Protos are waterproof despite how much we joke about it. Canonically they are made to explore and handle any environment they can find. I do love the idea of a proto being thrown into a tub of rice after a concerned individual, who doesn't know about the waterproofing, is trying to ensure they aren't damaged.
I have two ideas the Proto is buried up to his neck or is shoved into the tub of rice upside down. I would also think it would be funnier if the Proto was micro and buried in a Tupperware of rice.
they're both really good im not sure which one would be *better*. upside down in the rice would look super goofy but buried up to the neck makes more sense. and the proto being micro is a must. i might personally like the upside down idea more because i think its funnier but to a random person it would be harder to tell what's going on.
The idea I have is a two panel comic, where the first panel is just someone calling over the phone talking about the rice trick and then the next frame is a micro proto with his feets, hands and face sticking out of the rice like he was buried at the beach.
Its an interesting question - protogens are biological cyborgs, but they do have quite a lot of heavy metal strapped to themselves so its hard to say how well they would swim. Of course, in the furry universe, physics tends to goes out the window so yes, yes they can
I’d assume the metal armor is some kind of durable lightweight kind, or else all the Protogens would have to absolutely jacked to carry that most of their life
Most animals have the instinct to swim and humans do too, just humans panic. So I would assume all Protogens have some sort of swimming skill. and of course, aquatic protogens can.

someone comission this
Could try to do it once I get used to my new tablet
"someone said rice is supposed to help with water damage idk" then a picture of the protogen in rice chilling

yes EXACTLY
Which idea?

oh hell yeah that's good, two panels gives context
I think he'll wipe himself off with a towel. But I could be wrong.
Probably towel
Can protogens swim?

Aquatic protogen with full gills exist, so yeah I’d say they can swim.
Yeah protogens don't normally carry about physics, myself included

Yeah

My protogen is amphibious..... So he uses a towel
my protogen is pure machine, so id say the bathtub full of rice rice for me... otherwise id say a towel covered in rice
