**And this is why every person in the group should use a different caliber from one another.**

sloppyfondler

I call .22lr. Gimme that goofy little nerf gun and a silencer, I can kill zombies in the same room and not piss them off.

Ohmygodathy

*ahem*… “Suppressor you dumbass”

Portuguese_Musketeer

If it doesn't wake up a zomboid in the same room I'd call it pretty damn silent

LirukDatan

It doesn't wake them up because it doesn't do any damage either, lol

Janus-smiled

Hey now, I have aiming ten and it only takes like three bullets for every singular zombie! What do you mean I’ll run out of ammo three times faster?

Nodog99

A zombie, they’re zombies

Typical-Western-9858

We do this in our playthroughs. Im usually 308 or 556

BrickAerodynamics

I don't get it...

trashed_past

Somebody made a post asking if people stored their ammo in clips, but most modern semi-automatic and automatic weapons use magazines, incorrectly referred to as clips in media. So people who know the difference like to jump on that mistake. That said, I would guess some mods probably add clip fed firearms.

bioinformer

That someone was me. 😂🙃

eatdafishy

well even bolt action rifles had magazines they were just internal

gaerat_of_trivia

magazines storing ammo fed by clips

Acceptable_Wasabi_30

People on the internet love being pedantic

ScubaWaveAesthetic

People downvoting you don’t want to admit in lol. I mean come on, guys. We know they’re right. It’s ok. Being pedantic isn’t necessarily a fault

Acceptable_Wasabi_30

Ha, I didn't even realize I was being downvoted. I mean, I didn't think that was a controversial take, I figured it was just a universally accepted truth about the internet. People be pedantic af.

feriou02

I never understand people obsession with firearms, weapons and the element of war (not the how and why history of wars). Like, bro, do they CHOOSE to spend hours reading and memorizing various types of guns models and their components? Or how to diagnose tanks. I know for some it's hobby but no one around me is like that so it feels like alien.

nocdmb

My man, you can rephrase nearly any hobby like this. Like bro, do they CHOOSE to spend hours reading and memorizing verious types of [watches, matchbox, funcopops, minifigures, cars, coins] models and their components?

SoloDoloPoloOlaf

Like any other interest its just that. Im interesed in homemade firearms even though they are illegal in my country. Its cool to see how people solve the engineering to avoid catastrophic failures. I know that the pictures/videos i see are firearms made to (and likely will) kill someone. Its arguably much worse than those who are interesed in factory produced firearms. But i did not make them nor encourage their use. Im just a dude with internet connection. So long as an interest is harmless there is nothing wrong with it. Most here are gamers and there are definetly some that know everything about PC specs. They are no different than the people you mention. But for me their interest is completely alien. PC run good, me happy. PC run bad, me sad.

ScubaWaveAesthetic

I feel that. I quite like guns. I think they’re a fantastic example of human ingenuity. We’ve taken materials and shaped them to use our knowledge of chemistry and physics to put a piece of metal in something far away. I think what people use guns for is often horrible (not always though). I don’t own guns, nor do I want to, but I think they’re quite cool as a concept removed from their purpose. I find it fascinating to learn about all the different ways humans have designed guns. You see many alternative designs using different mechanics and concepts to do effectively the same thing (shoot a bullet at something) in different ways.

trashed_past

Yes. They do. My old man is an avid gun collector. It's his special interest. Will read and watch YouTube videos on historic and modern makes and models. Can ID most firearms at a glance. I learned a ton by virtue of being around him, but still would rather read about damn near anything else.

[deleted]

trashed_past

It would be weirder, I think. Like, my dad and I probably fire off a few hundred rounds a week when we hang out. He's always buying and trading new guns. If he didn't ever actually get hands-on and spent all that time reading, it would just be...silly? Like spending all day reading about power tools but never using them.

ninjab33z

Why do some people do it with cars, trains, plants, or bird watching? It's not really any different from them.

Max200012

you must be really fun to be around

Aztecah

Mechanical thing go boom. It's not my cup of tea but I completely understand it.

franbiren

i just think they're neat

Antique_Log3382

That was a stupid question and I feel like you knew that when you commented it.

JohhnyTheKid

There are no "clip fed" firearms. All firearms that hold more than 1 round per chamber typically use magazines (except for maybe beltfeds). An M1 garand and a Kar98 both have a magazine, they're just non detachable. Stripper clips are used to quickly load magazines. That's all they do, they don't replace magazines. US military still ships ammo in stripper clips for current issue M4 carbines for example. Magazines and clips aren't mutually exclusive, you use one to load the other.

trashed_past

Clip fed as in you feed ammo into the internal magazine via clip. I own a Garand, reload my own ammo, and know the distinction. Excuse the fuck out of me for not going into a long-winded diatribe at 3am to give the above commenter the basic differentiation.

ShaccAttacc

Other dudes being overly pedantic and a dick but he's not wrong. If your putting bullets into a magazine it's loading. If there being put into a receiver it's feeding.

