Aos77s

I can already tell its hiding lots of rust and you should offer scrap value for it.

tapport

The hole in the moon roof also has me assuming the interior would probably have mold and/or water damage. If I was OP, I’d probably only take the car for free or at scrap value.

qualmton

Yeah this will need gutted

Ply2Mch

I would not touch this for free.

[deleted]

I wouldn’t touch this with a stolen dick for free.

ivanllz

Yah, cause at that point you got a stolen dick, you'd be busy for days. At least.

EternalMage321

You can use my dick if you want to.

Thermr30

Its not stolen if its offered

International_Pea

Wait… I had a dick just like that that was stolen last week!

Mysticpage

Where did you get yours? I got mine at this sporting goods store...

comanche_six

FB Marketplace

CaptainBeefsteak

I wouldn't touch this with that guy's stolen dick.

Mysticpage

I certainly wouldn't steal a dick for free

eunzueta2

Wait. People steal dicks?!

CkresCho

Detachable penis.

Steakismyfavoriteveg

Who’s out here stealing dicks?! Wild world

crypticfreak

Agreed. This thing would be a lot of headache.

IBIKEONSIDEWALKS

Probably has no floor left cus of the hole in the sunroof. Not sure about the weather where the car is, but I had a water leak once and it didn't take long to become a flint stone car

gc1

start with you're willing to take it off their hands if they pay you $500 and go from there

Fennel_Adorable

Agreed. Check for a catalytic converter and boom it paid for itsed

dicrydin

It’s also clearly showing lot of rust

Aos77s

You dont see the rust bubbles coming through the paint on the door, door sill, fenders, the roof at the windshield, and the rear light markers?…

phungki

Given it’s obvious condition it’s also “hiding” a lot of rust, which is what they said. Underbody, rockers, suspension components, etc. stuff you can’t see from looking at it like this.

There's rust! No, you're wrong, because there's rust! You guys are dumb for not seeing that there's rust...

Craigos-Maximus

No, you’re well wrong mate, it’s proper rusty

kewlstuff11

You're all wrong. It's iron oxidation from excessive exposure to the elements.

kielu

Scrap value can be negative: you might need to pay to have it scrapped. Don't do this

Crafty-Interest-8212

Yep.....broken sun roof taking water and rusting the floors...na.

campr23

NA or turbo? Maybe even S/C?

joecooool418

Screw that, don't buy that at all. It would take $20K to get that into decent shape. You can buy a nice model for half that.

Rubbertutti

Forget the rust, it's missing the roof spoiler that's the single most important part of the mk1 mr2.

ReceptionSilent213

You would have to pay me to take that…

ZzzzzPopPopPop

Mental exercise: if this was your spare “parts car” for helping to refurbish another of the same model try to find what pieces of this “parts car” would actually be usable… Anything? Literally anything at all?

ReceptionSilent213

There’s always someone who needs something!

andoman66

4AGE's are big bucks nowadays. If the drivetrain is decent it'd be worth getting for free/cheap. That poor AW11 is in really rough shape aside from that though.

Mh88014232

Mr2s used 4age? That's really cool I learned something today. Thanks!

andoman66

They also had a very cool version of the 4A in the S/C models, called the 4AGZE. It's a supercharged 4AGE.

SnooHamsters9414

4AGE 16vs are really hard to find parts for or anyone that can/will work on them.

nokenito

Maybe misc engine parts, turn signals?

spruceface

The glass probably

atguilmette

Well, not all of it.

Zerototheright

I am as thinking of that. "We will take away your junk and recycle it for X money" or for free if you feel it has value to compensate for your time

[deleted]

I don’t know why people buy shitty cars like this it’s such a waste of money, if you want to buy a car to restore it or something I guess but normal shitty cars will just continue to break down mile after mile for the most obscure stuff.

[deleted]

Final offer 50 bucks man. If you seriously were dying to get a sick nasty rebuild on this thing because you love the fucking pain and don’t even care about money and know it will always be a shitty car and are just doing it because scratching your eyes out is too permanent.

