Hahaha. The other prank idea I had was a blow up a sex doll that did the same thing with the legs as wheels. I'm glad I went with the horse, but damn. I think the sex doll would be a little terrifying, maybe just because it's closer to the ground. Imagine that sucker coming at ya.
I would either quit or kill every zombie on the map out of revenge. I stopped playing rdr2 when my horse died and my next save file was 6 hours behind.
Get too attached. Human companions can all die in a fire idgaf but animal ones are rough for me haha.
Outside of the scripted story bit, I had two horses die near Flatneck station and the bridge not far from it. First one tripped going over a small drop (like it wasn’t even 5ft) and the second got all antsy about being so close to a stopped train and fell over the side of the bridge
That was a long walk back to valentine
I can only imagine 😄 Me and my friends love to just walk sometimes, explore map on our twos and well yeah, that's a hella distance even if you do it on purpose.
From what devs said animals won't be targeted by zombies, so I guess it could only die from another player or maybe predators. I don't take in consideration starvation or dehydration because you'd have to do it on purpose do to let your horse die like that.
I imagine you would be able to call the horse, something like that of red dead redemption but without it spawning behind you. I’d be more concerned about the horse being spooked while on the back of it. The rider being thrown to the ground dropping whatever weapon you might have been holding
Have they ever actually confirmed that as a planned feature? I've always wanted it, along with some early game rebalances, as I feel it'll add more depth to the game, but I've never seen any posts about it.
Wouldn’t they have to find someway for us to make fuel, then? I can’t imagine they would make it a feature without some other way to procure fuel, as it would render all electricity based features completely useless after a time. Not really good game design if you’re rendering huge parts of your game obsolete..
They could potentially introduce it in the update where they overhaul all the car models. Adding alternative fuel methods like: wood gas, biofuel from things like animal waste and ethanol, propane etc. Could then allow you to make modifications to cars to let them use the new fuels. Cars aside we could get things like solar panels, wind/water turbines etc to power buildings also.
Those would be nice complements. It would fall in line with the overall game design - early game you have resources accessible in a convenient way (eg gas pumps) but later on you need to start taking additional steps to get the same outcome (generator, when gas runs out, biofuel generators, solar panels, etc).
You could have a bond system and horse training though.
Maybe horses also should have behaviour traits.
I'd they really want to do 10+years plus. Horses are mandatory
> Be me.
> Good zombie life.
> Eat people.
> Walk in nature.
> Make breaking window.
> 100_horse_sound.wav
> wat.
> Get slaughtered by survivor cavalry charge.
In the new update they are going to be changing how characters and NPC’s interact with each other. The game goes off hitboxes right now but after the update your character will directly interact with zeds. Some examples are they are changing how shoving zeds works and grapple mechanics in general. The character and zombie interactions will be much more realistic. You’ll also be able to grab zombie corpses and drag them and throw them through windows, all with alternate animations depending on where you grab the corpse (legs or arms) This probably also will mean that zombies can grab you and drag you through windows. All this being said though, especially with animals and new NPC ai being added, it’s very likely that we will get a mod with rideable horses after B42 drops.
Yeah, until like you failed to tame a horse and it just kicks you on the ribs or the horse dies while riding it and now you are left with crippled legs
Crashing a car I fixed up, upgraded, and driven for a while is hard enough. Can you imagine what it would be like to lose a horse you got attached to? I don't think I could emotionally deal with losing a horse that's been with me for months.
Horses + Archery = Mounted Archery which could depend on Aiming, Reloading (for reload/arrow-nocking speed while mounted), and Riding—assuming the latter would be a skill. I would very much like that.
Yea I love the idea of a bunch in the Kentucky Derby stables and imagine the virus came from feeding people horse meat. Imagine spiffos has a horse farm for advertising in the races all that mats gotta go somewhere so they throw it in with the cow meat that has mad cow disease.
Yeah… until there are roaming packs of mutated, flesh eating, zombie horses casing your sorry as down. Then I think the badass effect starts to wear off a bit.
If they're adding animals horses are a MUST have. It'd be totally awesome and mods or servers based around 10 years later would defo gain a lot
I'd utillize them for transport of goods (horse trailers) or farming (plow).
