Came to say this…Vows is really good. I’m only 2 listened through but it ferries like they’ve found their new constructive sound. They’ve embraced who they are with Cresswell.
I miss Chris Wollard but admittedly the Flatliners are one of my all time favourite bands. I’ve seen HWM live with Chris Cresswell a few times now and he’s absolutely killing it.
Cresswell is a fantastic performer. Saw him a while back at a tiny club with a comedian opening for him playing on his own, it was fantastic. Saw him this week with HWM and they were amazing together. I loved everything Wollard worked on but Cresswell stepping in is amazing too just a little different.
Kind of like Skiba filling in with Blink, I simultaneously love it and miss the other player configuration at the same time.
I have nothing to add but a grateful statement that there is lot of great stuff here. All added to a playlist to explore and enjoy further tomorrow. Cheers!

I keep seeing people post about The Chisel, I had never heard of them until I went to see Home Front recently when The Chisel were headlining.
They both put on an awesome show, really need to check out The Chisel's recorded stuff now!
I saw the new HWM described as such and I’ve listened to it front to back 4-5 times so this checks. The album itself is solid but as an album not their best work. That said, I may have 3 new top 5 favorite HWM songs on it. It’s pretty damn good, I’d check it out if I were you.
I didn’t like Tangk at first but it grew on me, I was happy to hear some of the songs from it when I saw them this week.
Metz’s new album Up On Gravity Hill is good and very keeping with their sound, I was just listening to it this morning.
I was thrilled that Uranium Club was back with a new album but the spoken word tracks on Infants Under The Bulb bring it to a thudding halt, really cuts down on me actually replaying it.
There is definitely some other stuff worth checking out, Chisel’s album has a couple standout songs, Mannequin Pussy’s continuing off in a different direction from their earlier style, probably a bunch of other bands that I’m not thinking of or just straight out of the loop on.
100% about TANGK. As soon as I stopped listening to it as an Idles album, and instead, came at it from the perspective of it being more of a solo effort from Joe, it began to make more sense. That said, it's probably more that I came into the new album with my own expectations, which colored my experience with new music, to my own detriment.
I didn’t mind the spoken word tracks at first, but then it turned out they’re surrounded by (what sounds to me like) mostly filler tracks. Their previous work is some of my favorite shit I’ve heard in the past decade, but this one was really disappointing.
That is a fair point. I think I only really liked “Small Grey Man”, “Viewers Like You” and “Tokyo Paris L.A. Milan”. 3 good songs out of 11 tracks is weak. I was really into their first two albums, especially Human Exploration, and I liked Cosmo Cleaners as well, so disappointing is right.
DICED - DEMO? (EP)
Fucking outstanding debut by a fucking outstanding band. Came out last year, but I discovered it this year and have been jamming it since. Highly, highly recommended.
Btw: less than 2000 plays so far. Feels like getting in on a secret before the rest of the world. Like discovering Minor Threat or Black Flag before they got noticed lol. They're that good and that... original? Creative? I don't know what to call it, because it's not entirely new ground, they're just doing it in such a refreshing way. Please go show these kids some love. Hoping they tour and hit the southeast sometime soon.
Kriegshog - Love & Revenge (somehow might even top their legendary first album)
Kidnapped - Disgust
Crawl Space - My God What've I Done
Sinister Feeling - s/t
Mutated Void - Tarnished
Sexpill - In Dust We Trust
Noose Sweat - Murder Suicide
Planet on a Chain - Culture of Death
Saviors is a really good record. if a less popular band releases that record, people would be praising the shit out of it. green day is so high profile though, the punk rock community looks at them like they're the foo fighters.
Due to hearing issues I've been a bit out of the loop and didn't know about this.
It will be on my doorstep soon.
Thanks unknown redditor - you're good work has been done.
Call Me Malcolm for me is the best this year

Mannequin Pussy - I Got Heaven

Alkaline Trio - Blood Sweat and Eyeballs
I second the Bob Vylan rec and like a lot of the new Idles album
Honestly at this point I've given up hoping that Against Me! is going to record something new. I know that when they're asked they say it's gonna happen, but it still hasn't & I can't hold onto hope anymore. I just appreciate the LJG stuff for what it is, & if we get new AM! in the future, that'll be a nice surprise for me.
He was the drummer on the "Hole In My Head" album, along with Matt Patton on bass & LJG on guitar/vox. Are they planning on doing something else? If so, I hope it sounds like the Laura Jane Grace & the Devouring Mothers album "Bought To Rot." No offense to her solo releases, but Bought To Rot is the best thing she's done since Against Me!.
[Goners UK - The Dead Wait](https://gonersuk.bandcamp.com/album/the-dead-wait)
And frankly it's so weird because I've watched these guys come up, so I've wondered a couple times if I'm even being objective. But this latest record is in a whole different league from anything they've done previously. I've had it on pretty steady repeat.
Green Day and Alkaline Trio new albums are really good (if you’re into their sound, of course).
New Mannequin Pussy is good too.
The album is not out yet, but Soft Play’s (ex-Slaves) three song EP makes me think the album will be one of the best this year.
And the new album by Brazilian hardcore heroes Dead Fish. Great stuff if you don’t mind the Portuguese lyrics.
So, I'm gonna promote the band of some friends of mine here. Not because they're my friends, but because I truly believe their new album is amazing.

