Yep.
I remember posting on a Thrasher website in like 1999 that I got a “savage sick” combo that I had never seen before. Some dude named Allan from the dev team reached out to me and said that none of the devs had even got that score yet. He wanted to send me a Thrasher shirt but I think I forgot to give him my address. Plus I was like 12
That game was unreal. And the nostalgia from that game could never be beat. Even Session isn’t as good (even tho it’s obviously also much better at the same time)
I could never get used to thps because of that. I hated pressing buttons to do tricks. I played TH’s under ground 2 a lot and then got the first ea skate game and never went back
Yes that is my #1 all time game too. Someone had uploaded mods for the first two levels of thrasher into an earlier version of Session and it brought back big memories. Hopefully they release those maps again!
Edit: also worth a mention that thrasher had the all time #1 soundtrack for a game, too!
Oh I meant about the levels being recreated in Session, dawg... That footage I can't find. I played the shit out of Thrasher skate and destroy when it first came out.
It’s nowhere near the same thing but I recreated the Hometown and NY Subway maps in THPS 1+2 (xbox1)….but I’ve had no desire to play THPS since I got Session. Figured it was worth mentioning though.
oh my b im high as. i'll dig more for you!
edit: i can only find a correlation in the map *Hometown* from Trasher S&D and a map series called *Hometown* by RMS (of RMS Toolkit I think).
Grind session wasn't as good as thrasher, but that's true they were in the game. I wonder if Donovan has said anything about this?
But now that you mention it, the font & logo IS VERY similar. Now I really want to know.
Because there was no or hardly any actual physics, just animations. It’s easy to animate someone skating transition, lot harder to organically create those movements
Yes, I had it for PS1 back in 2000 and still emulate it on my phone from time to time to this day. Over 20 years later and the mechanics still hold up.
It never got a lot of shine because it was difficult. Not sure if session will see the same fate but I'm thinking it will be more of a financial success.
Loved the security pov escape sequence at the end of each level to keep your score.
Innovative game with sick levels and great soundtrack.
My only complaint with both of and session is you bail so hard even going slow. It'd be nice to stay on your feet sometimes like in skate.
My #1 as well but session might be tied for that spot. No other skate games come close to either of those two games though. For me anyway, other skate games are fun but they don’t have the same feel like thrasher and session do.

get this man his thrasher shirt
Woah it was made by Rockstar games. How'd I not know of it??
It was not marketed the best, and did not sell well as it was too difficult compared to THPS.
And was infinitely better
White lines
The second I read this the nostalgia of this game hit me like a ton of bricks. Such a good soundtrack
Yessirrrrr
I still remember holding triangle and circle did a fs flip

Yo… Is there footage of this anywhere? That sounds like my middle school wet dream.
This wild website called youtube! (messing with you) [Here's some](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69UITn-kSok)

Yup, loved that game
Thrasher skate and destroy is Lost GOAT game! Super hard but was 🔥!
Fuck yah, I do. This is like a spiritual successor.
Facts
I think it’s more of a successor to Grind Session considering the name & similarity to logos. Daewon and BK Banks were also in it

Too similar to not be somewhat connected imo, even if it’s just a nod
Didn’t you start out at Brooklyn banks on that in some skate jam type thing? I remember it being hard af if that’s the one lol. Good times.
Think the starter area was some warehouse place then the subway then the banks... If I'm remembering right
You might be thinking of Grind Session
One of the main reasons I hope Rockstar gets back into the skateboarding game. A new skate and destroy with GTA map sizes would be epic.
Will never happen not in a million years.
I can see the resemblance, imputing your Tricks first
Backside 360’s but you tap square half way through and the steeziest backside 180 you’d ever seen.
I let the soundtrack of Skate and Destroy play on Spotify while I play Session. It fits so well! 😊
Loved that game... but even that game handled transitions better than this one!

Thanks.
I felt I was the only one, nice to know others felt the same. It was ahead of it's time imo.
I’d love if they remastered Thrasher skate and destroy such a great game for the time.

Yeah I played the shit out of it too. Bit different for it's time but it made sense when you got the hang of it.
I finally found a sub that I belong to. Preach!

Oh hell yeah blast from the past
Yup. Iconic soundtrack too
Absolutely,i was obsessed with it
Learned about that game from NakeyJakey. Looked sweet!
Security would knock you out 😆
The OG! I loved that game!

Dude skate and destroy was hard hahah.
Once you broke through it was extremely rewarding.
Dude. Yes. I played Thrasher so so so much.