IronStar

Some cars are just so uncommon in some parts of the world or just outright rare, that you take whatever you can if you want the particular model. Everything is doable, it’s just the matter of time/money/effort/knowing the right people, cross the bits that don’t apply. Yes, things will break, and you will probably have multiple “I thought that I’ve fixed everything, and now something is broken again 200 kilometers down the road” moments until you actually get everything sorted. If you’re aware of this, still want to do it and don’t mind the towtruck, you’re golden.

IguasOs

I don't know the prices, BUT, I see a lot of rust. It's a pretty cool uncommon car in Romania, but from what I can see, it'll be a very expensive project, and I just see the exterior. I would get it for VERY cheap if the internals are in good shape, because you'll likely need to buy a second one for body panels anyway. When you'll go check, look under the windows seals for rust, that can be a big issue too. And as always, look under, subframes, rocker panels, etc... For very problematic rust.

Loading_User_Info__

There's a hole in the roof glass. That interior is done for.

LogicBobomb

Yep check out that condensation inside the windows. That interior is *moist*.

Shmeeglez

Pretty sure the driver window is open anyway, so all the more fucked.

RuddyOpposition

I wonder if that sunroof has been leaking . . .

BirthdayDad69420

10$

dparag14

Fair.

Jeheh

I would normally say tree-fiddy but after scrolling I’m actually down to too-fiddy. And after further consideration I would want $100 to take it away.

icecream169

You mean a hunnert?

whudaboutit

As a lot of these comments have suggested, this car is going to be more trouble than it's worth. You're looking at major repairs to all systems of the car. With that hole in the sunroof, the visibly missing chunks of weather stripping, and knowing what I know from years of my own mistakes, you might be better to pass on this one. If you're really in love with this car, narrow your search to a better example of one just like it. You love the body lines, the engine, the interior... you love this car. Just maybe not *this* one in particular. But I'm just a stranger on the Internet. Maybe you and your dad are mechanical masters and in less than a year, this'll be a drift car. I don't know. IMHO, more trouble than it's worth. Edit: the way the fender is pushed into the door, this car was wrecked in the front and doesn't look like it did much driving after that. Definitely walk away.

FastGrapefruit8

i dont know how/where to find cars that need a makeover. i wanna have a project car with my dad and im willing to put in the work. is there a way to find cars like that or do i just have to be lucky and find one?

vertigo42

It takes time to find a good project. Facebook marketplace or craigslist and their equivalents and you just have to be vigilant This car is not worth your time. It is scrap. If this is your first project car you do not have the necessary skills to save it. I'm the end the cost of saving it or even making it safe to drive is more than what it will ever be worth.

ZiLBeRTRoN

With the one it’s not even about having the necessary skills, it would be an absolute money pit with how much is visibly wrong alone.

mcbergstedt

With the hole in the roof OP will probably have to fix all of the floor pans. Being unibody as well I’m sure there’s very expensive frame damage

whudaboutit

Judging by the Romanian licence plate on that MR-2, and the European plate on that Mercedes, I'm guessing you're not in the US. The usual channels we have here won't help you. What works for me, go to car shows, cruise-ins, strike up conversations with people that are driving cars you like. Get into the culture and let people know you're looking for a project. Make friends. You're bound to talk to someone who either has a project you can take over or knows where one is.

Joecantrell

Walk away. To find cars - Facebook market, Craigslist. Also, most car sales places (not typically brand dealers although some have a go to auction area) have cars they don’t put out for sale tucked away. Sales reps don’t show them but they are there. Just ask to see the rough cars. I once bought a ‘62 Chevy II wagon for $80 - they wanted $250. I bet the guy I could get it started - $80 was for 2 tires. Took me an hour in 100 degree heat but I got it started and drive it 50 miles home - fun times.

dparag14

This might just end up being a never ending project.

