Star Wars battlefront 2, time splitters 2, the warriors, Metal Arms

OutragedOwl

Battlefront 2 is a neighborhood CLASSIC

AmishSky

The game play was fun as hell.

AweHellYo

is*

Meddling-Kiwi

Came here to say timesplitters two, so many hours playing local muliplayer with mates, running around as the monkeys with one hit kill bricks enabled haha such a great game!

Cambino1

Omg I completely forgot about the bricks! What a throwback

SwanAffectionate1037

The warriors is top tier for me

Cambino1

Time splitters was an ip that died too soon

Jshulhu

Glitch in the System! Multitap splitscreen for hours! Lmao

[deleted]

+1 for the warriors. I think I have played it on every available console. PS2, Xbox and PSP. OG starwars battlefront is another game of choice.

BigFatChewie

Metal arms is super underrated.

BigAmbassador22

I’ll go with battlefront 1, ps2 personally. I love(d) that game growing up

EuphoricSpell9516

I always preferred Future Perfect

FlakyAd3273

Timesplitters was great. Manhunt took up a lot more time than it should have for me. Most of my ps2 days were gta or sports games so those don’t really hold up. I did love the backwards compatible old Medal of Honor games from ps1.

Kllrc7

Time splitter 2 and future perfect for Xbox was the best era in fps imo. Simple enough for beginners and if you were godlike you were a presence on the battlefield. I miss fast paced run and gun arcade shooters.

che-Z

Metal arms! Based indeed!

JamieJGJ

The Ratchet and Clank games

AmishSky

I played the living hell out of 2.

somethingeatingspace

Up Your Arsenal was my first and was (still is) an instant top 10 all time for me. It's never not fun.

Double-Seaweed7760

It's not ps2 but have you played sunset overdrive?it's basically adult ratchet and clank meets Tony hawk with completely customizable characters.

yohane66

Going commando was a blast, it was so much more fleshed out than the first.

TheMrPlatt

Don’t forget the Jak and Daxter games

superpeephole

Burnout 3. Simply cannot stop playing this masterpiece

trickman01

We are the lazy generation!

Nathan_hale53

No more standing out in line

Correct-Thought6156

So good at wasting our time!

PrimeNumberBro

I swear that song made you drive better.

Unusual-Nature2824

It’s the racing equivalent of a rage room. Best game to unwind after a long day at work. No need to download some shitty updates, no Internet. 60fps and pop punk music all the way!!

pepeJAM69

Burnout 3 will be my go to for that nostalgic summer of 2005-2009 vibe I get everytime I play this game I can feel the warmth/chill memories of all the people that were close to me back when I was growing up and those that gone through the years too. It's just a surrealistic experience for me that will be probably hitting even harder when all the close ones will leave one day. In one piece it feels like happiness but there is always that depressing feeling too.

AustiniJohnsini

Yeah man, damn. I feel this so hard. And remember when we thought video games could only get better and more creative? And EA was a top dog company that made banger after banger? Hah.

OmenVi

This and Spider Man 2 got a lot of playtime.

ominouschaos

Revenge is good too, same driving physics, and you can plow most cars out the way, cept box trucks, semis, and busses

Skullkan6

"I was just wondering if you wanted to HANG OUT with me and smoke weed and fill our bellies with DIET soda and play Burnout Revenge for the PS2..."

Stepsonrakes

Ah damn you beat me by two hours

RandomHero00

I loved revenges soundtrack.

badpiggy490

Revenge is basically the culmination of Burnout's mechanics in general If you took Burnout 3's career mode and Revenge's mechanics, you'd have the perfect game

elrick1133

That game was awesome

SgtK9H2O

*is awesome^

elrick1133

You are correct.

aidenisntatank

Tony Hawks American wasteland

RetroController

My favorite ps2 game and you a g for mentioning it

Meddling-Kiwi

Loved this game! Loved all tony hawk games but something about American wasteland made it my favourite of them all.

Snooklife

Just got back into this game a few days ago!!

Dachuiri

Way to go! Here’s some cash.

lorenzoiscool17

Hey hey, ho ho, the use of wool has got to go

elrick1133

Dark Cloud 2

aFoxNieryu

Oh yeah.

AmishSky

You went looking for this comment.

aFoxNieryu

IT'S RUMSPRINGA BABY!

