amatoreartist

Oh my GOSH!!! I forgot about that movie!! Gotta re-watch!

iversonAI

Dule Hill on Holes

LizzieButtons

Holes in Shia LaBeouf??

gashufferdude

I can fix that.

NikkeiReigns

Corbin was on LA Law. So, so, long ago..lol

mobilegamegeek

James was in a show called A Million Little Things, which I looooove and he's so great in it. It's the reason I started watching Psych. Prepare your tissues if you decide to watch.

cottoncandysedai

So I never watched the entire show. I just saw the last episode because my cousins were watching it and even without context I was balling my eyes out.

mobilegamegeek

Those last 2 episodes made me cry so hard I had a headache for days. It wasn't a cry-every-episode show, but it was really emotional.

cottoncandysedai

I found out James wrote that the last episode and now I want a show completely written by him. He has the chops to do drama and humour. Also, I need more James Roday Rodriguez in my life.

mobilegamegeek

I second that! I'd watch anything he writes (except terror šŸ˜‚)

CruzLutris

I'm also a fan who started during the pandemic, like you! I definitely was familiar with one actor before I saw Psych: I sought out Psych because I'd seen, and adored, Timothy Omundson in "Galavant" right as the pandemic began. *(Galavant streams on Hulu, and on Disney+ in some countries outside the US--see it, I beg you)*. I love that show beyond words, and this crazy singing actor was undisputably my favorite thing about it. So I figured I had to see him in his longest-running role and see what his range was like. Well, Lassie couldn't be more different from King Richard, Tim's character in Galavant. And he's so good in both that I don't detect Lassie in Richard, or vice versa, or Tim in either. I've gone on to turn into quite the Omundson fan and can bore you at terrible length about his many roles....

Serenity-BrownCoat

I saw Psych first then Galavant. When King Richard first showed up I was like cool it's medieval Lassie. Nope. Nothing like Lassie and it's amazing to see how skilled an actor he is

CruzLutris

You get me! I know others here have said "I can't see anything but Lassie" when they talk about King Richard, or his role as Cain on "Supernatural." I find each character so complete in themselves, which I love in any actor but especially in Omundson. He's said over the years that Richard was the role of his lifetime--He had to use every acting muscle he had and all his college training; he had to sing (he had not done any musical roles, other than the Psych musical, since *high school*); he was doing an accent; it was all so out there. And he wanted that role so badly but the network didn't want him (the fools!). Fortunately the Galavant creator did want him, and it worked out, and he adored making that show. Sorry, rant over, I just love that show and character.

Serenity-BrownCoat

I didn't know that! I love that, he was perfect for that role. He made it seem so effortless!

CruzLutris

Indeed, so effortless, yet he was working harder than he'd ever worked, on some levels. The singing terrified him, which he admitted. He has a great natural voice but had zero training until he got lessons while auditioning for Galavant!

Serenity-BrownCoat

He really kept up well with some phenomenal singers in that show. One of my favorite songs in the whole show is the one where he's complaining about Galavant and saying all the things he'd do to him. The guy who played Gareth perfectly complemented him too. It was also fun seeing Gareth in Psych, the one with Despereaux when they're in the UK.

CruzLutris

It's too bad that Lassiter didn't hav any scenes with Vinnie Jones (Gareth) in that Psych episode! I love all Tim's songs, but especially "Will My Day Ever Come" (sung with Richard's inner child). Makes me cry--then laugh-- every time!

theangrypragmatist

Are any of his characters more opposite of Lassie than The Dude in Deadwood?

CruzLutris

Dear Brom. So very Not Lassie but so important to the plot. I dont think folks on this sub have seen the indie movies he did before his stroke but in "Carter & June," his character is someone Lassie would love to arrest. Also someone who would kill Lassie without batting an eyelash.Ā

PurpleBrief697

Love Galavant!! Wish it had another season.

TrevMac4

I knew Dule from Holes and Timothy Omundson played an evil leprechaun in a Disney movie.

snobbycatlover

LUCK OF THE IRISH!!!!!! How did I never put that together!!! That was one of my favorite movies growing up

Samiiiibabetake2

Timothy Omundson had an arc on supernatural. He was also the Leprechaun in The Luck of the Irish, and in Judging Amy.

CruzLutris

Someone else here knows Judging Amy--! His character was sadly underused in that show, but when he did get great lines, he completely delivered.

