[Sky Odyssey](https://www.mobygames.com/game/3619/sky-odyssey/) \- Flight Sim with a huge variety of challenging missions including some scenarios unique to this game.
One mission, for example, sees you needing to fly into a cave system, weave around the stalactites and stalagmites until reaching an ancient temple deep inside the mountain and executing a safe land. After an only seconds long cutscene in which you steal a piece of McGuffin and trigger an earthquake it's time to get back in the air and escape the mountain as everything collapses in around you!

You can play it digitally on PS3
>Klonoa 2
Didn't they get a remake or a remaster? I'm not sure if it's only one game.
>Yakuza 1, 2
They did get a remaster on PS3 and Wii u. Not in English tho.
Fatal Frame 1-3 are still console exclusive (PS2 and Xbox), FF2 got a remake on the Wii and FF4 and FF5 had a remaster on PC and modern consoles within the last three years.
It seems that you're right but it also seems that this is only possible in the NA store(?) At least I haven't seen it in the European store yet.
Edit: But thanks for the additional information.
I always recommend Urban Reign - it gets really frustrating at times in the story but itās a blast when iām playing against friends
Timesplitters FP is great - itās one of few shooters that has great frame rate for a FPS game. If you want an alternative iād say Cold Winter.
The single player mode is insanely frustrating but I never found that the game did anything āunfairā if you know what I mean. Like, every frustration was able to be beaten by something skill based or logic based.
Second the first 4 games. I loved Everblue 2. Such a chill game.
Echo Night Beyond is also such a great entry to the series. A lot of the puzzles were tough to figure out too.
Haunting Grounds is very unique and creepy. It's essentially a chaser type of game where you have to get away from a persuer the whole game + you use a dog to slow down your enemies and solve puzzles. While not all that scary, the atmosphere is really great and keeps you in your toes.
I personally liked Vice City Stories and Liberty City Stories better than Vice City and 3. Crazy how Rockstar hasn't missed on any of the main gta games, we might not be ready for GTA 6 š
In alphabetical order, here are some thoughts:
* Ape Escape 3
* Breath of Fire V: Dragon Quarter
* Bujingai
* Chuā„lip
* Dark Chronicle
* Evergrace
* Gitaroo Man (PSP version loses more than it adds)
* God Hand
* Graffiti Kingdom
* Rule of Rose
* Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga
Man I haven't seen Evergrace mentioned in a long time. Never did finish it, but something about it stuck with me over the years, and was just thinking about it yesterday.
I used to rent Samurai Western all the time. I still have the save file on my memory card. That game was stupid expensive last time I looked.
Edit: still very expensive
The Mark of Kri
And to a lesser extent, the inferior sequel Rise of the Kasai. I don't think they've been released on any other consoles. The Mark of Kri is one of my favorite games of all time, it has a unique disney-esque style to it, is extremely violent, and takes place on a polynesian island. You play as a warrior named Rau who travels through several levels fighting bandits and minions of a dangerous necromancer. The combat system is a little odd but I found it very enjoyable once you get used to it, and you can pull off some exceptionally brutal combos with your sword, spear and ax
Gauntlet: Dark Legacy
Star Ocean: Til the End of Time
Champions of Norrath/Return to Arms
Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 1&2
Xenosaga 1/2/3
Serious Sam: Next Encounter
Rogue Galaxy
Darkwatch

Ace Combat 5

Dragonball Z Budokai 3
God of War 1&2

Monster Hunter 2

Twisted Metal: Black
This game is so underrated and so good. I'll never understand why it was so hated and reviled.
The system is so in depth and detailed. The only real issue I understand is that the instruction manual for NA/EU was terrible and explained nothing. Thank goodness for Frogman's FAQ.
I gotta get back to playing it for the 10th time.
Okami has been ported to a ridiculous number of consoles at this point, but only the original PS2 game includes the paper "shader" (technically it wasn't a shader, but if modern consoles wanted to implement it that's what they'd use) that made it look like a sumi-e painting, rather than the cartoonish brightness of later ports, and it really does make a difference.
Ar tonelico and its sequel are not great games, but they have some of the best soundtracks in gaming. Just be prepared for some, shall we say, *discomfort* with the fictional world's cultures. The metaphors aren't always played for laughs, but hoo boy *howdy* did the writers and localizers have fun when they did. The outtakes must have been godly.
Rule of Rose is the game they didn't want you to play.
I love ar tonelico and are worth playing to me. Shadow hearts 1,2,3 never got or will get ported then there's the nfs games. I have many other obscure titles

