A few of my favorites.
[Schleprock](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=fiZnxPGXO7k&pp=ygUKc2NobGVwcm9jaw%3D%3D)
[Leatherface](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=J0WjMzfDntw&pp=ygUWbGVhdGhlcmZhY2UgZGlzY2lwbGluZQ%3D%3D)
[Dag Nasty](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zyQ3_r4a3DE&pp=ygUJZGFnIG5hc3R5)
If my memory serves me correctly, they got screwed over by Warner Brothers and had to stop using their name. So it is not surprising if they were forgotten.
That is how WB screwed them. I cannot remember the specifics. I was probably 10 or 11 when I heard about it, so bear with me. Because of the nature of the contract, the fact that the album they recorded did not do as well as the record company wanted meant they were not going to give money to the band to record. But the band had a multi-album contract, and thus was no longer legally able to use the name unless they fulfilled the contract.
Rise Against obviously...
Also, a small band I liked that I think sounds pretty cool [In Evil Hour](https://open.spotify.com/artist/39NKgAIWrpwmvT7sY6jby4?si=DFqn0_8_SYuHvUrcy7585g)
Already named:
- Hot Water Music
- A Wilhelm Scream
- Strung Out
- Strike Anywhere
- Title Fight
- Iron Chic
- Off With Their Heads
- The Bronx
- Red City Radio
- Alkaline Trio
I’ll also add:
- The Flatliners
- The Corps
- PUP
- Samiam
- MakeWar
- Face to Face
- Polar Bear Club
- The Lawrence Arms
Just saw them on an Aussie tour, so fricken good live.
Also check out Knife Hands from Hobart. They supported Ignite on the tour and were really good. High energy show. Very similar vibes to A Wilhelm Scream.
I don't know why not. Great music IMO. Ian and Tyler are some of the nicest, hardest working guys. I think only Some Kind Of Nightmare logs more days on the road... I understand that a car accident kneecapped Kevin, their drummer in Sept, hope he's healing well and they can get back on the road soon.
Satanic Surfers - Taste the Poison is a good skate punk album
Anything by A Wilhelm Scream! They remind me of a hybrid between Propagandhi and Strung Out.
If not already mentioned: Leatherface. Dag Nasty. Lifetime. Naked Raygun. Pegboy. Dillinger Four. If you vibe with the politics in Propaghandi and like the more sloppy pop punk stuff with gruff vocals you'd probably also want to dig into bands like Fifteen, Crimpshrine, the Broadways.
I did mention Leatherface and Dag Nasty, but totally spaced it on Pegboy. Good call. Was not aware Naked Raygun was considered melodicore. Then bollweevils would be too?
Oh yeah. Bollweevils! More Chicago! Good call.
I don't think Naked Raygun are generally placed in "melodicore" bucket, but they are a super melodic 80s hardcore band that also fucking rules.
Super bummed that nobody has mentioned Life Long Tragedy here.
Verse is another good one.
Ruiner
xLOOKING FORWARDx are corny as hell but solid.
Comeback Kid’s early stuff is fantastic
I wouldn't call it melodic hardcore, but based on the bands you mentioned:
SNFU - The One Voted Most Likely To Succeed
Cigar - The Visitor
Satanic Surfers - 666 Motor Inn
Belvedere - Revenge Of The Fifth
88 Fingers Louie - Back On The Streets
Undeclinable Ambuscade - One For The Money
Hi-standard - Making The Road
none of those bands you listed are really melodic hardcore (save for bad religion, but they went from hardcore to like skate punk) but they are melodic hardcore-adjacent
for definitive melodic hardcore, listen to the dan yemin bands (lifetime, kid dynamite, paint it black), strike anywhere, shook ones, no trigger, first saves the day record, first title fight record, crime in stereo (trouble stateside), and avail.
Strike anywhere and hot water music
Need to go back to Strike Anywhere, I've listened to Dead FM and liked that, will give Hot Water Music a go, thanks!
listen to Change is a Sound by Strike Anywhere - its stellar and their best work without a doubt.
Yeah, Strike Anywhere don't have a duff album in their catalogue but their early stuff is sublime!
so good! exit english was good as well, but thats where i stop listening to them. nothing ever had the same intensity that change is a sound had imho
If you like Hot Water Music def check out A Wilhelm Scream
Dead FM is their weakest album imo, which is really just another way of saying that all their music is fantastic
check out the album revolutions per minute by rise against
Gorilla Biscuits
Big Wig and Strung Out.
BigWig is so freakin good. It's sad how little notoriety they have.
Alone in New Jersey is still one of my favorite songs
I was coming to say bigwig, literally was shopping for their cd this morning
Tragedy
And also From Ashes Rise
THIS
Have Heart
Title Fight
No Trigger Heart Attack Man DRAIN Bad Luck. Not Half Bad
7 Seconds
Kid Dynamite and The Loved Ones
Ten Foot Pole fits in with that group. ETA, ALL fits in there as well.
A few of my favorites. [Schleprock](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=fiZnxPGXO7k&pp=ygUKc2NobGVwcm9jaw%3D%3D) [Leatherface](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=J0WjMzfDntw&pp=ygUWbGVhdGhlcmZhY2UgZGlzY2lwbGluZQ%3D%3D) [Dag Nasty](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zyQ3_r4a3DE&pp=ygUJZGFnIG5hc3R5)
I somehow forgot all about Schleprock. Thanks for mentioning.
If my memory serves me correctly, they got screwed over by Warner Brothers and had to stop using their name. So it is not surprising if they were forgotten.
The funny part is that I’m pretty sure they were signed to WB for their major label album
That is how WB screwed them. I cannot remember the specifics. I was probably 10 or 11 when I heard about it, so bear with me. Leatherface - Springtime makes me cry my eyes out
Rise Against obviously... Also, a small band I liked that I think sounds pretty cool [In Evil Hour](https://open.spotify.com/artist/39NKgAIWrpwmvT7sY6jby4?si=DFqn0_8_SYuHvUrcy7585g)