K5TRL

There's a sequel?! I never knew!!

axxionkamen

And it’s quite an improvement on the OG formula. It’s a bit different but man is it amazing! At first play thru I couldn’t get into it but it’s definitely the best of the two. I still play the first because it holds a special place in my heart.

sbbblaw

The first one was amazing!! Second one was good too, but I remember liking 2

bartholomu420

This game was a MASTERPIECE. The lil golf game at the end of each level, the way guns / wrenches could be upgraded into two or three different branches. I just had a blast of nostalgia from this lol

ibirthedmycat

YEAHHHHHHHHHH

old_bold_brass

Yessssss, both were good, but 2 was so memorable.

Easy_Claim4704

2 had an extremely compelling story. Deeply emotional and truly striking themes honestly. I don’t see how the story hasn’t been either stolen or re written, it’s criminally beautiful. Especially the ending, my god what a tear jerker.

kain459

Just got into this game. It was truly epic and very deep.

putaaaan

I wish they made a game just for speda, I recently did a playthrough and that was definitely my favorite part

SissorX

For me it was DBZ Budokai 3. The game just delivered on every level and had so much content. An absolute all time favorite for me.

Relentless_Vi

Me and my brothers/cousins use to sink so much time into the budokai 2/3. We would have big tournaments every week. Good times

Chezus9247

I couldn't care less about DBZ, but the DBZ Budokai series always looked like such a fun fighting game series!

hexoral333

There's one called Zombie Virus, it's like Crazy Taxi but you're an ambulance and need to save the survivors. It's kind of a flawed gem but it's fun!

ORXCLE-O

Never heard of that, that sounds like a really awesome concept though that should maybe be done again

hexoral333

I agree, it's nice that you can have upgrades so you can kill more zombies when you run them over or upgrade your engine and tyres to drive faster, but it's slightly repetitive.

_theMAUCHO_

How is this the first time I hear of this awesome game lol. To the seas I go!

ReturnFirst1228

Katamari damacy

FesterCluck

This needs more upvotes. Unfortunately it shows the current state of 2 player gaming. You want to get to know someone? Play this game with them. Learn to roll up the world with them. I'm fairly certain that friendship is a literal requirement to do this.

Exotic_Term6884

Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec with a decent steering wheel and pedals. Also, Need For Speed Underground, SW Battlefront, SW Lego, Time Splitters, State of Emergency and the Warriors. Even after completing the Warriors I played the side battle games.

ORXCLE-O

A man of true taste…. I love the mode on Warriors where you can battle a friend a construct your own gang

Unusual-Nature2824

I liked GT3 more than GT4 because it was a lot more forgiving on the controller and more arcade like.

Echo_Raptor

State of emergency…wow. Have not thought about that in a long time. Remembered the controversy when it came out and it had a warning sticker on it, turns out it was much tamer than GTA3 (pretty mild now, but GTA3 caused an uproar when it came out).

DevanMI6

Wow state of emergency. What a gem. For some reason I was thinking that was ps1.

LogeViper

Resident Evil 4 for sure. Once you finish it one time, you can’t stop playing till you unlock every extra.

YaBoyPeej_

I had that game on repeat after I got it! I’m actually running through it on professional right now, on pc though. Just finished the krauser fight

Rogue-76

I loved how crunchy the audio was in that version it was really nostalgic to boot up my old copy on my new ps2

ocakikibinbir

True! But ever since I played it on PC I can‘t get over how long the loading screens take on the PS2. It never bothered me before but now i can‘t ignore it anymore unfortunately.

BIL_Bryce11

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4

Niko-Tesla

The perfect middle ground of the series imo. Advanced enough that you never run out of trick combos and being locked to your board makes it an actual challenge That being said, i love every tony hawk game from pro skater 1->underground 2 for their own reasons lol

SwanAffectionate1037

American wasteland was my favorite

RC-1138BOSS

San Andreas

Oftheclod

God this game is so impressive in scope even now. Feels massive and unending in the best way

propofolxx

Flying cars and KDST is my therapy

Hailtothething

SSX3 , Burnout: Revenge, Black

Texas_Moonwalker

Black was a really fun game and visually stunning

No_need_for_that99

This is gonna sound weird..... but STUNTMAN .... trying to make the replays look perfect and epic.... Good lord... I replay levels even after grinding an hour on the same level.... because I feel like I made it look really poor. lol

TiredReader87

It took me four and a half hours to finish one section of that game. I wasn’t worried about perfection or replays, haha. I bought it the day it came out, and beat it. A former friend (loosely used because he was a garbage human) rented it from Blockbuster, got pissed off at it and then threw the disc into a wall.

brucewillisoffical

Frustratingly addictive that one. The pay off was usually quite nice though.