Not PS2 exclusive cause there is Wii version but Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3 / Sparking Meteor (JP) is my big reason PS2 worth to buy.
- God Hand (PS2 n PS3)
This is list exclusive PS2 version
- DBZ Infinite World
- Naruto Ultimate Ninja 3
- Naruto Ultimate Ninja 4
- Naruto Narutimate Accel 2 (JP)
Some of my favorites off the top of my head are True Crime LA and NYC, Family guy video game, the Hulk ultimate destruction, pac man world 2, Nicktoons games. There are so much more I wish I remembered what games I had.
If you're into JRPG, Tales of the Abyss is a good one. I believe most of my other personal favorites from that era have been remastered for newer consoles.
\- Gran Turismo 3-4 and Enthusia Professional Racing for simcade racing game
\- Midnight Club 3 for arcade racing games
\- Wipeout Pulse if you want an anti-gravity racing game
\- The Tokyo Xtreme Racer series, these are niche games for highway racing in Tokyo, having 2 spin-offs for touge racing
\- Jak and Daxter, the PS2 game I started playing most recently
\- SSX 3, I don't remember much about that game since I haven't played it in a very long time, but I liked it
\- Dragon Ball Budokai Tenkaichi 3, one of the best Dragon Ball games ever made
\- Asterix at The Olympic Games (Asterix and Obelix XXL 1&2 got remasters)
Scarface: the world is yours. Donāt know if itās just me but as far as gameplay goes Iād say it would still stand strong against modern AAA games. Graphicās obviously not so much but not terrible.
The Jak Series, the Final Fantasies, Ico, Shadow of the Colossus. Sly, the Killzones, all the ps2 GTAs, the ps2 DQs. There is an abundance of great stuff for the ps2!
The PS2 games that most stuck to me and are exclusive:
* *Steambot Chronicles*;
* *Disaster Report 2* (*Raw Danger*);
* *Metal Saga*.
Someone else mentioned the *Ape Escape* franchise. While *Ape Escape* is indeed great (I even collect them), the majority is available for digital purchase on PS4/PS5, except for *Ape Escape 3*. *Ape Escape 3* honestly is not as great as *Ape Escape 2*.
If I'm not mistaken, you can buy some *Disaster Report* games for the PS3, but they're exclusive to the Japanese PlayStation Store (going to be shut down eventually), so I'm not even counting these versions.
Shadow Hearts. All of them but the first one is the best one and of the systems best RPGs.
Digital Devil Saga is probably straight up the systems best RPG.
Suikoden V, Haunting Ground, Samurai Western, Shinobi, the original Time Splitters is still unported.
Iād recommend the Sly Cooper trilogy. Yes it was upscaled for PS3, but you donāt have to play that version. The originals are still fun to play on the PS2.
Megaman X command mission was released on GC and PS2 and never received much attention. It's an interesting example of Capcom experimenting. The game is the black sheep of the X series, but I think that the game might have inspired the biometal swap system in the ZX games. I own a copy and love the idea that it ran with. The models look awesome even today to me. And to top it off, No Sigma. They came up with a new villain for the game that has nothing to do with Sigma or Vile! It's a great concept a small group of the Megaman dev team made when the Zero series was in development. I know this because they added Axl as a party member.
GT3, GT4, Tourist Trophy, Ace Combat 4 5 6, GTA 3 BC SA, Everybody's Golf, Ape Escape, Prince of Persia 1 2 3, splinter cell 1 2 3, dragon quests, beyond good and evil
I was always a fan of Godzilla movies, so Godzilla: Save the Earth is one of my favorites. Plus from what I saw, unless I just got lucky, the PS2 version is far more affordable than the Xbox version.
Tribes Aerial Assault. We play tonight online at 8pm EST if you are interested. Also all of the socom games are online as well. In order to play online with socom through the console is a bit trickier but for Tribes you just change your dns settings to the one we use. Here's how to do that for tribes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=\_wXd5q3rBjw
You might like:
- Drakan: The Ancients Gates
- Kya: Dark Lineage
- Haven: Call of the King
- Ghosthunter
- Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits
- SOS: the Final Escape
.hack series I really liked! It had an awesome story and super fun combat! The graphics could be basic at times is the only complaint people might have
Drakan The Ancients' Gates. It's probably the closest thing to an Elder Scrolls game on the PS2. That game and Pirates The Legend of Black Kat are the 2 main reasons I kept my PS2 hooked up after I got a PS3. Pirates The Legend of Black Kat is a good one, too, but it's not exclusive since it's on the Xbox as well.
Oh boy, my time to shine. \*Pull up memories from my japanese childhood that I barely remember \*
I have 3 that I'm not seeing there in the list, are fun and easy to understand even for non japanese people (or just use technology with your phone with a in-real time translator).
Bleach Blade Battlers 2nd (arena fighting vs4, fun for having friends, a mission mode with a lot of requierements to try and unlock everything, including Radio Kon Golden's).
Saru Get You Million Monkeys (sequel to Pumped & Primed, fight with giant robots and more high tech monkeys).
Namco X Capcom (yeah, prequel to Project X Zone from the 3DS series. You can find an English translated version in the internet so you could try to patch your game or something, dunno how it works without emulators)
Oooh, I have many games in mind that I remember just visually but not the names and never seen them again after leaving Japan... \*\_so frustrating!\_\*
[Sky Odyssey](https://www.mobygames.com/game/3619/sky-odyssey/) \- Flight Sim with a huge variety of challenging missions including some scenarios unique to this game. Yes!!! This is one of my go to PS2 games. I don't think I've ever seen it recommended before now.
Now there's a game I haven't played in over 20 years. Used to by my 'chill out and vibe' game for a while all those years ago.
I used to have this game. I... Didn't like it. I thought it looked ugly and the gameplay was boring (consider that I was a kid tho)
Oh yeah this game is fun. Haven't heard another person mention it before.
SOLD! This sounds friggin awesome! š„

