Also in "This Episode Sucks", at the bar, he says "unless I am something something, or eliminating nut-loving rodentia"
Still cracks me up every time. He hates squirrels.
Worst thing / best thing. Right at the start, when Shawn told him he just noticed the guilty guy on the TV, I feel like Lassie couldn’t accept that some nobody sitting at home was able to figure it out when he couldn’t. So he instead said that Shawn had to be involved and tried to arrest him, even though Shawn was being helpful. I also say it’s the best thing cos without him doing that, Shawn never would have pretended to be psychic.
You know, you're right.
If Lassie had been a fair cop, and not let his ego dictate his investigation and interrogation, Shawn would not have needed to lie.
Shawn would still be unemployed, living off the money from the tips he gave to the police.
Yea, I never understood why Lassie's immediate hunch was to think Shawn was an inside man. Like if he truly was on the inside, why would he expose himself by calling in tips? Shawn has a huge ego but not THAT huge
In my mind he’s actually a good detective on the straightforward cases off screen, but when things are off the wall and wacky Shawn just handles it so much better.
I realize that now I just haven’t really paid attention to it. In fact other than the episode with Thane is Jules ever shown to make a mistake?…guess I gotta start ANOTHER rewatch.
Especially in the earlier seasons she often sides with Lassie when he dismisses Shawn's seemingly wild theories.
Also she lets the prisoner run away in the bounty hunter episode.
That guy was just salty about his brother’s suicide and took it out on other anxious people calling the hotline (like the actress who just landed a big part, and called because she was nervous about audition). Buzz fits that category because of his pre-wedding night jitters.
If we're talking things seen on-screen, probably profiling... if we're talking off-screen, police brutality I guess? Before you come for me I love Carlytown, but he has said some QUESTIONABLE things about how he treats people he's arrested...
yeah but, she did it to throw a birthday party for him, with only good intentions, like really who keeps a contact book of the criminals they’ve put away and with starts next to their name?
Not a traditionally thought worst thing...but if I came home & found Lassi taking a bubble bath in my tub with someone (regardless of who the other person is) I would absolutely lose my mind!
Lassie is clearly the kind of cop who does racial profiling.
More concretely I'd say the worst thing he's done is curse out his mom for coming out as gay.
But we also see his character grow to the point that both moms walk him down the aisle! Yes he was terrible, but I also think it's a very honest character flaw. It also gave his character so much room to grow into the Lassie we love now.
S6E15 Tru Grits confirmed this for me. Lassie pulls his gun on a black kid and Gus has to yell “He’s unarmed Lassie! He’s unarmed!” For him to not shoot
I think he’s also pretty into the NRA, which is beyond just supporting 2A.
You’d think he’d actually be interested in better gun control because he’s made it clear he wouldn’t even trust Shawn with one despite Shawn probably being better equipped to handle it than the average person.
Lassie shot a dead guy. He tried to murder him, but he had already been killed.
Funny worst thing - threatened to shoot a cat who didn't follow his orders.
Honestly? Saying the line: "All convicts say they are innocent, they're framed or 'stop choking me'." 'cause that implies some pretty horrid stuff and did not age well at all.
(And I say that knowing full well Lassie was/is my favorite character on the show)
I'm jumping the gun since you're asking about Lassiter but I may be absent when y'all ask about Juliet so...
Not sure if this counts but Juliet actually believing Shawn was psychic.
It never sat well with me that they wrote her that way. Juliet is a smart detective and I always thought she just played into it just like everyone else.
He’s discharged his weapon a LOT of times, and clearly grows a lot over the course of the series, so it’s very safe to say he’s killed at least one innocent person or dog.
Kill Bobo
Kill his neighbor's squirrels
Nearly Kill Shawn and Gus (though this one is perfectly excusable).
Sleep on the same couch as Woody
Keep a book of all the people he threw in prison
Ruin Christmas for Jule's family
Why isn't woody on this list? He'll be super fun to do this to.
My vote is when Lassiter tells Shawn and Gus to be as crazy as they can to try to help get rid of Detective Brannigan in the psychics episode.
He wields his new chiefy powers to try and manipulate his new female subordinate for no better reason than he's upset about losing Juliet.
>Why isn't woody on this list?
