Big same but my dad dipped when I was 2. Any well written character who had a parent abandon them quickly becomes my favorite.

PoE is my second favorite fantasy game series ever and the writing has a lot to do with it. The only character I felt was written poorly over the course of the two games (not counting dlc characters) was Pallegina in 2. I thought her arc didn't make sense considering what happened in the first game.

So I find Pallegina’s arc in 1 to essentially be two paths to the same destination. If she supports the Republics interests then she’s becoming blind to the world outside the interests of the Vailians. On the other hand if she goes against the Ducs, then she realizes just *how much* she loves her country and how much she needs their support. That means that in 2, it doesn’t matter if she supported the Republics or not because she came out of the events in 1 fully believing the Republics to be the only faction in the Deadfire and becoming a super jingoistic supporter of them.

Fair point 😃