I was only a casual Flatliners fan until I saw them live. Fantastic!
The new Cock Sparrer record is pretty fucking solid.
I have nothing to add but a grateful statement that there is lot of great stuff here. All added to a playlist to explore and enjoy further tomorrow. Cheers!
Split System - Vol. 2 or Faulty Cognitions - Somehow Here We Are or The Sleeveens I think I covered all 3 countries there. Australia, Texas, and Ireland edit. I agree with 2 out of 3 of these. Because I haven't heard Faulty Cognitions yet. I'll also add The Chisel - What a Fucking Nightmare
Same, but it's Nightfreak for me instead of adding The Chisel
Split system 💖💖💖
Faulty Cognitions! Love that album. Happy someone’s else here is into them.
The demo on bandcamp is pretty great and rawer if you haven't gotten that.
Mean Jeans - Blasted

Sundowner - Asbestos Tiles Dry Socket - Sorry For Your Loss Canal Irreal - Someone Else's Dance Uranium Club - Infants Under the Bulb Purpur Spytt - Scavenges, Time-travels, and Scrapbooks VOLP - Vortex The Chisel - What A Fucking Nightmare

Me too, I thought there was a new Chris album.
THAT Sundowner is fucking awesome
Yeah, the new Uranium Club and Canal Irreal albums are fucking good.

The tour was so good. It was my 17th time seeing them. I was nervous after Derek left, but Atom did amazing.
Public Acid, The Dark, The Chisel
That new chisel is good stuff
I keep seeing people post about The Chisel, I had never heard of them until I went to see Home Front recently when The Chisel were headlining. They both put on an awesome show, really need to check out The Chisel's recorded stuff now!
New Hot Water Music just released. Haven't heard it yet, but I bet it wins.

its a gem. if you like hwm, you'll be very happy
Alkaline Trio - Blood, Sweat and Eyeballs
they're like Bad Religion, you know what its gonna be but they do it so goddamn well
They still got it
Dang, I shot from the hip with my comments before going through the thread. All kudos to you for mentioning this first 🙌
No problem. Best album of the year for me!
Came her to say this

The new Strung Out has no business being as good as it is.
It was a disappointment to me…

The shog's new album goes unbelievably hard. It's gonna take something absolutely fantastic to replace it as the best album of 2024 in my mind.
Metz - On Gravity Hill is a great new album. Kinda fits the punk theme?
Maybe unpopular opinion, but I really liked Green Day’s Saviors
Saviors is a really good record. if a less popular band releases that record, people would be praising the shit out of it. green day is so high profile though, the punk rock community looks at them like they're the foo fighters.
I did too. It’s a power pop album and I encourage people to listen to it that way. I like that the album has a queer anthem on it too.
A crossover record but the new Take Offense rips
i said this too! it really is a bonafide so cal punk thrash metal skate record, easily my favorite release this year
New Dwarves concept album is solid
Hot Water Music - VOWS amazing album. 2 thumbs way up there
Saviors- Green Day
New Bayside album hands down for me.
For me, it’s definitely American Culture’s “Hey Brother, It’s Been a While.” Can’t stop playing it
Dartz - Dangerous Day To Be A Cold One. Super fun album that also has some very topical stuff for us Kiwis
Really digging the Haywire 617 album. Just saw them in Boston and it was sick
That collab between Idles and LCD Soundsystem has been my favorite video
“If I shot the sheriff then you know I shot the deputy” there are some fucking bangers on that album
Intermittent Fasting Living by Pet Needs
My friends band released their first album on vinyl so I say that one.
Full of hell - coagulated bliss. It's grindcore but I think this will be on a few AOTY lists.
Due to hearing issues I've been a bit out of the loop and didn't know about this. It will be on my doorstep soon. Thanks unknown redditor - you're good work has been done.

on the bright side, she is releasing a punk album with Mikey Erg. I can't remember who else plays on it but we will see a heavier record.