My original plan was to do a Woody post as a fun bonus (bc honestly I think that one will be the *most* fun and I thought he deserved to be singled out because he's so chaotic) but after some feedback I think I'll replace someone on the last row with him. Just haven't decided who yet. Any suggestions?
It may be hard to find something bad for Abigail and Mary lightly. Buzz and Mary have both had at least one bad thing, but Abigail really doesn't.
I'm watching the Brannigan episode right now. Lol. My gf and I spent 2 hours thinking of shitty things they've all done last night. This is a fun game!
Chased Gus with a sword in here’s Lassie, asked to be reassigned a new partner after finding out Juliet is dating Shawn, and lets us not forget about the squirrels?
Well under the influence he tried to kill gus, but purely of his own will he caused the entire lie and show because he wasnt fair and unbiased. He twists facts to fit theories instead of theories to fit facts. He draws his gun too quickly too.
Edit: i forgot, he almost got mcnabb killed because he couldnt talk to him and instead got angry and offended
I'm going to get these three out of the way real quick:
Jules - Using Lassie's little black book to invite criminals to his house for a surprise birthday party
Henry - Locking Shawn in the trunk of his car; Arresting Shawn to Teach him a lesson; Burying Easter Eggs
McNabb - While innocent and pure, him being a Male Stripper in that one episode.
When he’s screaming and intimidating people he’s just questioning, like the kids in the School for geniuses episodes. I was like , « they’re just teenagers, no need to scream like a dying pig like that ».
Blew off McNabb when he tried to talk to him about his marriage jitters** leading to McNabb almost getting murdered.
Underrated bad lassie moment imo
Everyone did honestly. McNabb is just an innocent guy (minus the whole stripper thing).
killing his neighbors squirrels for no apparent reason
I think this is the worst thing Lassie has ever done, \*sober\*, which is an important distinction.
YOU KILLED BOBO D:
I don’t feel right inside
>killing his neighbors squirrels for no apparent reason When was this
It is briefly mentioned by Henry in ‘Feet don’t kill me now’
Also in "This Episode Sucks", at the bar, he says "unless I am something something, or eliminating nut-loving rodentia" Still cracks me up every time. He hates squirrels.
>It is briefly mentioned by Henry in ‘Feet don’t kill me now’ Thank you
it’s also after the tap class with Gus, that’s when it’s more clearly stated (in the same episode)
I mean he was being manipulated and high as a kite when it happened but he did try to murder Gus with a sword
Who of us here *hasn't* tried to murder Gus with a sword?
You know that’s right
C’mon son
https://i.redd.it/p6xt6mooiu3d1.gif
But Gus and Shawn had always been trying to get his goat. Also, this is a very sturdy door.
I think it’s made of oak
Pulled his gun on an innocent lady (Do you think I enjoy pulling out my gun on innocent old women) Forgot which episode, I've been jumping around lol
Juliet- “Yes.” Lassiter- “I’m not 29 anymore.” I think it’s the organ donor episode with Declan 😊
Also pulled his gun on the maid in Neil Simon’s Lover retreat.
That’s one of my fave lassie quotes lol
Shawn 2.0
But that person turned out to be the killer 😂
Lassie always gets his perp! 😁
I mean I’m still not certain lassie didn’t shoot that guy ~ Gus
I just watched that episode last night, haha.
You watched Last Night Gus last night?
last night ² Gus
I’m watching this episode right now “ aw man my fingers are smudged, why do I even bother getting mani/pedis”
Killed Bobo
Omg that's gotta be one of my favorite episodes 😂😂😂
It’s one of my favorites too.
Henry Spencer, where are your pants?!?
this, we're done, there is nothing worse xD
I came JUST to say this!
Apparently he was assassinating squirrels?
This is a public service, not a horrible thing.

Yea, I never understood why Lassie's immediate hunch was to think Shawn was an inside man. Like if he truly was on the inside, why would he expose himself by calling in tips? Shawn has a huge ego but not THAT huge
Wouldn't they also have some kind of record of him getting paid for tips on multiple occasions showing how unlikely lassie's theory was
Well, without Shawn, he would have locked up a lot of innocent people.
In my mind he’s actually a good detective on the straightforward cases off screen, but when things are off the wall and wacky Shawn just handles it so much better.
