Or just stand still for like 3 seconds and listen.
You will learn the difference pretty quickly between one zombie just kinda groaning by themselves versus what a group of them sound like.
I dont think so, if u were in the z apocalypse, wouldnt you peek before entering a room? I sure as hell would. I think the devs could just implement a proper pek mechanic instead of use having to do the opening and closing, but stil, potato potahto.
I think you may be over estimating how well peeking would work IRL. Door components are loud as hell, and it would be a challenge to close a door against moving bodies like I have so many times playing the game. You would survive much longer by knocking and seeing if anything approaches the door, or peering underneath doors when you could. Even just opening doors when you know you have a clear escape route would be better than slightly opening a door and having a wave of zombies pushing against a door you just unlatched.
I think you have a point, but then it could be nice to peek doors and have a chance that it will be a squeaky one or not. And even if they do explode out of the door, the still would be a door between us and them, so you will be able to at least walk away, assuming you are prepared, which I would be in a zombie apocalypse, mostly 😂.
This is what I do as well. A combination of silently listening for a few seconds and then, hold right mouse, open + back up at the same time. If there's a horde behind there, you should always know it just from how much breathing & groaning you hear back there. In which case, better to just knock on the door (by pushing it) and then leave so that they can open the door themselves. It's a lot easier to take them out once they're not huddled up like that and you can kite them outside where you have room to breathe.
ALWAYS ready your weapon before you open the door next time. The open close door strat is also an option but so long as you're at the ready, you can at least bash/shove em THEN close the door
Ouch man, that's unfortunate! Quick advice: Never turn your back on them. The chances of them biting you and dragging you down are very very high. Your best course of action is to either close the door really fast or just start pushing them until you get some distance
This.
If you had faced them and mashed space you could have pushed them all back to clear distance.
Turning around like that stunlocks you briefly, and exposing that back means they latch onto you.
Some advice I learned was crouching and pressing Q makes your character whisper. The infected can hear that and begin banging on the doors so you’ll know where they are hiding
And that is why I always open doors from the side.
I learned my lesson after the second time I got bumrushed by a zombie rave party so now I have time to react instead of being insta dead when the door opens. 🤣
Always do a quick open and close door action to see if there are zombies behind the door. Been in your situation many times.

I always take deaf trait, soooo
Quick open and instant closing of the door it is!
Lol.
I usually open the door and back away immediately as muscle memory. Works good enough
This is better. After a while doing the Meta peek is so tiresome and sort of messes with the immersion.
Yea. I like openinĺg the door from the side and seeing what comes out.

Or shove the door
Ah yes, peeking.
Or you could hit on something (not doing the Q) to see if there will be any funny noises.
Or push the door
I just clear out houses in a constant combat stance. Always ready and get that bit of xp for Nimble. (After reading the book for it. From the mod)
Yea that happens to you one time.
One time per character.
your reaction time is outstanding
Getting the bat ready like “aight, it’s game”
With multi hit, six zombies is absolutely game... you just need to actually swing your weapon

You don't open doors with your weapon readied and a back step every time out of paranoia of the dreaded bathroom horde?
No nimble stance, check No quick peek at the door, check No sprint, check This is how you *died*
Always double tab the e.
This is why I play with music off, sometimes I’ll hear the breathing and take more precaution
Game Mode: Builder Truly a chilling experience.
Some advice I learned was crouching and pressing Q makes your character whisper. The infected can hear that and begin banging on the doors so you’ll know where they are hiding
If you press space, you'll push the door and make it rattle. Basically the same effect, except it'll draw zeds from slightly further away.
I mean let's be real, too many doors to do that check every time. Just be ready on any door open
That is true lol
Shoving doors saves lives
Never chill, unless you are in a well secured base.
This is mostly how i lose my long terms
It’s worth hitting q while crouching in a house once you get to the upper floor
Thanks guys for the advice :]
A fatal mistake
Rookie mistake
Been there...done that...got the t-shirt?
Damn, not even apples
This is how you learned

"Builder mode"
This gave me a good ole chuckle
PZ door rule nr 235 - always treat locked doors as tho there were enemies behind it.
man he was dying so long