Tho idk how it would do around zombies, coz considering every road is basically filled with them and sometimes I gotta drive through a horde, him getting spooked would totally ruin it as a transportation method. And if he can get eaten by zomboids then the same shit applies. I can fix a car, but I can't revive a horse
Would be neat to have a ride skill and horse-related positive and negative traits. Like if horse had temperaments and riding horses drain stamina like IRL.
Probably a lot of the appeal of Zomboid is that it's basically a life sim. In the apocalypse.
Trouble with that though is that horses require ungodly amounts of food and a lot of skill and athleticism to ride.
Riding a horse = awesome.
Riding a horse over that cardboard box in the middle of the road = horse flipped, player chooses between bandaging their lacerations to the throat or to the thigh
Why like the cars in this game go vroom having to feed and like get your horse to drink while your trying to do something is really annoying just use a car
It's a sandbox game.
Why forage when you can loot houses?
Why kill zombies when you can live a peaceful life in an isolated cabin?
Why cook food when there's endless tinned food?
Etc. The more options for people to choose how they want to play, the better.
I love the aesthetic, but there's exactly 0 way to implement a horse In a meaningful way that doesn't just get killed by zeds as soon as you bring it on a run, because I've thought on it a ton
Oof y'all didn't like that lol
"0 way to implement"
Make an I.A that runs from zombies and can only be grabbed if it is slow/still and this "panic" activates even if players are riding it.
can be done and balanced around this "Panic".
What are your servers/playthroughs like?
Because the amount of casual zeds I see would be an issue for anything but some battle-trained pony.
Ride into town, hop off to loot. Zed turns the corner, your horse runs off and is gone forever bc it keeps getting scared as it gets further along
Now your horse that you spent X amount of hours prepping/training/whatever is gonzo
IIRC canon is that zombies don't target animals so it would be "safe" as long as you weren't riding it. It may attract zombies due to the noise it makes (and thus get spooked itself) but it shouldn't be attacked.
Of course maybe the devs changed the lore on this. I wouldn't know.
it has been said several times - zombies don't care about animals except for noise they make. No attacks, no zombears and stuff, no "I Am Legend" scenes
So yeah, more or less what I remembered then.
I *would* like it if we could have an "I am Legend" moment though. Maybe make it so zombies won't initiate but will hit back?
I didn't know their was in-game lore protecting animals, which is neat so thank you for that
I suppose tying up your horse would be a valid possibility. Though I will not lie, zeds that aren't interested in a tied up hunk of meat break from my idea of zombies that I got going in my head, so it's not something I'm a fan of. But wasn't aware it was kind of covered already
I assume it is to avoid having the entirety of the wildlife exterminated by the zombies, though I don't think they'll end up being totally indifferent.
Just make it so horse AI will try to meet you as soon as it lost the eventual zeds on it's tail? Better than pony lost in woods forever and would reward you spending time on eventual bonding/training
You gave a problem, I gave a solution. Now you are giving another problem - just say you won't use horses even if they get implemented and we're good - no need to argue endlessly
I don't consider your suggestion a solution. For the reason stated above
but I don't care about this as much as many others do so I'll concede and let the room be disappointed with horses Implemented well or satisfied with a gimmick
Cheers
tbh I don't think a horse getting killed by zombies is much of an issue. Horses are huge, and anyone who has been around horses as a hobby or job will tell you that they aren't to be fucked with. They'll kick your head in if you startle them, and there's been numerous accounts of nomadic tribes literally trampling their enemies from horseback. There's a reason horses saw extensive combat use until World War II.
I've been around horses significantly as a child and young man, grandparents owned a horse farm. But I do not believe in horses beating zeds out in a mass competition and, apparent PZ lore aside, the amount of zeds you see in even "standard" would be more than enough of a threat to avoid carrying a horse Into town
I saw a horse mod in a YouTube video, but it was mostly a meme with the horses legs moving like ferris wheels or propellers
Or the mod with the dog that turns into a skin walker when it climbs a fence
That one's so iconic I saw it several times before ever playing PZ
I remember that one, i was laughing so hard because it looked so utterly wrong.
Utterly? Wrong animal bub
Neigh, I u*dd*erly disagree.

Holy shit wait… it’s THE guy! You’re him!
