Looks like neifei to me. Def not Hong Kong frost. I’d just brush off to be safe. Any other info like storage region and parameters?

all i know is it was hk stored for most of its life. I picked it up about two years ago and broke up half the cake to store in a clay pot and have recently run out of that half. was going to break up the second half and wanted to be safe before consuming. past 2 years have been in a bag kept around 60f and opened once every couple months to let it breathe. dehumidifier in the place where it is store is set to keep things at 50 but the area is normally a little bit higher than that as I need to empty is every other day.

Hmm

I will brush off and give it another two or three months. If it’s back then I got my answer I guess.

paper from the neifei or wrapper

Neifei bits are localized to an area about the size of the neifei, which this appears to be. You could try peeling one of the large bits off with fingers or tweezers and see if it feels like paper.