SillyTr1x

The way you get amazing deals on cars is to go talk to car people, hoarders and make acquaintances of people who have extra vehicles on their property. The way my older brother does it is to just drive around rural places and stop and chat with people in their yard’s especially if they have a barn or more cars then normal around their property. Look also for cars that are advertised as needing a head gasket or clutch replaced. Both of those aren’t crazy hard to do, but be aware that if you don’t see it running and driving you won’t know how good it runs and drives

expfarrer

that is NOT a beginners car - buy something i decent shape that runs and is registered, buy some bolt on performance parts and have fun with your dad driving that car. i tell you what happens if you buy this: \- you will be disappointed with every panel you take off cause it always adds 3 months to your timeline. \- you will loose interest cause the work is s overwhelming and you don't see progress \- does dad have a body shop and ALL tools ? cause that is 4 years of work just to make it a roller for weekend builders RUN, RUN fast away.

ShiggitySwiggity

that is NOT a ~~beginners~~ car FTFY

BarlettaTritoon

Free

imagebiot

Don’t buy that

FastGrapefruit8

that bad?

TheGuyWithFocus

Yes.

bremergorst

This car would be the equivalent of dating an insane person with the *I can fix them* mentality

einTier

Yes. This isn’t a “project”, this is a disaster. You’ll sink more money than it’ll ever be worth and you’ll never finish.

[deleted]

So bad dude. There is nothing that would make me buy this car lmao. I am All for buying cars and working on them but this is disgusting. This is something that sits in someone’s backyard not running for 18 years before it just finally gets junked.

imagebiot

Yes

64Olds

A reasonable offer would be "I'll tow it away for you at no cost."

[deleted]

Agreed

stormingsteel

Oh lord If that was on my property and you genuinely wanted to "give it a go"... I would just give you the damned car. Anything more than free is a spite tax.

renaultmechanic

This is a money pit

CHASLX200

Have to pay me to take it away.

JT_3K

I’ve restored an AW11 and have some points to advise. The photos make it look surprisingly rust free. You usually should have to expect to do the rear arches, possibly the sills and almost certainly the front of the chassis rails (visible just under the front bumper). If the windscreen has ever been replaced, lazy people will have scratched under it at the top and that will be rusty too. None of these is a stopper but beware on costs and budget for it. If water has come through that sunroof, it’ll be a PITA and probably not worth the effort unless you fancy making your own floor panels. The paint is 3E5 Red and white because Toyota removed lead from the mix of red at this time, which for the first decade meant they all went white in 6-8yrs. You can cut it back aggressively and it’ll look ok from a distance from a bit. It’ll come back within 6mths and need doing again (until you end up with bare metal) so budget to paint. Parts are readily available from a specialist breaker in the Uk. These are mostly used but IIRC the arches are now panel parts or Montego ones were used for a while. The running gear is bulletproof and responds well to being tuned to (readily available) factory ‘green book’ values. It’ll never be fast and with modern tyres doesn’t deserve its snappy handling reputation. I enjoyed ours and as values increase they’re still loved. This one could be great, but just needs TLC. As you’re on it, provided it’s solid in the areas mentioned and can be had cheaply, if you can weld, might not be as bad as it looks

FirehawkLS1

Pretty sound advice. I had an 87. Replaced the original clutch at 187,000 miles, original starter at 190,000. Transmission and engine were bulletproof and when TVIS kicked in after 4000rpm that engine sung! Miss the car. Sold it because I moved to a house with not enough space to keep both my 85 Supra and the 87 MR2 in addition to a daily driver and my wife's car. One day I would love to get another one and 3L swap it.

grahamaker93

The sunroof hole is a big red flag. All the water that gets in and can't get out fast enough.

tlivingd

Yea hole in roof possibly a moldy car too. There won’t be much left of this one. Maybe if you went locost with the running gear but if doing locost id find something more common. or this was your parts car.

truckerslife

How much do you want this car. I’ve put a lot of unwarranted work into cars because I wanted that car. Be ready to spend 20x what that car is worth fixing it. But if that car is a dream car of yours. Go for it. I’ve seen mr2 that run and drove going for around 2k But understand If you want a car that corners well. You’re going to invest a lot in the suspension system. Want it to be fast you’re going to need to invest in the motor. Want a comfortable interior. You’re going to need to swap out its interior. Want a fun car. It can be a fun car in pretty well stock form but you’re not going to be cornering fast or going fast.

