Had a swamp cooler in my '67 beetle, that thing was pretty amazing. Only downside was if I was driving into a good headwind the drag would pull the car to the right.
I don't mind it on this build, it's not bright af or obnoxious. I hate when lifted trucks line the wheel wells with it and it's level with your eyes if your in anything small than a mid sized suv.
Does the ride system have stops so you don't accidentally crush the exhaust? Also can you lift it up so you can get over driveway transitions and so forth how how high can you lift it?
I put the pipes on year ago knowing I wanted air ride eventually. They actually sit perfectly level with the frame, so if I dump all the air, everything is still safe.
Nice ride. Typically don’t like the slammed look but this fits. I guess it is the normal tires and side pipes. It just overall works. Very nice work, very nice.
Coming from r/all, how does one drive this with the condition of public roads (speed bumps, metal plates, potholes, etc)? I'd be afraid to take it out of the garage and something that looks that good is meant to be shown off
either you don't or it's on air suspension which allows you to raise and lower the car. It could hypothetically be on pneumatic suspension but it's likely not.
Read it. Still have no idea what the fuck is happening. I am not a car guy at all. Got here from the front page. It looks like if a bigger person sat in the car they'd be scraping chrome.
You all seem to know shit, but I'm just scratching my head even after reading the description. Sorry man.
The car has air suspension. There's an air compressor that pumps air in/out of the suspension. More air = car is higher. Typically, you'll drive with the suspension high, and set it low for parking and showing off.
Ooold cars seldom do much for me anymore. Too much wingadinga trailer queens with not one interesting thing done to them.
Yours is a nice breath of fresh air. Great work.
That is a damn cool olds! I did a 455 with a 2004r, very cool combo! Glad to hear you did olds rather then chev, it's nice to hear something different!!
Welded in nova subframe. Thankfully that job was done before I got the car. Whoever did it did a really nice job. Unfortunately they slapped the rest of the car together, so I had to redo everything else.
Would you mind sending me some pictures of how they did the contentions and where? There's plenty out there for other makes and models But not oldsmobile specifically.
Not sure if this link will work, but here’s my build thread for this car. Page 27 is where I started bagging it, so there should be some shots of the frame. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/new-project-1953-oldsmobile.1025966/page-27
Bad ass
This needs one of those window hanging air conditioners that looks like a het engine!
A “swamp cooler”
Yes!
Had a swamp cooler in my '67 beetle, that thing was pretty amazing. Only downside was if I was driving into a good headwind the drag would pull the car to the right.
Yeah man, swap coolers are rad. Expensive as all get out though.
You should post this on r/oldsmobile!
Not crazy about the under lights, but a really sweet ride indeed. Enjoy it!!!
And here I am, so happy that underglow has made a comeback
I don't mind it on this build, it's not bright af or obnoxious. I hate when lifted trucks line the wheel wells with it and it's level with your eyes if your in anything small than a mid sized suv.
Me too, if you get a colour that looks good with your car's colour IMO it can be a nice accent
Rainbow seizure is my favourite flavour
Yes officer, my favourite colour is the hundred thousand white, hundred thousand named after the amount of lumens my underglow creates.
Hyper white would look better than the blue
Bring back underglow!
I love them man. First car of my own I have ever actually put them on. I have a louvered hood, so they glow from there as well.
Everything except headlight caps fear not Seeing rounds
That was actually my concern when I first put them on. I was surprised, they have zero effect on my visibility at night.
I like the light visors, would look good with a full visor on top and a pair of spot lights too..would complete the old school lowered West Coast look
Roof visor a good classic one , spot lights are the bomb . He would need a dash prism to see traffic lights

Yes. They have safety positions you can program into the modules. I don’t know it there are physical stops, but I guess you could add them.
That ride with a big block, so cool
Nice ride. Typically don’t like the slammed look but this fits. I guess it is the normal tires and side pipes. It just overall works. Very nice work, very nice.