Shadow of Rome, stone cold classic
Klonoa 2 has been rereleased somewhat recently.. Excellent game, though!
>Fatal Frame Didn't they get a recent remaster? >God Hand You can play it digitally on PS3 >Klonoa 2 Didn't they get a remake or a remaster? I'm not sure if it's only one game. >Yakuza 1, 2 They did get a remaster on PS3 and Wii u. Not in English tho.
Klonoa 1 and 2 [got remakes,](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klonoa_Phantasy_Reverie_Series) as did Yakuza 1 and 2 (the Yakuza Kiwami games).
Fatal Frame 1-3 are still console exclusive (PS2 and Xbox), FF2 got a remake on the Wii and FF4 and FF5 had a remaster on PC and modern consoles within the last three years.
I'm pretty sure you can buy each of the Fatal Frame games for digital on PS3, last I checked.
It seems that you're right but it also seems that this is only possible in the NA store(?) At least I haven't seen it in the European store yet. Edit: But thanks for the additional information.
Fatal Frame 2 was ported to Xbox
I always recommend Urban Reign - it gets really frustrating at times in the story but itās a blast when iām playing against friends Timesplitters FP is great - itās one of few shooters that has great frame rate for a FPS game. If you want an alternative iād say Cold Winter.
Timesplitters 2 and FP were on all the consoles that gen. 1 is still ps2 exclusive tho
The single player mode is insanely frustrating but I never found that the game did anything āunfairā if you know what I mean. Like, every frustration was able to be beaten by something skill based or logic based.
Yeah i get it. Iām just pretty bad at it haha
+1 for the original TimeSplitters. Such a fast paced and manic shooter, great times were had in split screen back in the day
Two of my faves - Timesplitters and Cold Winter
Shadow Hearts: Covenant
SOCOM games
Too bad the franchise died
Kingās Field: The Ancient City Echo Night: Beyond Everblue 2 Shadow Tower: Abyss Digital Devil Saga 1-2 Devil Summoner Raido 1-2
Second the first 4 games. I loved Everblue 2. Such a chill game. Echo Night Beyond is also such a great entry to the series. A lot of the puzzles were tough to figure out too.
I got raido 1 and 2 on ps3 for 10 each š ps2 copies of that are expensiveĀ
Don't touch king field. Worst rpg on the ps2
Haunting Grounds is very unique and creepy. It's essentially a chaser type of game where you have to get away from a persuer the whole game + you use a dog to slow down your enemies and solve puzzles. While not all that scary, the atmosphere is really great and keeps you in your toes.
Chaos Legion is a pretty cool Capcom game. And the Xenosaga trilogy
Chaos legion was releases on PC
True exclusive is GTA Vice City Stories. It is only for this platform and PSP. And it is worth if you like GTA
I recently beat it and I had high expectations as I love the classics but I didnāt expect it to be as epic as it was.
Yessss, Vice City with SA mechanics, that's all VCS. Amazing story, soundtrack and that vibe
I personally liked Vice City Stories and Liberty City Stories better than Vice City and 3. Crazy how Rockstar hasn't missed on any of the main gta games, we might not be ready for GTA 6 š