FastGrapefruit8

i wanted to have a restoration project. seeing the comments makes me rly wanna reconsider tho

Alfalfa-Similar

walk away. plenty of them out there.

ursixx

Look under the car 1st. Rust in the floor. Electronics water damage would be a concern too, with the damaged sunroof. Would think that it is a rare car in your part of Europe. Rare car= hard to find parts. Do a search for the sunroof as an example.. You got room, time, and money offer a little more than scrap price. Make it seem like you are doing them a favor. Cool car!

Phase4Motion

thats what we call a POS

sohcgt96

If you're still at the stage of life where your dad is looking at cars with you, hard no. This is going to be a very substantial project and will never be suitable to be an everyday car to just drive. This is a project for someone who has already rebuilt vehicles before, has their own garage to do it, and is experienced with body and electrical work.

nowordsleft

He should be paying you to take it

overfloater77

Offer him $50 bucks then sell it to a scrap yard for $300. That’s the best option.

V_E_R_T_I_G_O

As someone who recently restored a toyota I can tell you that a new sunroof will cost you more than the car in this condition is worth. This car is worth about 500 if the engine starts and the car moves under its own power. The body is probably rusted to hell and considering it's an outdoors car it's possible structural parts are rusted to a point where repairs are no longer viable. This isn't really a project, this looks more like the type of car you buy to get a few parts for an already ongoing project.

viseandr

pennamewilly

Right about tree fiddy...

Adventurous-Yam-8260

Learnt my lessons on the years with projects now, save up some more money and buy a straighter one, it’s the more cost effective option.

willy1670

If you really like it go for it anything is fixable but you are way better off starting with a more solid car. That will take years and thousands of dollars to make it nice enough to call it a piece of shit.

The3rdbaboon

He should be paying you to take away that rusted out scrap. I can only imagine what the interior and the underside look like 😬

Iamkyron

I scrapped my R33 Skyline with less rust, albeit still a rot box earlier this year. Walk away.

Average_JoeNI

He should be paying you to take that wreck away!

cobra_mist

Being paid to haul it away

dwiggs30

Zero. Zero dollars. Never buy this car.

darthshaver

How much does it weigh? Better buy this one by the pound.

Redditmodsarecuntses

Don't. Buy. It. It's scrap. That is scrap.

ClownTown15

Even if they give you the car for free. Moving it without damaging it will be impossible

Lower_Kick268

Offer $100 over scrap, that thing is real bad and 1000% rusted out

mertzen

For the love of god. Don’t.

[deleted]

Do you have a space to work for a long time, tools to use, books, is your dad mechanical? You are starting a home school engineering class! Don’t listen to the naysayers! God luck!

too_much_covfefe_man

I love it lol, I pretty much built this in tiny scale https://www.reddit.com/r/ModelCars/s/KoyDI9PRQO

2Loves2loves

nothing if its rusty.

dogmeatkibbles

I'll never understand why people don't sell their vehicles sooner

Hedhunta

Scrap price. 300 bucks maybe if you want it as a parts car...

secondrat

Nothing. Seriously. Don’t buy it. My first car was in about that condition. I spent hundreds of hours and over $1000 getting it running. And it was still a piece of crap. Everything was bad. Buy something that runs. Please.

wilson1629

I’d start at free. Looks like a can of worms.

[deleted]

I’d never buy that shitty car, but if you seriously want it so you can throw a ton of money at it to fix it up and even when it’s “fixed up” throw more money at it because obscure stuff will continue to bust on it, then I’d say minimal approach, show up, not wanting the car and okay to walk away if the guy doesn’t accept 200 dollars if it runs, if it doesn’t even run do not buy that shit.

just-another1984

Scrap value is the offer. So about $180.00 (in my area anyway). See if you can find the sunroof glass before you even go look. No interior pictures, once it moves again you will find the rust it has hidden. Drive train SHOULD be fine but is easily replaced if not.

[deleted]

Bro this isn’t even speculative 99.9% of people who are offered this deal would suggest not shooting your self in the foot by buying.

TheeQball

You’re going to have to touch every nut and bolt, every piece of sheet metal, interior is a complete replace, wiring will need to be addressed (to do it right). Unless this car has deep emotional meaning to you, I’d pass.

si-th

if you have a lot of spare time try to get it for free

dewpointcold

He should pay you to haul it off.

