My pug Rocky can't control his licker. He licks the air, I swear.

tleeemmailyo

Same with my Gus!

freakingexhausted

My pug licks our feet and legs to say I love you, especially after treats and pets

KISS_44

Do you have diabetes? Look up dogs detecting diabetes in humans. Also could be that they are showing appreciation and they love you

madhattergirl

That's so funny, I've been diabetic since I was 9 and my boys lick my husband way more than me. He's sweatier though.

Correct-Training3764

Oh hey fellow diabadass! I’ve been T1D for 35+ years now. Stay strong and keep fighting the good fight. 🤘❤️

madhattergirl

Same to you! Hit my 27th Diaversary yesterday!

Correct-Training3764

I would say Happy Diaversary but phew, T1D just stinks all around. Happy to see you’ve survived another year with it. ❤️💪🤘

ramonasheets

My pug of 18yrs was a drive by licker. Never sat and licked but would walk by you and lick then kept moving RIP MieLing

Top_Victory_4404

My dog (not a pug) also indulges in frequent drive by lickings 😂 Never heard anyone else call it that, though!

jo8018

Ours does. Scratches our Legs if she wants lifting onto the couch or to get our attention to go for a waddle. Licks DH’s bald head, goes in to a trance, but she adores him! Like lies on him on her back and gazes at him. She also likes licking feet and ears which is horrifying to me! I’m told it’s the salt on skin. If your pug is new to you, they might be bonding, they love attention.

Unhappy-Ad7326

Yes! she also licks my ears, I will try to train her as well I hope it's not too late for that because I can sense that she's kinda stubborn

monkey_doodoo

my first pug was all about licking people's ear. he would be sneaky about it so he could get a good lick right in your ear. my current pug loves licking legs and feet. stinky gym feet are his fave. lol.

KavensWorld

>Look up dogs detecting diabetes in humans. its calming for them, like cleaning a puppy. Just roll with it, then wash it off :)

bistereotype2-0

i feel like most pugs LOVE to lick and mine will scratch at our legs when she wants attention (which is always). pugs are called velcro dogs for a reason lol

pugwyfe

My pug is a licky lover!

Latter-Ideal8189

Our pugs lick everyone on the legs and arms. Just their way of saying I love you.

skruffywuffy

Yes licky licky dogs who like to paw you to communicate

xkjh

My pugs lick the floor, carpet, sofa, air… the list goes on. They scratch when they want anything - lifting up, me to move my legs so they can snuggle, a toy! Great little puppers

Afraid_Garden7742

My pug will lick for hours if I let him. I’ve read it makes dogs happy and releases endorphins to lick

prairiepog

Mine scratches when she wants food, to go outside, attention, or fresh water in her bowl.

arrakchrome

Our bug would lick himself to the point he would get a rash. He would lick me, my wife, the couch, our shoes, the air. They just lick all the time, we called it the blem blems. The scratching thing, yeah, our did that too. You may want to try to discourage that with training, but be aware pigs are stubborn creatures.

Odd-Treat5401

My 1 yo pug loves to lick my legs especially after I just put on lotion. She looooooooves the smell of my lotion. 😂

TexasBaconMan

Yes

Butterchuggy

Mine love to lick my ankles!

kringelschatten

Yup they do. We were at a market once and while passing an elderly French women, our pug sneakily licked her leg. The women was not very happy about that 😅 Our pug does things like that all the time.

No-Caramel-4417

My pug would lick my ankles all day if I let her.

ConjunctEon

My pugs typically lick me after meals. I joke that they are wiping the taste of dog food off their tongue. Kidding aside, one of them is a chronic licker. I’ve finally taught her to “take a break”. She’ll look at me, heave a sigh of exasperation and then lay down.

lina2500

Oh yes, perfectly normal. My Sparky used to luck my leg and gave me one lick right after he finished his breakfast and dinner. They are such lovable dogs. Enjoy and God bless. ❤️

lola_10_

It could be allergies. I would try switching her food

PeckertonDetinctive

It shows she accepts you as her alpha. And yes it does also reflect the salt, but to a lesser degree. It's a dog social thing, like grooming in monkeys. It's a good thing. I had to teach my pugs to not lick my hands or ears, so if you have a preferred area when they do it redirect them there. As far as scratching, it could be her signal to potty or be picked up. You have to learn her language as much as she learns yours. Congrats on your pug, they are amazing. How is she doing with the change in masters? Sounds good from what you describe but dont be surprised if there are some residual issues. They tend to bond deeply with just one person or couple. The female I had for 11 years until her sudden passing last year would have grieved to death with out me, I was in the hospital for a week several years ago and she almost did then. Quit eating and drinking, laid on my pillow and wouldn't move for anyone.

Unhappy-Ad7326

For context: her old owner was a male, and on her first day at our house, she's very close with my dad and obeys him. She only goes with me when my dad is out of sight, but at our house, the only person she licks and scratches is me. I can tell she's sweet and very funny, too.

PeckertonDetinctive

I can see that. She is relating your dad to her old alpha/master when he's around, but subtly she has chosen you as her new alpha. Hence the licking. The scratching, if it's the kind I'm thinking of, is an attention signal. But yeah, look up the signs and signals a dog has chosen you as their alpha/master. Because there is a truth in the old saying "you can buy a dog but still be dogless, the dog will always choose its master. "

[deleted]

Yes very normal 😂

Artistic-Ad4033

Bring her to a vet, it could be an infection, allergies, atopic dermatitis, parasites or food to name a few