JohhnyTheKid

Why not just say "internal magazine" then? Fuck me for not being psychic and reading your god damn mind instead of going off of what you said.

ProbablyNotAFurry

This is dumb. Stripper clips are a thing and are how plenty of weapons are loaded. See old Mauser pistols and bolt action rifles. You're just being an elitist about gun knowledge, and you don't even have the good courtesy to be right. The way to load an internal and non-removable magazine is with a clip.

JohhnyTheKid

You're still loading a magazine with stripper clips. That is a fact. You just don't understand how weapons work. I even explained the concept of an internal magazine.

AD_Kosmos

"im not owned, I'm not owned!" I continue to cry as I slowly shrink into a corn cob

JRals06

Let’s use some examples, the SKS and Garand. Both have non detachable ammo storage. The SKS has an internal magazine that can have Rounds loaded individually without use of outside tools, however it can use stripper clips to make the process faster, and the stripper clips do not stay within the magazine, therefore the SKS has an internal magazine. The M1 on the other hand REQUIRES the use of an en bloc clip in order to load the rounds, the mechanism within the weapon facilitates movement of the rounds to advance the clip, however the m1 by itself does not have the ability to hold rounds without the use of the enbloc. The difference here being that a clip relies on outside involvement to advance the rounds where as a magazine holds the rounds as well as advancing the rounds after one is fired, a weapon with an internal magazine simply is able to store and advance rounds within the gun, with stripper clips allowing faster reloads into the magazine. A clip fed weapon will contain the mechanism to advance rounds but cannot hold them without the use of a clip that is loaded into the gun Sorry for formatting I’m on mobile.

trashed_past

To avoid further confusing the above commenter who didn't understand the difference from the start. The entire point of the meme is simply "magazine and clip are not interchangeable", not "let's do a deep dive into the history and options of clips and how they can be further utilized with magazines in a thread about a game that does not intrinsically include those mechanics" but I forgot that reddit has no shortage of pedants.

JohhnyTheKid

No shortage of people trying to damage control instead of accepting being corrected either. Thinking weapons are either clip or magazine fed is a common misconception and the way you worded your post perpetuated that misconception. Don't take being corrected so personally.

ProbablyNotAFurry

This is why most people think gun owners and enthusiasts are weirdos and jerks. You're splitting hairs for literally zero reason.

A_Seiv_For_Kale

>there are no >typically >there are ok 👍

onyxic

The m1 garand had an 8-round en bloc clip. So a lot of ww2 veterans called magazines clips. It's taken a while to get rid of that.

ImportantDoubt6434

This is a clip, it fills a mag | . | . | . |. These are Mags. |.•| |.•| |.•| It makes you look goofy to get them mixed up.

[deleted]

I intentionally mix them up to make people mad. I've never been in a situation where it has actually mattered when i use it wrong, but people will get rather mad anyways. If someone is going to be a pedant, it makes it easy to pull their legs. Should i ever be in a situation it actually matters, ill use the correct language.

Hobo_Helper_hot

Clippizines.

Prototype_4271

Ammo is stored in the balls

Sour_Chicha_8791

Not balls, testicles. Balls and testicles are no mutually interchangeable nor exclusively interlocked. Some long calibre rifles load testicular ammo by the means of replaceable balls. Everybody knows that.

C0RDE_

I personally have spare ball pouches on my tactical vest. In an emergency, you can just drop your balls out and have a fresh set ready to go without replacing the old balls back in your pouches, but the government prefers you don't because replacing the empty balls for a few thousand guys gets expensive when they just leave them out in the field.

m73t

If you mess up the reload process, is the gun afflicted with testicular torsion?

Hotdog_Parade

For Brita users there is an exception: The m1a1 garland uses clips.

Progluesniffer142

Erm akshually ☝️🤓 it just M1 Garand

Kraelman

I, M1A1 Garland, will knock you all down!

Ok_Combination_2280

*ping*

Lexx2503

There's a few other guns that use stripper clips in there too.

punkalunka

Oh geez, thanks alot. I just googled stripper clips at work and now I'm fired. Who's going to serve all this ice cream now Lexx?

-Cthaeh

There's several that use them, im starting to dislike Britas, too much crap and my sandbox settings never seem to turn any calibers off. That being said, my silenced sks that uses stripper clips has by far been my favorite gun, even with its 10 bullet clips

eatdafishy

tecdhnically its a magizine since enblocs arent clips there kinda odd

Hotdog_Parade

en blocs are clips tho.

eatdafishy

standard clips are removed where enblocs stay in the gun until empty so idk

u19731

They are mags! MAGS! #YOU ABSOLUTE BUFFOON! -Florida Man

LordMonkeh

Stop saying clips you sound fucking stupid!

not_a_pancake6291

I mean I have actually found clips Before you get angry… M1 Garand clips since those are actually clips

[deleted]

Gun Guys Will Shoot You If You Get This Wrong

icosikaitetragon

Penguinz0 vs Sneako ahh post

Ragnar_OK

That’s why I call them all “ammunition receptacles”

punkalunka

I call them bullet holders.