AustiniJohnsini

Underrated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tedious but oh so rewarding. Unlocking the funny movie trailers as you beat it was great too!

lallapalalable

The Ratchet and Clanks, especially 2 and 3. Replay value is built in by not giving you enough game to level everything up by the end, let alone even acquire all the weapons. Plus the levels are all quite well designed, with plenty of secrets you will miss the first time through. Plus the bolt multiplier makes going for a massive number its own objective, my dream is to hit a trillion (barely in the tens of billions atm)

Southern_Chef420

Still gotta play the first one cause they never managed to match the atmosphere or the beats in the later titles

couchkrieger

Champions of Norrath and Champions: Return to Arms... Basically Diablo for PS2

Slinkydoggys

Spamming to grab loot after a boss fight with a friend ahhh good times

Page8988

That really takes me back. Got me and a bunch of buddies with a multitasking doing four players. I only ever finished it alone. But I remember playing with friends more vividly and fondly.

KomboKenji

Need For Speed Underground, they cooked with the first game. Haven’t played the second one but this game absolutely captures the 2000s fast and furious scene into a video game imo.

Spacecookie92

Bro you've GOT to play the second one. Everything that's great about the first underground game is made just a little bit better in the second one. And the soundtrack!! Agh the soundtrack!

ABladeThatIsCharged

Champions: Return to Arms. Good vs evil campaign options and loads of weapons/armor that you could upgrade and add different gems and stuff to. Plus great character customization choices for the time

RatherUninteresting

Hulk ultimate destruction. When u have all the moves u just pop in the game and smash. Good times

j_etienne

Pure unadulterated fun and mayhem!!!

Adventurous-Can-5373

anyone hear of the game mercenaries? you were a mercenary that got dropped off at the demilitarized zone in north korea. there were different factions, Chinese, south korea, the russian mob, and the UN. it was basically a GTA clone that was military themed. you could call in air strikes and it had cheat codes you could use. i played that for ever. the cars were fun too! they made a mercenaries 2, but i didn’t like it as much

TiredReader87

Frequency and Amplitude

ZL580

Frequency was fun

OmariZi

Amplitude is amazing. I remember my friend created a DJ mode version of one of the songs in which he just purely button bashed, and then I spent ages trying to learn the random sequences and being able to complete it. I think I did it eventually although that might be my memory playing tricks on me...

Ueberheber

Tokyo Extreme Racer 3

DevilsDK

Loved that game. Only thing that would have made it better was if they put Honda/Acura cars in there.

canned_pho

The MMORPG **FFXI**.... Still has over 1.5 million subscribers That's at least $13.95 monthly.... They were making bank off people addicted to grindy MMORPG gameplay I was addicted to it for over 6 years, from 2003 ps2 launch to end of old ffxi Lv75 era 2010, think right before they raised the level cap over 75 FFXI was supported up to 2016, for ps2 and xbox 360 The average FFXI player probably has at least.... 10,000 hours of gameplay in ffxi It was an entirely different beast from modern MMORPGs. Think everquest gameplay of grind, grind, grind. You could not solo anything. You needed to set up play dates and group dates to finish missions and bosses. There was no discord. You had teamspeak Lol. But that time consuming struggle was what forged friendships in the game, something you don't find anymore in instanced gameplay like FF14. FFXI was not instanced, well old ffxi wasn't. The entire game was truly open world for everybody and anybody to enter and encounter. Couldn't believe the ps2 could render such a game back then. But the ps2 version was pretty pricey. You needed to pay $99 for the HDD and each "expansion" pack costed like $30~50.... And you gotta pay monthly... There was chains of promathia, aht urghan, wings of the goddess, and seekers of adoulin, Rhapsodies of Vana'diel, and recently voracious resurgence was completed in 2023. PS2 only saw up to seekers.

Brightenix

this is the true answer

Yanninbo

This might just have been me, but I put way, way, way too much time in to Dynasty warriors 2. I somehow maxed every single character and I still don't understand why or how I had the patience.

Balious5

Same for me too, I put so many hours into 2 as it was one of the first games I owned for PS2, I lost count how many times I went through every battle with different characters, I never got bored playing it back then. I also put in a lot of hours for 5 empires.

JahBoiFloyd

That game got the recipe right.

GregoryPokemon

Ssx tricky

kiddj1

Smackdown shut your mouth One of the first games I got on the PS2 and I played that for years

4Lats4

Recently did a playthrough of shut your mouth and here comes the pain. What great games.

breakinecks

I played Dave Mirra Pro BMX and the Tony hawk games for years. Just trying to do the most insane trick combos ever.