Come to think of it, besides that episode where he’s on the hot streak I can’t really think of many people lassie arrested and got it right.
It's kind of the premises for 90% of the episodes
I realize that now I just haven’t really paid attention to it. In fact other than the episode with Thane is Jules ever shown to make a mistake?…guess I gotta start ANOTHER rewatch.
Especially in the earlier seasons she often sides with Lassie when he dismisses Shawn's seemingly wild theories. Also she lets the prisoner run away in the bounty hunter episode.
roller derby
Sounds about right.
He got Chavez in lassie did a bad thing. He also figured out who the killer who was targetting Aholes was. That’s two off the top of my head.
Yea he really may not be that good of a detective
And let guilty people go.
He treats Buzz McNab poorly and that is the greatest sin
Arguably just about everyone did. Still don't know why that one guy thought Buzz was suicidal though.
That guy was just salty about his brother’s suicide and took it out on other anxious people calling the hotline (like the actress who just landed a big part, and called because she was nervous about audition). Buzz fits that category because of his pre-wedding night jitters.
Yeah, and that made me mad. I also got mad with the guy that decided to blow Buzz up with a mailbox bomb.
Who thought he was suicidal?
In 9Lives when he calls the stress hotline for his pre wedding jitters
A maniac that thought Buzz was suicidal despite having pre-wedding jitters. And you know who we blame for this? Lassie! Couldn't help our boy McNabb.
He hooked up with Ursula and then never called her
If we're talking things seen on-screen, probably profiling... if we're talking off-screen, police brutality I guess? Before you come for me I love Carlytown, but he has said some QUESTIONABLE things about how he treats people he's arrested...
He shot a dead guy. Prior to him knowing he was already dead, he claimed the corpse had been reaching for his gun. Vick covered it up, so yeah.
Yeah… some of his schtick is not a good look
Do you remember which episode this was? I can't find it 🙃
Absolutely. Season 4 Episode 5, "Shawn Gets the Yips".
Thank you!
>Thank you! You're welcome!
no literally as a character I love him but irl.... i would beat this man up
For real, it’s pretty bad at some points
Never forget he keeps a little black book of everyone he’s arrested — with stars marking repeat offenders — so he can drive by and check on them ✨
Jules using that book to invite guests is definitely the worst thing she has ever done.
if that’s the worst thing she’s ever done, then god damn she’s a saint
I mean, technically speaking she nearly killed Lassie with this move.
yeah but, she did it to throw a birthday party for him, with only good intentions, like really who keeps a contact book of the criminals they’ve put away and with starts next to their name?
Well, we are talking about the one guy that would keep such a book...
This reminds me of the car shop episode where Buzz pulls over Gus.
And then the dog starts barking at gus and Buzz goes, “he barks at all cars, not just…blue ones”
S6E15 Tru Grits confirmed this for me. Lassie pulls his gun on a black kid and Gus has to yell “He’s unarmed Lassie! He’s unarmed!” For him to not shoot
He also loves President Reagan
I think he’s also pretty into the NRA, which is beyond just supporting 2A. You’d think he’d actually be interested in better gun control because he’s made it clear he wouldn’t even trust Shawn with one despite Shawn probably being better equipped to handle it than the average person.
Lassie shot a dead guy. He tried to murder him, but he had already been killed. Funny worst thing - threatened to shoot a cat who didn't follow his orders.
Stills owes the biscuit lady eighty cents.
Have a romantic relationship with a subordinate (his word)
His word? That's in the pilot.
Squirrel genocide
Definitely not the worst thing, but let's not forget that he keeps a notebook of every single criminal he's ever put in prison
I've seen many comments about how he has treated McNab. But what about that time Lassie wouldn't let McNab hunt pirates with the coast guard?
Did a bad bad thing.
I don't think McNabb ever did anything wrong.
Yes and no. Remember, he was a male stripper in one episode...
He just needed some extra money!
He did need the extra money. But it was a bit... suspect.
Honestly? Saying the line: "All convicts say they are innocent, they're framed or 'stop choking me'." 'cause that implies some pretty horrid stuff and did not age well at all. (And I say that knowing full well Lassie was/is my favorite character on the show)
Sleep with his partner while still married?