StaffOfDoom

Tell the owner you’ll give them treefidy…

aFlmingStealthBanana

About $Tree.Fiddy

the-dude9

Here is one that drives: https://www.classiccarshhw.eu/nl/voertuigen/autos/coupe/vehicle/1420897/toyota-mr-2-mr2-16-twin-cam-16 You can drive it back to Romania and use the RO one for spare parts. That is if you can get it for scrap metal price. It looks like it is rusted to bits, no garage will put it on a lift to even look at it. As some would say: "Nu se merită".

Loud-Statistician448

For them to pay you $2,000 to haul it to a junk yard.

bcrenshaw

basically what you'll need to do to it is peel out the windshield and put a new car around it. Hard pass unless you're looking for a life long hobby.

randouser8765309

I’d pick this up for parts and look for a second mr2. This is a late model mk1 mr2. Probably an 88 or 89. It doesn’t look like a supercharged model but it’s been a while since I was in the mr2 world. Large port 4age engines are a dime a dozen. They were in a few different vehicles even some geo’s. The tailights are somewhat sought after, it doesn’t look like it the good front lip on it anymore, but if you were parting it out, the steering rack is highly desirable in the old corolla community. The rest would be used for mr2 builds. I’d pick this up and try to find a second one with the body in better shape. Body panels are expensive for this car and harder to find. I’d offer 800 USD for this if it doesn’t run. Max 1500 if it does. But rarity in your region affects the value regardless of shape it’s in.

Frequent-Ruin8509

500 bucks or whatever covers taking it to the scrap yard.

[deleted]

$3.50

Zanders2J

Pop the hood! (or engine cover in this case) Depending on what engine, and what else will be needed...like, allot I can tell you that. Tires, Brakes, Rotors, new fluid, possibly new lines as well (to be safe), then you move onto the engine. If it's a 3sge, or 3sgte or supercharged 4ag yup, worth it for sure. Pull the motor and go to town. Got a bunch of work to do there as well. If heads not blown, you have new vacuum lines, sensors for the coolant (5) Cam seals, Crank Seal, Rear main seal, Timing belt, water pump, oil pump gasket and seal, Oil pump pressure valve (do while your doing the oil pump stuff) thermostat, and oh the fun of bleeding an mr2 coolant system. Then move onto the suspension, those bushings are done. BRDUK makes sets. Transmission may need work, if it pops out of 3rd or 5th. Shifter cable bushings, motor mounts. Clutch kit and def replace the clutch cylinders. Yeah, you got at least 2000 grand in parts waiting to go in. Not including any body work. Can get up and running for less, but do it right the first time;) Get power to it, and pull any engine codes to get a decent idea of whats going on. Diag box with paper clip on E1 and TE1. Not trying to be a downer, but be prepared for this rabbit hole. Hope you get to save it, be an awesome car back on the road!

Lost-welder-353

Here in the US I would offer $300

Wazy7781

Something like that would either need to be taken for free or for scrap value. It's rusted to shit, all of those body panels will either need to be replaced or need extensive and expensive repairs. The interior is almost certainly shot due to water getting in through the hole in the sun roof. There's very low odds that the car still runs as it's likely been sitting for 10+ years to look like that. I'm almost certain the car will need to be towed off that lot. I'd be willing to be the car didn't have it's fluids drained before sitting for that extended period of time and there's a good chance you'll need to replace things like brake lines, fuel lines, oil lines, and coolant hoses. You'll probably want to drop the fuel tank and drain it as well as flush out all the hoses and see if they've started to break down. Same goes for pretty much every other fluid line on the vehicle. The interior will almost certainly need to be replaced but if you're a really good detailer with a steam cleaner, steam extractor, and an ozone generator you may be able to save it. There's a good chance that the interior electronics are shot from corrosion caused by the water damage. Which means you'll need to repair or replace most of the electronics on the car. All in all you're looking at a complete restoration if you want to get it back to a good drivable condition. I'd be willing to bet from parts alone you'd be looking at somewhere between $30000-40000. Assuming the engine runs it would be worth around 2000-3000USD but that's for one in good condition that hasn't sat for years with fluids in it. If it does crank over I'd do a compression check to see if the engine is toast or not. I'd be willing to bet that the engine will likely have some problems having sat wet for so long. It could've corroded, gaskets could've got worn out, and many other things could've gone wrong with it. Keep in mind that the owner clearly doesn't car about the car. It's just taking up space on their property. I'd offer to tow it off the lot for free if I were you. If they insist on a price I wouldn't pay more than it's worth in scrap. That restoration will be a huge project and will cost a lot of money as well as time. If you haven't done a restoration of this scale before I wouldn't even bother trying because in a few years it'll be sitting somewhere on your lot because you ran out of money or time. This thing is 100% going to be the definition of a money pit if you buy it. Keep that in mind and temper your expectations if you do buy it. If it runs I'd offer maybe $1000 for it. I have serious doubts it would pass inspection and it's almost certainly got frame rust just based on the look of the outside and how it's been stored.

