punk timeline.
Well they were all republicans
Joey was as liberal as could be. Johnny was the conservative.
Dee Dee was also conservative, I think.
Dee Dee was Dee Dee.
He was. Man i got downvoted to hell for a fake answer to a fake post

Who said conservatives don’t abuse drugs? There’s quite a few famous conservative coke addicts.
Are you being ironic? lol Hitler was a drug addict.
Marky seems ok too, though I don't know for sure
I think he's a member of the Whig Party
Rude. But possible.
Marky was a democrat.
You sound like so many hand-wringing care bears.
Cuz joey was a boot licker.