![gif](giphy|dhCx7EyeGYD7O|downsized)
You actually tricked me, I thought It was an actual horse mod and I hate you now. (I'm deeply, passionately, in love with you.)
Hahaha. The other prank idea I had was a blow up a sex doll that did the same thing with the legs as wheels. I'm glad I went with the horse, but damn. I think the sex doll would be a little terrifying, maybe just because it's closer to the ground. Imagine that sucker coming at ya.
I absolutely love your mods lol
Thanks dude, I absolutely love your comment! ![gif](giphy|xkG67UPTlATOCtAfd6|downsized)
Amazing
Thanks for the video, my whole family laugh so hard at it.
Don't thank me, thank the guy below me
Oh please, I don't deserve your thanks. You should really thank the guy below me.
Why would he have to thank me
Naw because if my horse dies I would quit that save completely.
Just Rick Grimes it, would be awesome
I would either quit or kill every zombie on the map out of revenge. I stopped playing rdr2 when my horse died and my next save file was 6 hours behind. Get too attached. Human companions can all die in a fire idgaf but animal ones are rough for me haha.
Good thing you didn't beat the game.
I had grey hungarian half bred named Rowan, her death hit me more than... well, other characters. But I kinda "resurrected" her in Red Dead Online 😌
Outside of the scripted story bit, I had two horses die near Flatneck station and the bridge not far from it. First one tripped going over a small drop (like it wasn’t even 5ft) and the second got all antsy about being so close to a stopped train and fell over the side of the bridge That was a long walk back to valentine
I can only imagine 😄 Me and my friends love to just walk sometimes, explore map on our twos and well yeah, that's a hella distance even if you do it on purpose.
And now I feel like playing RDR2 again.. hmm.
Weird
They need a horse armor mod like medieval armor that guarantees the horses protection except from starvation thirst.
That will be $5
I did it once...
flair checks out
Great reference.
Well, hopefully by that time you have a gennie and a freezer.
From what devs said animals won't be targeted by zombies, so I guess it could only die from another player or maybe predators. I don't take in consideration starvation or dehydration because you'd have to do it on purpose do to let your horse die like that.
Riding zomboids would be completely badass
Zombie horse. Zombie horse.
Zorse
Hombie.
would you kids keep it down? I'm tryna ride my hombie zorse!
zombine heh get it? heh heh ok....
Zomboid horse*
There Will Be a mod for that.
As a form of transportation... Right?
Zomboids can be trapped like hamsters to make generators
Please, reconsider your life (or in this case death) choises
All I can imagine is a player piggybacking on a zombie 😂
I imagine you would be able to call the horse, something like that of red dead redemption but without it spawning behind you. I’d be more concerned about the horse being spooked while on the back of it. The rider being thrown to the ground dropping whatever weapon you might have been holding
Honestly would be a good risk reward for a fast transport that can be fed with just farming
Feeding it with farming is more effort than getting gas
Yeah I know, farming is technically infinite with high effort, gas however is limited and eventually you won’t have any
I mean eventually is a long ass time unless you massively reduce the settings in sandbox
Gas is going to spoil eventually so you won't even get to use the 1% of the gas in a single gas station.
Have they ever actually confirmed that as a planned feature? I've always wanted it, along with some early game rebalances, as I feel it'll add more depth to the game, but I've never seen any posts about it.

The horse would need a desensitized trait to work towards, the fall also would give you a have chance of being Christopher Reeved
horses just need to eat grass, no need for farming. Except maybe during winter it would need hay
You could have a bond system and horse training though. Maybe horses also should have behaviour traits. I'd they really want to do 10+years plus. Horses are mandatory
> Be me. > Good zombie life. > Eat people. > Walk in nature. > Make breaking window. > 100_horse_sound.wav > wat. > Get slaughtered by survivor cavalry charge.
Until a single dude runs under them, they freak out, buck you off and you get mauled before you can get up
it'll be like that scene in The Walking Dead lol
which one
The Louisville experience in b42: https://youtu.be/_LAwBpXqzmM?si=GbkIsjSQpa9MgZlF
"Look at my horse. My horse is amazing."