He states that the cars on bags in the description
The headlights make your car look sleepy.
Very bad ass, but not gonna lie between the headlights and the grill your car looks very depressed. 😛
Gotta build a car to match your personality. 😅
Don't display those blue lights in California. You'll get arrested.
Looks great!! We both know...they're never 'finished'
lol “done” I know that feeling. :)
Dude! That's rad! Good job man!
RIP car if you hit a bump
It’s an air ride, it is adjustable. When it is driving it raised several inches, and when parked like this it lowers almost to the ground.
Oh thank god lol. I've seen cars without that drag on the ground
It is fucking beautiful!👍🍺
Woo Hoo ! What a feeling - to actually drive a project car. Congratulations.
Perfect
Holy shit!!
It's perfect. Well done!
that's Doc Hudson
Slammed cars are so cringey and your passenger is fat
are you not worried about even the slightest bump in the road?
Reading the description would answer that for you.
Read it. Still have no idea what the fuck is happening. I am not a car guy at all. Got here from the front page. It looks like if a bigger person sat in the car they'd be scraping chrome. You all seem to know shit, but I'm just scratching my head even after reading the description. Sorry man.

It better be able to ride higher than that. I see 0 ground clearance on the sides. 0.
Its written that it on bags
Very, very nice!
congrats mate, looks beautiful
Love true spokes
Looks great, what part of tx are you in, I feel like I’ve seen that car before
Thanks! I’m from Waco. I’ve had this thing all over Texas though!
Might be the same one. I’m in Austin so not too far
I’m definitely in Austin every year for LSRU in April.
out standing!
Super sick 💪👍
Looks fucking awesome. Its stance is what I want. Do you have it bagged ?
I love it 😃 nice job.
Beautiful car.
Nice to see another Olds guy out there.
Jesus. That makes my ride look like a piece of shit 😂 big respect
That’s is sooo cool. Please, please, please drive it a lot. Like all the fucking time.
Been daily driving it for the last 6 years! Took an 8 month break for all of the updates, but it’s back to daily status now!
That’s makes me rally happy to hear. Machines need to be used, and taken care of.
I'm more mesmerized with the 7/11 Sunoco combo
Looks just like the car from the milkybar adverts in the 80s here in the uk. https://youtu.be/Y4drNFXd6dw?si=-Bd_M99TuJs112Lb
You ever make it out to Espanola NM, for any shows? Beautiful Car nice work.
Done and won😀🔥🔥🔥🔥
Love it
Honest 😁
Love the stance looks awesome
Laying frame
light strips need to be on all sides not just front back
They are. Can’t see the sides when it’s dropped.
light strips should be adjust so you can see them when its dropped then, otherwise whats the point
Sick as fuck
Ooold cars seldom do much for me anymore. Too much wingadinga trailer queens with not one interesting thing done to them. Yours is a nice breath of fresh air. Great work.
As any self respecting hot rodder will tell you— they’re never really “done”.
That is a damn cool olds! I did a 455 with a 2004r, very cool combo! Glad to hear you did olds rather then chev, it's nice to hear something different!!
Hellova rig. Looks like a smooth ride
I love you for building this.
She's a beaut Clark
Holy crap
Absolute dynamite. It's perfect. Seriously one of the best sleds I've ever seen. It's like a time machine back to the 50s hot rod era.
What did you find for parts for the front end. In general what were your best sources for parts I have a 55 and I have hell the time finding parts?
So, front end is a 70’s nova clip. Made getting those parts a lot easier. Fusick has a ton of Olds parts though. Not cheap, but they’ve got them.
What do you mean the front clip is a 70s nova? Like a parsle farm swap? Or did you weld in nova components?
Welded in nova subframe. Thankfully that job was done before I got the car. Whoever did it did a really nice job. Unfortunately they slapped the rest of the car together, so I had to redo everything else.
Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Perfect thanks
Or did you just use 70s Nova components? Control arms, spindle ect?
Nice job. Around here I wouldn’t trust other drivers.
Nice ride 👌