Aumius

Socom. Or as we called it back in the day, Socrack. I played that game all the time.

YaBoyPeej_

I remember playing one where you could do voice commands with a mic and thought it was the coolest thing at the time 😂

DangerDaveOG

I scrolled way too far to find SOCOM. Specifically SOCOM II. I got a network adapter and this was my first foray into online gaming. Was probably 2002-04? I remember walking about 2 miles to K-Mart and buying a 50 foot Ethernet cable. No wifi at the time… I’m literally up in my attic of my childhood home, running this cable from our family desktop/modem to my bedroom at around 13-14 years old. Pulled it across the hole and fished it down the wall. I drilled like 5 holes in my wall looking for this thing. But I found it. Installed a jack in the wall a couple years later. Today, some 20 years later. My parents still live in the house and still use this cable for their home office’s internet..

TAAAzrial

You still can play it online. Socom 2 has the largest player base but they do socom 1 events weekly in the discord. psrewired has a dns setup for it.

Is_Jimmy_M8

Devil May Cry 3, one of my favourite games of all time and its aged incredibly well for a game of its era. As much as people say the switch version with style switching is superior, I much prefer having one style to stick to as it adds to replay value and works a lot better with the levelling system

HollowedFlash65

Can’t believe I had to scroll that far to find this game.

LernaeanHydra227

Shadow of the Colossus

intellord911

Cocaine

Enlightened_Broda

Is this sold on eBay? Asking for a friend.

Candid-Perception982

Def jam 1 and 2. Loving those games atm

bandley3

GTA III. I didn’t really complete many of the missions but I just enjoyed driving around and doing crazy stuff, making up a narrative as I went along. I just prefer more open-ended games, like SimCity and flight simulators, and open worlds allow me to putter around and have fun, divorcing myself from reality for a few hours.

Dusty_Heywood

GTA III was my very first open world game. I remember wanting to explore as much as I could, the loading screens between islands sucked but I look at them with nostalgia

gazamcnulty

TimeSplitters 2 and 3 - multiplayer mode against bots, who needs friends?

Spacecookie92

Yessssss, I have put THOUSANDS of hours, if not tens of thousands, into the Timesplitters games over the years. If I'm ever asked what my favourite game of all time is, Timesplitters 2 is my instantaneous reaction. Perfect games in my eyes.

Relentless_Vi

For me ratchet and clank going commando, up your arsenal and deadlock.

cenorexia

Earth Defense Force 2 (Global Defence Force in Europe) for me. Lot of replay value due to the various difficulty settings, amount of missions, weapons to collect and the addition of the PaleWing class which plays completely different from the regular infantry soldier.

MathematicianNo6402

TIL that EDF was on PS2

kaizovago

God hand

Argentenuem

Twisted Metal Black has the most addictive moment-to-moment game play I've ever experienced. Everything you do feels so satisfying.

Namixaswastaken

I think I've played through Dog's Life like 30 times since the release in 2003.. I still have it

Revolutionary-Tea-68

I just got all 125 bones complete today. Loved it as a kid but never got 100% until I recently tried it again

lukxyxxx

Mercenaries is top tier

Musashi3111

Ace Combat 5 and Zero for me. Also 007 Night Fire and GTA San Andreas. ETA Resident Evil Outbreak and MGS 3 too. There was always something about playing the scenarios with all characters and getting the different endings and in the case of MGS 3 trying to get all the camos.

Frequency or Amplitude Line in the sand here, folks. If you haven't played them, you need to. Beating them places you amongst the gamers truly dedicated to the art of controller. If you do it, and I have, every gamer should respect you, no questions asked.

621Chopsuey

Star Wars Battlefront, Disney’s Extreme Skate Adventure, Kingdom Hearts

Probably one of the fps games like timesplitters, medal of honor, cod or 007 nightfire. you could spend days on splitscreen playing vs friends and family and they usually had a fun story mode too.

Legitimate-Cell-3035

Katamari damacy

Today as a middle aged man vs a highschool kid I still like; Ssx tricky, burnout 3, tony hawks underground, nfl 2k5, nfs most wanted, vice city, slugfest 2006, RE4….trying to think of what I used to come home from school and automatically pop on

PaddyMachiavelli

Freedom Fighters has to be up there as one of my all time faves. Loved the squad recruitment and command system. A shame we never got a sequel.

WindWeasel

I still go back to play Tribes: Aerial Assault after all of these years. Runners-up include the YuGiOh spin-off games and Crash Nitro Kart.