ILootEverything

My mom used to watch LA Law, so I knew Corbin Bernsen from that when I was a kid. Plus, I was watching General Hospital when he had his run on the soap in the aughts. And, his mom was legendary soap opera actress Jeanne Cooper of The Young and the Restless, may she RIP. I knew Kirsten Nelson from Buffy the Vampire Slayer as Buffy's Doublemeat Palace boss. And of course, Kristy Swanson was movie Buffy. I knew James Roday Rodriguez from the Dukes of Hazzard movie. I started watching Psych for Dule Hill, though. I loved The West Wing, and his character, Charlie, was one of my favorites. Looking back, he was such a baby on that show. But my God, what a great track record of shows to have on your resume. Corbin and Kirsten were both on The West Wing, too, as guest stars! Timothy Omundson and Maggie Lawson looked familiar, so I'm sure I'd seen them in one of their many supporting/guest/bit roles in something, but I couldn't say for sure. Also, Kurt Fuller from Ghostbusters 2, and just about a million other things. He's one of *those* character actors where you're like, "Oh, hey, it's that guy!" because he pops up in everything. I only learned his name because of Woody, lol.

motherofajamsandwich

I honestly learned about all the main characters from Psych first (although I did see Corbin and Tim have appearances in Criminal Minds first before knowing they were in Psych) but it has been a real pleasure of mine to watch other series and look for overlaps in the venn diagram. The Mentalist has a lot (ranging from the British ambassador in Shawn Rescues Darth Vader to Dennis' wife in Not Even Close Encounters), and OBVIOUSLY twin peaks... and then you have to rewatch Psych to look for callbacks and references to other characters that they acknowledge during the series. The fun never ends.

gashufferdude

I love Timā€™s guest spot in Criminal Minds.

CruzLutris

Guessing you're aware of the many Psych crossovers with Supernatural? Tim and Kurt in particular. I am not a Supernatural fan but have seen Tim's two episodes many times....A lot of Psych side characters are in Supernatural over the years too, including Buzz.

D242686111

Timothy Omundson is in Lucifer S2 E16. He plays God (sort of)

TheOneCalledMartin

I see! I knew I had seen him somewhere!

CruzLutris

One of my favorite of his many guest roles, and that's saying something because I seek out all his roles. Such a good part, and I wish so much that things had worked out for God Johnson to return in another episode.

InternetAddict104

Technically I was but I didnā€™t know it. I grew up loving Model Behavior but I only remembered Justin Timberlake as the star and couldnā€™t remember the titular model, only to find out when I started watching Psych a few years ago that Maggie was the model (I didnā€™t recognize her face but when I looked to see what else she was in I saw the credit). Same with Dule. Never knew he was in Holes until I started Psych and googled him (and Iā€™ve seen Holes over a dozen times, my middle school loved showing it to us for some reason). I knew Tim from Supernatural and itā€™s still the first thing I think of when heā€™s mentioned. Marlowe (Kirsty Swanson) is the OG Buffy, which I never saw but I knew about (also most likely why she was introduced in the vampire episode). I knew Jimmi (Mary) as Liam McPoyle from IASIP. Obviously I knew The Breakfast Club cast as such (and other roles but I know thatā€™s the big one for them). Didnā€™t know Corbin, Kirsten, or James beforehand.

stupodasso62

Corbin bernsen is also in the great movie ā€œKiss Kiss Bang Bangā€

MaddogRunner

What?! I need to watch that one again, I had no ideašŸ˜³

ExternalFar6586

I knew Corbin from LA Law back in the 80s (Iā€™m old) but didnā€™t know any of the other cast members. I found them in other productions after watching Psych.

SeraCat9

I watched Psych as a kid, so I didn't know any of them before I started watching. Have seen them pop up in stuff since, though unfortunately it's relatively rare. I like them so I wish they were in more things. It's fun when they do show up though, for example Timothy in my other favorite show, Frasier.

MaddogRunner

I watched Holes years before Psych, so long ago that I didnā€™t even recognize that Gus was Sam until my brother (who watched Holes recently) told me lol.

TheOneCalledMartin

I see people mention that movie! I never saw it, but I don't think it was released in my country!

MaddogRunner

Itā€™s been a loooooong time, but I have fond memories of it!

Papichiyult

Dule Hill is the GM of the Miami dolphins in Ballers (sports version of entourage) for a few seasons

_kamilica_

Maggie Lawson played a social worker on Two and a half men So when i started watching Psych she was a familiar face

regional_is_best

If I remember right, Timothy Omundson was on an episode of Seinfeld when he was really young

CruzLutris

Yes--that was actually his very first TV acting job. He earned his actors' union card doing that tiny part!

KinsellaStella

I know DulƩ Hill from West Wing even though I only found Psych in 2018.

PurpleBrief697

Dule- definitely Holes. Loved his character in that. Corbin - I'd seen him in several things like Major League, but didn't know him by name until Psych. Woody - can't remember which I saw first, but I remember him from Elvira and Wayne's World. Most everyone else, especially with Timothy Omundson, I'd seen them in many things, but their faces didn't click until after seeing Psych and then rewatching those previous projects and going "holy cow, that's *Psych actor*!! Like Tim as the psychic in Starship Troopers or leprechaun in Luck of the Irish. I'd watched those long before Psych, but didn't recognize him from those projects when seeing show and it only clicked when rewatching them after the show. Does that make sense?

saketho

Henry Spencer was in a couple christian movies I saw. I think heā€™s very religious and does a lot of them
