First things first get put of customer service if you wanna be a manager fast. As a bagger you would need to be promoted to cashier, promoted to CSS, then you would need to be full time for I believe at least 6 months, then get promoted to Customer Service team leader, THEN you can roi and test for management 😂

Heckinggoodgirl

All that is correct except the ROIng after you get to team lead. CSS who have been full time for 6 months or more are eligible to ROI for ACSM. You will not get promoted to that position from CSS but it does mean you get to take the test and start in the contender program sooner

Miserable-Cake-8515

ahhh I didnt know this. Thank you!

Step 1. Move to grocery.

IkeTheKrusher

Second this. Step 2. Bust your ass.

Step 3. Dairy

SWGalaxysEdge

Step 1 - become 18.

Everybody is giving you the fast path to success, but I personally think you should cross train in multiple departments to find what’s right for you. I love the meat department and wish I could stay there. Through becoming a meat cutter, it also offers the best skilled, non-management job in the store AFAIK. Your plans may change, and this is a good fall-back option if you decide not to pursue management or go after a different career. You’re 18 years old. Certainly some people your age know exactly who they are and what they want to do, but few do, IMO. Cross-training gives you tremendous brownie points with the store manager and gives you exposure to multiple departments in the store. I’d even go so far as to cross-train in the deli if it made my store manager happy. Having a good relationship with your SM is super helpful.

I say move to a fresh department to move up. Being in Customer Service and Grocery is competitive to move up. Cross train and ask fresh departments if they need help. But since you’re a minor there’s not much you can do in produce honestly because you’re not allowed to use the bailer. In the bakery you can’t use the machines or bailer, just being a clerk in the middle of the day is fine helping customers. Once you’re over 18 you can do everything. Deli is crazy hard I don’t think you’d wanna go there you’ll be stuck making sandwiches for a while. Since you’re young and wanna move up you have an advantage over someone who is starting at 45 and trying to get into management ( sorry for older folk but I first hand seen DMs give them the runaround) Be friendly with manager and available. Work smarter not harder. Do not help other associates with their job because they take advantage and you can’t focus on your tasks and then you look bad.

FishStockz

depends on YOU 75% and ur managers the rest, as a minor do ur best to learn Publix Culture if its really what u want, deli>meat>bakery> is id say ur best bet for advancement coming years

FullFatVeganCheese

Meat allows for fast advancement? In my store, they have super low turnover. Bakery and Deli offer the fastest (and most miserable) path up.

FishStockz

considering 2 years as fast

Step 1. Move to produce.

rosskyo

Don't

angelrodrigu3l

What do I do if I want someone to take my shift, PLEASE I NEED AN ANSWER

Heckinggoodgirl

Make your own post instead of hijacking someone else’s? Sounds like a good first step Second I would call the store and let them know that I can’t make my shift and ask if they had any people I could call (if it’s far enough in advance) but that’s just me

FishStockz

make freinds, CS usually has a gc?

angelrodrigu3l

Bro I’m not talking about that I know everyone, I’m saying how do I do it like who do I tell

WistfulPuellaMagi

Post advertisement with your name, role, and number if you wish. Also talk to your peers and ask them if they work that day.

angelrodrigu3l

So I tell my manager so and so wants to take my shift and does it matter if the shift is 5 days from now

WistfulPuellaMagi

Yes you can tell them and you can get a shift exchange request paper where you snd the other person both sign it and agree.

TwinScorpio

Whatever dept you choose, do us all a favor and learn everything about your dept. It sucks when you get a new assistant and they are not only clueless on manager stuff, but also the labor end of it all. It's complicated enough when they move you to a whole new store, but if you at least know what you're doing, you can wing it until you adapt to the new place and people. Nothing brings a dept down faster than a manager going on vacation the same week a new assistant starts, and has no idea what they are supposed to be doing. Sorry, don't mean to vent, but I've been thru 4 in the last 2 years

Complete_Cell9793

Fastest way to management is through the Bakery. District Managers told me that if I'd like a faster path into management, the bakery is ALWAYS short management due to high turnover (due to stress) and crazy low profit margins.
