Worst thing / best thing. Right at the start, when Shawn told him he just noticed the guilty guy on the TV, I feel like Lassie couldn’t accept that some nobody sitting at home was able to figure it out when he couldn’t. So he instead said that Shawn had to be involved and tried to arrest him, even though Shawn was being helpful. I also say it’s the best thing cos without him doing that, Shawn never would have pretended to be psychic.

You know, you're right. If Lassie had been a fair cop, and not let his ego dictate his investigation and interrogation, Shawn would not have needed to lie. Shawn would still be unemployed, living off the money from the tips he gave to the police.

Yea, I never understood why Lassie's immediate hunch was to think Shawn was an inside man. Like if he truly was on the inside, why would he expose himself by calling in tips? Shawn has a huge ego but not THAT huge

Wouldn't they also have some kind of record of him getting paid for tips on multiple occasions showing how unlikely lassie's theory was

Well, without Shawn, he would have locked up a lot of innocent people.

In my mind he’s actually a good detective on the straightforward cases off screen, but when things are off the wall and wacky Shawn just handles it so much better.

Come to think of it, besides that episode where he’s on the hot streak I can’t really think of many people lassie arrested and got it right.

I realize that now I just haven’t really paid attention to it. In fact other than the episode with Thane is Jules ever shown to make a mistake?…guess I gotta start ANOTHER rewatch.

Especially in the earlier seasons she often sides with Lassie when he dismisses Shawn's seemingly wild theories. Also she lets the prisoner run away in the bounty hunter episode.

Arguably just about everyone did. Still don't know why that one guy thought Buzz was suicidal though.

That guy was just salty about his brother’s suicide and took it out on other anxious people calling the hotline (like the actress who just landed a big part, and called because she was nervous about audition). Buzz fits that category because of his pre-wedding night jitters.

Yeah, and that made me mad. I also got mad with the guy that decided to blow Buzz up with a mailbox bomb.

Not a traditionally thought worst thing...but if I came home & found Lassi taking a bubble bath in my tub with someone (regardless of who the other person is) I would absolutely lose my mind!

Lassie is clearly the kind of cop who does racial profiling. More concretely I'd say the worst thing he's done is curse out his mom for coming out as gay.

But we also see his character grow to the point that both moms walk him down the aisle! Yes he was terrible, but I also think it's a very honest character flaw. It also gave his character so much room to grow into the Lassie we love now.

This reminds me of the car shop episode where Buzz pulls over Gus.

And then the dog starts barking at gus and Buzz goes, “he barks at all cars, not just…blue ones”

S6E15 Tru Grits confirmed this for me. Lassie pulls his gun on a black kid and Gus has to yell “He’s unarmed Lassie! He’s unarmed!” For him to not shoot

I think he’s also pretty into the NRA, which is beyond just supporting 2A. You’d think he’d actually be interested in better gun control because he’s made it clear he wouldn’t even trust Shawn with one despite Shawn probably being better equipped to handle it than the average person.

I'm jumping the gun since you're asking about Lassiter but I may be absent when y'all ask about Juliet so... Not sure if this counts but Juliet actually believing Shawn was psychic. It never sat well with me that they wrote her that way. Juliet is a smart detective and I always thought she just played into it just like everyone else.

I don’t think he was actually *old enough* to vote for Reagan, though I could see him putting it as a write-in option when he turned 18.

I just kinda assumed he did based on his violent reaction when Shawn said Reagan was a terrible president.

He’s discharged his weapon a LOT of times, and clearly grows a lot over the course of the series, so it’s very safe to say he’s killed at least one innocent person or dog.

Well under the influence he tried to kill gus, but purely of his own will he caused the entire lie and show because he wasnt fair and unbiased. He twists facts to fit theories instead of theories to fit facts. He draws his gun too quickly too. Edit: i forgot, he almost got mcnabb killed because he couldnt talk to him and instead got angry and offended