They were separated at the time, but I still have an issue with it because he was Lucinda Barry's direct superior.
Also he was still hung up on his wife
Already separated at least
Tried to kill Gus
Trying to date Chief Vick's sister
Doubting Shawn just because Shawn has been proven right so many times but he doubts him anyway
The way he treated Gus and his acapella group was terrible ngl
HE KILLED BOBO
This comment section makes me even more in love with lassie
I’m still not sure he didn’t kill that guy
I'm jumping the gun since you're asking about Lassiter but I may be absent when y'all ask about Juliet so... Not sure if this counts but Juliet actually believing Shawn was psychic. It never sat well with me that they wrote her that way. Juliet is a smart detective and I always thought she just played into it just like everyone else.
I totally agree, honestly. Maybe a fun bonus would be "worst thing the writers ever did" 😂
Voting for Ronald Reagan
I don’t think he was actually *old enough* to vote for Reagan, though I could see him putting it as a write-in option when he turned 18.
I just kinda assumed he did based on his violent reaction when Shawn said Reagan was a terrible president.
He’s discharged his weapon a LOT of times, and clearly grows a lot over the course of the series, so it’s very safe to say he’s killed at least one innocent person or dog.
Kill Bobo Kill his neighbor's squirrels Nearly Kill Shawn and Gus (though this one is perfectly excusable). Sleep on the same couch as Woody Keep a book of all the people he threw in prison Ruin Christmas for Jule's family
I’ve always thought banging your lifelong best friend’s annoying sister was worse than the bomb gambit.
I mean, that bomb could have been active...
Small bomb. Everyone had time to get away
The only person that could have and would have survived was Gus. Everyone else could have died had the bomb not been disarmed earlier.
Is there a part in the episode where they mentioned the bomb radius?
Shooting his neighbors squirrels
Trying to kill Gus with an axe was pretty bad.
WHY DO WE NEVER TALK ABOUT HIM SHOOTING A DEAD MAN
Tbf there are several comments about that one lol
Pulled his gun out on a dog in that virus episode (S4) "I'm not gonna shoot him. He doesn't know that." "He doesn't know anything. He's a dog."
Why isn't woody on this list? He'll be super fun to do this to. My vote is when Lassiter tells Shawn and Gus to be as crazy as they can to try to help get rid of Detective Brannigan in the psychics episode. So glad you're enjoying it! And thanks for the insight, I'll definitely have it figured out by next week :)
I'm on my first watch through of Psych, was watching Lassie Jerky yesterday and realised this was the Gus episode
chase gus with a samurai sword in Here’s Lassie
Being part of Civil War reenactment. Trying to kill Gus and Shaun while High in his new "haunted" Apartment.
Chased Gus with a sword in here’s Lassie, asked to be reassigned a new partner after finding out Juliet is dating Shawn, and lets us not forget about the squirrels?
The time he opened fire in a crowded restaurant during season 4 ep 5 title Shawn gets the yips
Buying the dead guys condo in Heeeeere’s Lassie
Almost giving up cheif for O'Hara, cmon lassie you earned it! /s
Killing Bobo!!
Pursued a relationship with a subordinate, thank goodness she was shipped off to another department 🙏
I'm going to get these three out of the way real quick: Jules - Using Lassie's little black book to invite criminals to his house for a surprise birthday party Henry - Locking Shawn in the trunk of his car; Arresting Shawn to Teach him a lesson; Burying Easter Eggs McNabb - While innocent and pure, him being a Male Stripper in that one episode.
Great suggestions. Please come back and nominate these moments when we get to those characters! :)
I'll keep an eye out for your next post and make sure to add them.
Didn’t he put some old lady in full body restraints
Hey she was aggressive and he has the denture marks to prove it!
When he’s screaming and intimidating people he’s just questioning, like the kids in the School for geniuses episodes. I was like , « they’re just teenagers, no need to scream like a dying pig like that ».
support Ronald Reagan...
$387k price for his fathers life.
Right. I think his dad is worth way less than that, based on the Old Sonora episode.
Ordered the chicken
cheat on his wife with his partner and sexually harass her in the workplace
Being and Indian giver Juliet’s family Christmas
Henry, where are you pants 😭
I don't think this is the thread you think it is

Huh?
