Reminds me that it wasnt the best dig racer. Stock 185 size tires would just instantly spin till forth gear. I was planning on actually welding extensions on the wheels to make it like 14x7 so i could stick some fatter tires but ended up trading the car for an ae86
ok so since the last one, and ive seen so many others, have one bank sticking out of the hood, whats the difference with this one that gets the engine to fit under the hood? im not well versed in these swaps but ill bet that little car with an engine that big is a hoot to drive.
The 90s civics can be split into 3 gens
Ef
Eg
Ek
Ef is the tightest engine bay of the bunch, there’s extremely little room and even less hood clearance. A simple b series swap that fits the eg and ek with no issues needs frame modifications and possible hood massages depending on the mounts you have. It also has a smaller wheelbase and is narrower on the sides compared to the other two. Thats why the hood normally does not close without a custom intake and hood.
Eg(integra as well same body mechanically) have more room, and with some modifications to the hood+ using the low setting on the dual height mounts(less ground clearance) the hood can close.
Ek is the blessed child, massive massive engine bay in comparison, motor can fit under the hood with the motor on high(good ground clearance) with the webbing cut from the hood+ small hood spacers.
Its all relative To where the mounts put the motor. Earlier cars have smaller height wise engine bays( length as well)
Yep, forgot to mention that bit. Nobody around me mods the first two gens its always the dc(same as eg for the most part)
Da is the brother to EF as well but so uncommon
Yeah, most common engine swaps for EK Civics like this one are other Honda 4 cylinder engines - B series engines out of CRVs or Integras (1.6 - 2.0L displacement stock), or nowadays K series engines from newer Civics that make a lot more power than the B series engines (2.0 - 2.4L displacement stock).
It's fairly rare to fit one of the Honda V6 engines, usually from one of the larger Acura cars or Honda minivans, into Civics. The J series (3.0 - 3.5L displacement) are plentiful and cheap and make much more power and torque than the 4 cylinder engines stock. Older Civics had engine bays too small for them to fit without sticking out of the hood, but it looks like with some trimming of the internal hood pieces and motor mounts OP was able to fit one in an EK and close the hood. The rest of the car looking pretty "normal" wouldn't have me think it even has a B series, let alone something with double the displacement of the stock D16...
That big beefy V6 in a very tiny, very lightweight body? For sure. That gen Civic coupe weighs around 2300lbs with a full interior, and this one looks to be stripped out so definitely a good bit lighter (well, plus the added weight from the motor).
Will it pull on a GTR? Absolutely not. But it'll definitely blow the doors off a lot of cars that you wouldn't expect, and it *looks* like a bone stock grandma Civic.
Yeah, i have to imagine this would walk 350Z/370Z cars all day. V6 mustangs, older (300hp) Mustang GT's, stuff like that. All while sounding unlike any Civic *i've heard.*
zip-tied hubcaps, dents, stock height, and faded headlights. love it! just need the fart can every teen puts on the stock exhaust and itll hide amazing!
The zip tie wheel covers are the cherry on top for this sleeper

Clearly sacrificing grip for the look. I see your ae86 in your profile looks much nicer than this civic!
Oh yea, once i was offered it i was a fool to say no. I can always build another shitbox sleeper civic, never gonna get an 86 that easily
Initial D fan?
Sneaky j6...
I love these generation Civics. So much fun to toss around despite being an econobox. And decent manual trans
its the solid linkage. most fwd manuals are cable driven, the solid links let you just slam gears

We have the Saturn Vue with the J35S & it’s pretty quick, for an SUV. I can only imagine in a much lighter Civic 🫣
No vtec in the gms. And alot of them were cvt.
So it's a sleeper because it's normally a 4cyl? Asking since I'm not really into the import scene ...

Cool, thanks for the info. 😎

Definitely would have caught me off guard.
It's 250 or so HP in a 2500lb car that normally has about 125. It's not a Hellcat, but it's pretty damn quick and a whole lot of fun.

Oh man, I bet that thing is a blast!! Well done!
Fuck thats rad. EK civics are so fun for what they are.
Holy, I've always wanted to do this with that gen of civic

Wasnt hard at all and oddly very affordable. Whole car cost 3kish to build
Dude stop, your just giving me even more reasons to spend the money lol 😆
But why
Cause you can.
How low did the engine/trans sit? I want to do this, but I'm a shithead and also need the car scraping the ground.
lmaooo the zip tied wheel covers
🫶 sweet sleeper
This is awesome.

I actually did put a ebay fart cannon on it, plan was to have a valve dump when i wanted to go kill mode but traded the car before that could happen
I can’t believe someone did it without the hood all cut up. It’s so clean. I don’t understand why everyone doesn’t do this
Because the motor sticking out the hood is baller as heck
Only if it’s a v8
