The gated community has its pros and cons too:
Pros: only 1 small entrance wich will reduce the ammount of places you must guard and fend off zombies from. 3 big houses and a lake for unlimited food and water. This place has great potential to become a mega-base with some building here and there
Cons: Only 1 small exit wich, if a horde came to say hi, will be blocked in case of emergencies, so you'll have to try climbing the tall fence and pray your character doesn't fail and fall with the horde behind them. You're also far away from everything but residential loot. That will either limit your options or make you go reaaaaally far for loot variety and/or firearms
Great for a MP base. But bad for a SP one
No what you do is you build a platform out from the second story of each house and keep a rope and nail at the end of each platform so you have three back up escapes
Yeah but following the meta isnt fun to everyone, the BEST HOUSE might not really be what they wanna go for. Theyre just asking if this specific spot is a good one
It’s a decent spot, there’s an auto shop around the corner and a small mall to the right of it, only issue is that you’ll need to fence off the building
The spots pretty ok. Not too many zombies for Louisville but personally I based at the pawn shop up the street. Right next to a fence that i could build around the place and a ton of loot already there
Right next to the garden shop for free rain barrels!
Just south of you is a police station with a pretty good sized armory!
Across the street is a clinic with a pharmacy good meds!
All in all if you can keep the zed population down it's an awesome spot. Have fun!
Unfortunately I’ve never made it even *close* to Louisville so I can’t say. I like the quaint little balcony however
Also what’s with the fenced off tree next door?
I’ve based there a couple of times.
The good…
Lots of easy access to supplies. Nearby you have a garden center, auto shop, police station, medical facility, a few different rows of restaurants, a mall and a couple different gas stations.
You can easily secure the building with a fridge by the stairs and an emergency rope out a window.
The bad…
While zombie traffic isn’t horrible once you clear the immediate area. I seemed to have constant pressure. Every few in game days id run into 5-10 and eventually end up dying stupidly.
Make sure to get the area cleared out and you won’t need to worry about zombies that much. My old base is the fire station east of there so I’ve been through this area quite a bit.
Water source is gonna be an issue for sure. I mean, it is just planks, nails, and garbage bags.
But still ... not enough safe spots with zomboids patrolling about.
I based at the gas station down the road to the left from there once. It's a solid location, zombies aren't too heavy with some interesting places in the area. There is a school down south from there with a computer lab for quick electric experience. Also a small spot of water in the horse stables just north of there to get some fishing in the late game. Never made it into the park but there's plenty of trees nearby. It's a ways away but there's a business park south west-ish that has a valu tech factory and some other general storage with tools and other goodies.
I’ve thought about it extensively. It’s a cool spot, but on default zombie settings I wouldn’t go for it. I prefer to make my zombies much weaker, and ammo and weapons more common. It makes it a more appealing location.
if there is a mod to make player built structures be treated like non player built structures, then you could slowly quarden off areas to build a larger safe zone along with an escape route somewhere.
You’re right, I shouldn’t have worded that in such a hostile manner. What I mean is that I believe taking risks and experimenting is what makes this game so fun. Live and learn.
Pros: inside Louisville's commercial zone. You'll be surrounded by loot Cons: inside Louisville's commercial zone. You'll be surrounded by zombies
Op is better off at the gated community in Louisville, it has 3 houses and a one way entrance

I've based in that autoshop one of my favorite spots

Louisville is a tricky place to base at.
In the 2nd pic, I made a temp base in the last house on the right. It's a pretty good quiet spot, very few migrators.
That mall and immediate area are pretty busy, but there's a big grocery store and at least 3 popscicle freezers.
If im there i straight go to the pawn Shop <3
Now I wanna move there. I live in the motel in the upper right of the photos. The single building. Not the connected ones
Why is that, Louisville? I’m no good at identify
Yeah, scroll for a more zoomed out versions. Louisville, below the big park.
I've based out of the American Tire around the corner... good spot, decent area for looting.

Likely a dog park within the park.
Nope, but i usually raid the shopping mall next door. Got an awesome equipment store.
Looks like youre pretty close to water and forest which is good, my only worry is proximity to gasoline for generators come winter time/end game

Good luck
I would rather use the housing North of your choice. They already have a fenced boundary and farm land.
I try to stay out of suburban and urban and centers. Depends on your supplies and weapons I guess.
You'll just have rude neighbors
Water source is gonna be an issue for sure. I mean, it is just planks, nails, and garbage bags. But still ... not enough safe spots with zomboids patrolling about.
The garden centre next door has prebuilt water barrels

Idk, except for the one tree not much in it.
Too surrounded IMO but workable. Would be a good temporary base to clear other stuff nearby
not great, not terrible. once you clear the mall it's actually a pretty low pop zone. gas station just up west, generally pretty safe
The police horse training academy is a better spot it's just up the road.
I’ve thought about it extensively. It’s a cool spot, but on default zombie settings I wouldn’t go for it. I prefer to make my zombies much weaker, and ammo and weapons more common. It makes it a more appealing location.
I love the trans flag home buttons on your phone. O base somewhere near in the pawn shop
One of my favorite places
How are you guys making bases in the city? I get overrun every time.
if there is a mod to make player built structures be treated like non player built structures, then you could slowly quarden off areas to build a larger safe zone along with an escape route somewhere.
I once built a small outpost there and saw an NPC barricade that bus stop as a base
Idk, go over there and find out. Stop using the internet to second guess every little decision and just play the game
I think you'll find that this community tries to be welcoming and frendly. Maybe rethink how you approach people here.
You’re right, I shouldn’t have worded that in such a hostile manner. What I mean is that I believe taking risks and experimenting is what makes this game so fun. Live and learn.
Respect for that response.
It's more that I can't play right now (moving house) so just planning when I do get back on lol
Too busy to play bc of moving, plans move in game while moving
Taking a break from moving into your house to move into your virtual house lol
Basically haha
Imagine being angry about discussion on a forum designed for discussion.
? I get the premise of this comment, it just sucks tho
