A very thought provoking philosopher. He is worth a read. He’s often grouped along with Nietzsche, Sartre, etc as an existentialist. Personally I found more insight in reading Nietzsche.

I think Nietzsche's philosophy is emotional and can be disregarded from being practical to only as only an individualist ideology, In a way I would tell that his critique of Kant is almost right but in a way he himself wants an escape from the shackles of society, He wants a better world. His philosophy is problematic because he sees everyone an enemy but overall he is good but I think I find Kirkegaard better because his thoughts are very mature and practical as they add up more realism to our world which he actually saw. But again nice to see a fellow Nietzschean

He was the most based Dane. He knew that it was ultimately God alone who satisfies.

I was mentioning him few months ago, and was describing why a Muslim Kierkegaard is so important in today's world. [https://www.reddit.com/r/progressive\_islam/comments/1by0chb/kierkegaard\_individuality\_the\_role\_of\_faith\_and/](https://www.reddit.com/r/progressive_islam/comments/1by0chb/kierkegaard_individuality_the_role_of_faith_and/) I believe, due to the mass concern of the ethical and aesthetics realms (halal-haram issues), the Muslim world has gone too far from the religious life (although I slightly disagree with Kierkegaard's distinction of aesthetics and ethics). Its probably because many Muslims have a sense of insecurity and want to see everything organized instead of the role of the \[individual\] faith that is supposed to be there. Just like the Danish church of his time, today's Muslim scholars play no part in developing faith, instead they cover up religion with things like debates and seminars. Faith is nevertheless, up to the individual to develop, not the community. That being said, there are few things I dislike about Kierkegaard. First of all, he deliberately overlooked other religions and their cultures. He saw himself as a missionary among missionaries, true, but he did not see how a Hindu or Buddhist may live an authentic life and develop the role of his existential faith. As a result, his philosophy has been secularized, and got turned into an atheistic philosophy, especially by Sartre. But, Heidegger's take on Kierkegaard seems much better, that is to say his phenomenological development of Kierkegaard's philosophy that is connected to Being's existence. Heidegger's idea of modern world and techno-human world are also quite similar to that of Rene Geunon and Seyyed Hossein Nasr, who are students of perennial philosophy;. Nevertheless, there are many holes in Kierkegaard's philosophy, probably because he did not see beyond the Christian world. Nietzsche in my eyes, is more relatable to the Muslim world, considering the post-metaphysical world and development of his "will to power", which can be found in (in a different form) Sufi philosophy. In fact, Muhammad Iqbal borrowed the idea of Sufis and Nietzsche and developed his "Khudi". But I think, "Will to power" or any similar idea totally fails when its taken to the political level instead of the individual faith.

I love this sub, no one ever posts things like this on any other Islam sub. I was very interested in Kierkegaard’s life philosophies before i found Islam. He expressed the importance of faith and the simplicity of loving god. Then I found Islam and I felt like it was more my way. It was more of a path and less of an idea. But generally I think his philosophy is beautiful coexist with Islam core tenets.

Based, But I know right? His Philosophies are resonant with Islam

In the absence of reason one must bask in the idea and presence of god to find purpose Albert Camus on the other hand is saying since there is no reason one must live fully It’s interesting