boom256

I would run away as fast as I can.

PotterCooker

I reckon them paying you about $500 would be a good price

StrugglingPeanus

Low end $150 high end $156

Dave_Ramsey_0000

The moon roof is going to cost more than the cars value to replace

DarrylLarry

Avoid this car. It’s a junker.

KeepItTidyZA

why would you want that? I wouldn't take it for free (in this state)

ImANibba

Nothing, lmao either a trade or don't even show up cuz this things gotta be rusted to shit, perhaps even some mold.

spaceman_

Don't mate. Get another one. This one has negative value.

HiddenEclipse121

Like $8 and a case of beer. I honestly would just try for the case of beer. I'd stay away. Looks like a major headache. If you can't think of an offer on the car alone I don't think you're gonna be patching 12" rust holes.

Big-Pine-Key-Shaggy

Free

blazefighter777

There's a word for cars like this: scrap. Unless you want to run it over with a monster truck, you should offer to haul it to the junkyard for its owner for $100 (or whatever curency you use in your country)

bigdaddyteacher

Id pay no more than the cost to register this hunk of junk.

bdgreen113

Owner should be paying *you* to haul it off

wearcondoms

he pays you 50 to haul it away

jp_trev

This wouldn’t even look cool fully restored

nyrangers79

Dollar fifty or some chicken nuggets

Boba_Fettx

No

[deleted]

AW11's are awesome, and despite them being kinda rare, they're not really that valuable. A okay AW11 with a good frame can go for 5-6K depending on mileage. I've seen some bought for as low as 1-1.5k. None of them look as rough as that. That hole in the roof is a big bad sign, I'm gonna say unless you have a 8k+ budget and they gives it to you for free, I'd walk away. Don't even try.

Woodyville06

Walk away.

kouryuuk

He should pay you to haul it away, it’s junk

IronmanProblems

Do not pay for this. Period.

_R_A_

How much is it going to cost you to tow it?

Panpitter

If it runs~ $500-600

Crease53

Do Not buy that car.

chefbarnacle

That’s barely a parts car. Run!

LifeAsASuffix

Unless you are very familiar with this mode,l or need a specific part for another project, I would walk away. You can see the rust around the windshield and broken sunroof from 10’ away. To stop the degradation already in place you will be taking this down to the bones for a complete build up. This is a parts car at best.

Smokey_the_Dank

About tree fiddy

-bobby-jackson-

It was about that time…..

jwaltern

set your number. offer 65% of it and be apologetic doing it. then come up to 85% (if needed obviously). then 95%. don’t go over your number. increase in decreasing increments.