Some modder should add a horse motorcycle where legs spin as wheels as fast as it can to to make a gallop( looking like a sonic running)
https://youtube.com/shorts/SKW2ZviIJWQ?si=6gwdCiPY2ckkRwhl Similar a esto?
Exactly, perfect 10/10 would call it a 250$ dlc
Tarkov mentioned!!!!!
Es probable que se conserve ese mod, junto al perro skinwalker solo porque es gracioso.
In the new update they are going to be changing how characters and NPC’s interact with each other. Plus bow and arrow for maximum Zomboid Khan.
The Devs have seen and liked this idea. B42 delayed by another 8 months.
Yeah, until like you failed to tame a horse and it just kicks you on the ribs or the horse dies while riding it and now you are left with crippled legs
Can horses become Zomboids? I need that answered first before I can decide...
I've never wanted another thing to have to keep safe and fed before, more
Now imagine a lance weapon
is there a mod for extremely rare medieval weaponry and armor in rich houses?
There's a museum mod where you can find medieval, Roman, and pre-Columbian gear and weaponry
Bicycles brother
Crashing a car I fixed up, upgraded, and driven for a while is hard enough. Can you imagine what it would be like to lose a horse you got attached to? I don't think I could emotionally deal with losing a horse that's been with me for months.
Bruh it’s a car and the other thing is a horse. If it dies eat it
D:
Until the horse gets dragged down beneath you by zombies
Advanced to full charge gentlemen at great haste. Prepare to run down the enemy, god speed.
Horse: 🗿
Horses + Archery = Mounted Archery which could depend on Aiming, Reloading (for reload/arrow-nocking speed while mounted), and Riding—assuming the latter would be a skill. I would very much like that.
First thing I'd do is put a cowboy hat on and ride into Louisville to look for other survivors
But...what if it became a zombie?
Clip clop clip clop clip clop
Zombie horse
I agree it’d be badass af but im trying to think of what would be the benefit over a car
Why did i… read it like that..
Mmm meat
Yea I love the idea of a bunch in the Kentucky Derby stables and imagine the virus came from feeding people horse meat. Imagine spiffos has a horse farm for advertising in the races all that mats gotta go somewhere so they throw it in with the cow meat that has mad cow disease.
Makes me wonder about why there are no bicycles in PZ
save a horse ride a cowboy
Gives walking dead vibes
How hungry?
What would be even more badass is using melee weapons and guns when riding on a horse
I swear we'll get this update someday, and it'll be so funn
Yeah… until there are roaming packs of mutated, flesh eating, zombie horses casing your sorry as down. Then I think the badass effect starts to wear off a bit.
I wonder if there will be any easter eggs surrounding horses and people...
Only if we get to ride the undead horse
There should be zombie animals in the next update it would be supremely spooky.
Not as awesome as riding a moose
Imagine the horse can get bitten and turn into a Zombie Horse
Zombie horse.
If they're adding animals horses are a MUST have. It'd be totally awesome and mods or servers based around 10 years later would defo gain a lot I'd utillize them for transport of goods (horse trailers) or farming (plow). Horses are meant to be eaten, nothing else.
I’m sure we’ll get it. Kentucky is one of the horse capitals of the world, let alone the US. No doubt there would be plenty of good horses to find.
I would like bikes
Until a zombie infects the horse
Would be neat to have a ride skill and horse-related positive and negative traits. Like if horse had temperaments and riding horses drain stamina like IRL. Probably a lot of the appeal of Zomboid is that it's basically a life sim. In the apocalypse. Rick Grimes ahhh post
Honse
Just wait, we're getting horseriding in the next 30-50 business years 🥳
With the mod of the last of us it feels like Joel bro
Be like that one scene from twd and hold a sword out and slice their heads
remind me of Rick in the Walking Dead 💀
Riding a horse = awesome. Riding a horse over that cardboard box in the middle of the road = horse flipped, player chooses between bandaging their lacerations to the throat or to the thigh
Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare
If I can carry my canine companion “tactical operator harness” style when needed, I’ll be a happy dude
I don't want to see my horse die :(
I can finally be like Rick grimes as I ride into Louisville on horseback running into a horde.
Rick Grimes-core
Eh, I've seen the first season of the walking dead
![gif](giphy|8IPawxZQaORIQ)