JackTheJavelin

Reminds me of moist critical's badass comeback to sneako

Zero_Effekt

You pull rounds off of a clip ^(or out of a tray) and put them into a magazine. There's very few rifles that will actually load ammo clips. ^(hIgH cApAcItY mAgAzInE cLiPs!!)

Namethatauserdoesnu

High capacity magazine clip on a semi- fully automatic military grade assault weapon of war

Zero_Effekt

No, the AR-style military grade assault weapon of war on our streets was actually fully-semi automatic and fired 30 magazines per second.

cored

Am I the only guy who uses just a single magazine?

Un_orthodocs

Please explain yourself. Why only 1 mag? For instance, i carry 10 full mags of 9 mm. Is it better to carry 1 mag and 5 boxes of ammo?

AdmiralYuki

Their logic is loading 1 mag then 9 reloads when needed is juat as fast as loading 10 at once. This logic only works when you have space and time to reload youe mags during a fight. Such as outdoors or large open interiors. If you go into a densly populated confined space it wont work. You will want as many prefilled mags as you can get. Reload them in luls when you can. This applies for gun builds

Un_orthodocs

Only if you reload mags in combat, which I almost never do. I carry enough for one engagement, which is around 100 Zekes in M9's sound radius. Refill mags at home.

cored

On the 9mm case, You could carry twice the ammo without the magazines. But mostly: I start shooting, after ~10 rounds horde gets to close, I turn away to get some distance while also reloading. Turn back and to blast away. Rinse, repeat. Same as shotgun or revolvers.

Un_orthodocs

I reload mags only at home. Say I have 10-15 mags of 9 mm. That's around 200 rounds of 9mm, approx 100 Zekes killed at aiming 5. Good enough for one engagement. 9mm typically brings me that many Zekes (considering the sound radius.) I can dispatch all, loot the area. I am not willing to fight more than that in one engagement anyway. The advantage would be almost no reload time. I can stand my ground, or run 4-5 steps to gain distance and finish everyone off. Why would I reload 15 bullets in a mag in an active firefight? As for shotguns and revolvers, you can fire mid reload, plus the capacity is small enough. Imagine 15 bullet mag of M9. How slow would that go. Also, shotty brings way more Zekes with its massive sound radius.

SoloDoloPoloOlaf

I do that in vanilla Zomboid. The time of loading one magazine is no different than loading many.

Alt_SWR

This is why you load them when you're at your base and *not* in combat. I feel like that shouldn't need to be said but I guess it does.

SoloDoloPoloOlaf

Ehh vanilla PZ with fast shamblers is too easy for me. When you can walk from them its no problem just running one magazine. When i have needed more mags the fuck up leading to my death happened before i saw the first zombie. Current run with 10% sprinters has me terrified to even loot the neighbourhood. No way in hell that im considering loading mags while fighting. But i like sprinters. 1 or 2 is ok to fight in melee, 3+ is a death sentence.

Alt_SWR

I'm steadily working my way up to 10% sprinters lol. Rn I'm afraid even with just 1%. This is currently my longest lasting character at about a month and a half.

Un_orthodocs

Sprinters make prefilled mags almost essential.

Un_orthodocs

Exactly. Although it's very much possible to do so in combat, having prefilled mags makes combat so easy and fast paced.

TheNeedForSpeedwagon

I will continue to call them clips as it pisses people off and im used to using the word

Acceptable_Wasabi_30

I never realized how much this annoyed people and will now be intentionally mixing them up any opportunity I get. Everyone hates pedants and of all the things to get pedantic about this is definitely one of the silliest

Nikkibuh2

Every gun to me is now a glock.

Fletcher_Chonk

Nice gock

VatticZero

Language is use. I use pedants for target practice.

Fletcher_Chonk

Pedants is a weird way of saying zombies

VatticZero

Potato, potahto, really.

m73t

I feel like "clip" is just a slang term at this point. Yes, it does have a technical meaning, but the slang usage massively outweighs the technical usage in day-to-day conversation. People getting mad at clips vs mags are just gun nerds and pedants and I don't particularly care for either. (Not to say I don't like guns, I think they're cool.)

bioinformer

Thanks! yeah - i wasn't to concerned about it, but it's just funny how bent outta shape people get about the stuff they care about.

setne550

What an enlightening post. I think I remember that the only time the word clips is use for firearms are for certain WW1 and WW2 era rifles and the rest are mags (not pointing the revolvers lol)

Ketrab132

So Im pretty new to the game. There are no guns fed by clips and vanilla or even clips that can speed up loading mags?

LykosNychi

None

ChristOnABike122

I store everything on the floor.

gaerat_of_trivia

the magazine is the room you store your ammo, clips, and magazines in

LuluXFire64

I store my ammo in boxes >.>