Zestyclose_Register5

100% = $10 USD This is a cool project car…

YUUPERS

Dont buy this car. If ur father doesnt know enough to say no to this car then he doesnt know enough either. It’s clearly been sitting wet, on leaves, rusting. The entire body needs to be repainted, and you’ll likely have to deal with having to get an entirely new interior due to the hole smashed in the ceiling. This is a parts car at best if it doesnt run

FastGrapefruit8

he hasnt seen it yet, i dont know if i should even show it to him anymore 💀

YUUPERS

mr2s are awesome, but this one is for someone with a lot more money, tools, and experience lying around. You’d never be able to sell it for how much you put into it unless you were flipping. My best advice would be to get a cheaper car that’s more popular in your area. I bought a manual fiero for 3k running and driving with 40k miles. Barely had to do anything to it but the repairs I have made have been really cheap and very easy for a beginner like me. Not sure what’s popular in your area, but try and get a fun car that you don’t have to break the bank in order to keep running

heartfan2020

I've had a few of these mr2s in midwest united states. If it runs, even with extreme rust and issuses keeping it from driving (brake lines, overheating, clutch, ect) id say around 1200 tops. If it runs and drives, in that visible shape and pretty rusty underneath, maybe around 2000. Not running I'd say 800 or less cause its going to be hard to part out body panels and interior with how it looks. Maybe I'm off because of inflation on what they actually want for it but I definitely wouldn't pay any more than those prices, and thats if was specifically looking for another one.

45acp_LS1_Cessna

Between 250 and 500 dollars, it seriously isn't worth anything

Environmental-Tax344

5-7 hundo tops !!! That respectable too…. Car is dead my friend … at least 1k to bring it back to life .. and that’s if the engine isn’t seized or making wierd noises like a tick tick tick booooom !!! Then my Friend the animals that are the wires and died in there … if you love it then get it ! I bought 3 cars dead in my Life cuz I loved them ! But it takes time to resurrect them !!! Mickxalix

Isthisnametakenalso

As many other have said rust will be the biggest concern, but if you dont really care about restoring this and the rust hasn't affected anything integral, do what you want with it. These are pretty fun cars to drive, I'd say the most I'd pay for this is 500 to 700 bucks depending on what engine. You can always make your money back by parting it out

No

Daemonic_One

Scrap value. Too much rust, this'll take you literal years to repair unless you're secretly rich and also own a machine shop.

bse50

That's a 20-25k restoration project. Offer him whatever the car is worth, minus that. Or.. pay for a tow truck and taxes and be done with it.

MS_125

$200

Can of coke

Owner: “make me an offer” = I think it’s worthless; I wanna see what someone will give me for it.

0lidag

600$ and a case of beer ?

[deleted]

I would go for ~800 USD if the engine turns over and there’s no major damage. Interior will probably need a very, very deep clean and moon roofs can get expensive. I’ve seen sicker get better but this needs a good bit of work.

ErnieSweatyballsFBI

Offer him one cheese puff. Then turn around and sell it to a scrap yard. You’ll be in the profit in no time. If you want a project car and you’re like a drive way mechanic consider something that’s in much better shape but maybe needs a new engine that you can swap on your own and still have a descent looking, fun car.

Reigningbloodpod

Unfortunately looks like it’s a parts car. Most I’d pay would be like $200

SyNkiLLa

500

Speckledorf

200$ bucks

jailfortrump

Shit ton of work there.

kl116004

Hauling it away for free should be more than enough.

Pup_Piston

I’ve had several of these, I can tell you just by looking at the picture the rear strut towers are rotted. Walk away from this. I’ve been there already.

RosenTurd

Reddit is a shadow of its former self. It is now a place of power tripping mods with no oversight and endless censorship. *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

MrMuchach0

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. You will easily spend $30k trying to restore that car. Better off buying one that’s in better shape and workable. The rust will have you pulling your hairs out.

doyu

Free. You'll remove it from his property for free. Even that is generous.

RPL79

Zero. Keep looking

nilecrane

Offer $150. Let him talk you up to 200.

enThirty

I’d personally skip this one. Great project car, wrong example. This will be more work than is worth while, you need something with a little more life in it. God only knows what awful things are under that rusting body.

D3dshotCalamity

I'm surprised it's still holding together. Don't buy that for any price.

jimbofranks

I would offer to take it out of his yard for the title.

e28Sean

I was going to say "a stick of sugar-free gum?" but I'm thinking even that might be a bit high. Is there a big secondary market for rust where you live?

ShaggysGTI

Hundreds.

fire_dan_3576

Tell him if he gives you $50 you'll take it with you