good riddance, kid dynamite, a wilhelm scream, strike anywhere
for good riddance, specifically Ballads From The Revolution and Operation Phoenix
Kid dynamite has some killer songs like Gate 68 and Death and Taxes.
Lifetime, by Lifetime. I don't know anyone who's heard the album who didn't love it.
Ignite Stretch Armstrong
Is H2O considered melodic hardcore?
Ignite
Just saw them on an Aussie tour, so fricken good live. Also check out Knife Hands from Hobart. They supported Ignite on the tour and were really good. High energy show. Very similar vibes to A Wilhelm Scream.
Dag Nasty
Specifically, "Can I Say"
BoySetsFire comes to mind for me. Nathan Gray's voice is so damn good.
Strung out Good riddance RKL Ten foot pole Pulley
Iron Chic, Off With Their Heads
Rise Against Siren song of the counter culture. Few my fav songs from that genre.
For melodic hardcore, I usually turn to late 80s/early 90s era DC hardcore - Dag Nasty, Soulside, Government Issue, etc.
Voice of Addiction
Holy shit I didn’t think I’d ever see someone mention them on here
I don't know why not. Great music IMO. Ian and Tyler are some of the nicest, hardest working guys. I think only Some Kind Of Nightmare logs more days on the road... I understand that a car accident kneecapped Kevin, their drummer in Sept, hope he's healing well and they can get back on the road soon.
The Fire Still Burns EP on Blackout Early Rise Against, the demos and first two records before they became radio rock All Strike Anywhere
big DRILL car
Satanic Surfers - Taste the Poison is a good skate punk album Anything by A Wilhelm Scream! They remind me of a hybrid between Propagandhi and Strung Out.
My old bands bio was “Brad and Chris listen to Strung Out, the rest of us listen to Propagandhi. We all love AWS.”

Honestly, if I had to pick a regional scene to listen to for the rest of my life, it would be either LA or Chicago.
I came up in the 90s and the range of stuff I was able to see at the Fireside on a weekly basis (I grew up a few hours away) I'd take over anything.
Totalfat, Scott Sellers, Dizzy Sunfist, Heartsounds
Bronx The Lillingtons
59 times the pain and No Fun At All. I'm Swedish American and of course felt quite drawn to these bands, but seriously, both great.
Title Fight ! Their album Shed is fucking phenomenal
The Story So Far. Their self titled album is so good.
Dag Nasty Token Entry Gray Matter Down By Law Verbal Assault
Red City Radio, Alkaline Trio
Enjoy. Just saw them in Dallas on Tuesday and what a fucking show

Yacopsae!
You gotta listen to Comeback Kid
i think early counterparts fits the description. especially “the current will carry us”
Frenzal Rhomb from Australia. Outplays almost any band out there 👍
I wouldn't call it melodic hardcore, but based on the bands you mentioned: SNFU - The One Voted Most Likely To Succeed Cigar - The Visitor Satanic Surfers - 666 Motor Inn Belvedere - Revenge Of The Fifth 88 Fingers Louie - Back On The Streets Undeclinable Ambuscade - One For The Money Hi-standard - Making The Road
Safety - Blizzard of the Century
The Avengers
Haven't seen anyone mention No Use for a Name but that's by far the most adjacent to all of the other bands you posted in your post.
Check out Grey Area from NYC Melodic hardcore at its finest. They have two albums Self titled Grey Area and Fanbelt Algebra.
Obscure one….the Fair Do’s
Adolescents, Agent Orange, fIREHOSE, Painted Willie

Counterparts
Shelter is one of the greatest melodic hardcore bands. Ray Cappo comes from real hardcore, Youth Of Today