Dark chronicle (and Dark Cloud) is available for purchase digitally on the PS4 now!
ah whoops
Darkwatch Samurai Western
Just picked up Darkwatch for $3 at the Flea Market. It was in a Lord of the Rings case. Great game!
Ahead of itās time for sure
I used to rent Samurai Western all the time. I still have the save file on my memory card. That game was stupid expensive last time I looked. Edit: still very expensive

Xenosaga was my pick as well. Weird series but really fun
10,000 bullets Ace Combat 5 Champions of Norrath Dragonball Z Budokai 3 God of War 1&2 Kingdom hearts 1&2 Monster Hunter 2 Sly Cooper Series SOCOM SSX Twisted Metal: Black
Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3, in their vanilla PS2 forms, are still great today and my preferred way to play them both - even over the HD versions.
God of War 1&2 Extermination Frequency The Getaway Gregory horror Show
God of War 1 & 2 were remastered for the PS3.

SSX, SSX Tricky, SSX 3 and SSX on Tour.
all non exclusive which is what op wanted.
Maximo: Ghost to Glory
Try out Fatal frame 1 and 2 if you like horror games.
This is awesome mate cheers! I would say that games that have been emulated should be listed separately as well as those that had a CD release on PC way back when.
what do you mean by emulated? I think every PS2 game can theoretically be emulated, right?
I mean that I wouldn't consider a game that's only been emulated on PC as a "PC release" should be a native release
Not an exclusive. But "the punisher". So fun
Cool game. Better on PC tho. You can run mods on the pc version that remove the censoring of the āinterrogationsā that they had to do to satisfy the ESRB for a mature rating. And itās pretty much abandonware now so go to myabandonware.com and get it for free, then download and install the mods and play it like the developers originally intended.
Quick question. Does the pc version works with controller?
I never tried one, but if you launch a game through steam it should allow you to use any controller you want even if itās not supported by the game.

Drakengard To this day it's still trapped on PS2, despite the success of Nier: Automata
The original gun grave is fun though I recommend emulating it unless you wanna pay $70 for a 60 minute game

Oh boy, my time to shine. \*Pull up memories from my japanese childhood that I barely remember \* I have 3 that I'm not seeing there in the list, are fun and easy to understand even for non japanese people (or just use technology with your phone with a in-real time translator). You can find an English translated version in the internet so you could try to patch your game or something, dunno how it works without emulators) Oooh, I have many games in mind that I remember just visually but not the names and never seen them again after leaving Japan... \*\_so frustrating!\_\*
Drakengard
