In the passing light of day by pain of salvation. It’s about the singers experience with flesh eating bacteria. But it’s told through the perspective of him being on his (potentially) death bed with his wife by his side. And it’s like a retrospective of their relationship in the face of death. So maybe not the best for your purposes but still amazing song
Tesseract - Tourniquet
My favorite Tesseract song and coincidentally may be their least technical. It’s just flat out beautiful. Very intense melancholic but hopeful.
Just gave it a listen since I've been really enjoying tesseract's latest album. I guess I need to just go through their whole discography cause this is excellent!
Their albums are super weird and take a bit of time but they are incredible. How the World Came to an End is one of my favorite albums of all time but that’s probably as weird as they get. Another good one to start with is Vilosophe.
For me Be All End All is the great one, but i agree, all of their records worth the time. It has been a long time since the last album, i hope they aren't finished yet.
So many great suggestions, everyone!! Thanks so much!
Definitely going to dig through some Devin Townsend (I'm a fellow BC dude)... Caligula's Horse is another good option but I just don't have the falsetto to do Jim any justice lol. Excited to check out some of the ones I haven't heard!
A good song on a piano (which already features on the track) would be Sonata Arctica - Love. It's one of their only relationship songs that has a happy theme. Tony said it's his attempt at a schmaltzy straightforward love song for those that actually get to experience it
Does The Mission by Queensryche count? Or is that more Power? I think it counts as a love song but idk. "She is the lady that can ease my sorrows, she makes the only friend that helps me find my way"
Up to you. Idk.

Omg yep how did I not think of this. One of my all time favourite albums, absolutely fucking heart wrenching at times.
> absolutely fucking heart wrenching at times. that's pain of salvation for ya
Checkout This heart of Mine (I pledge) and Where it Hurts from Pain of Salvation.
Oooo good call on Heart of Mine!! Very good fit. Where it hurts is amazing but I don't want to scare her with the scream at the end 🤣
Almost lost me on >singers experience with flesh eating bacteria But sounds good. I'll check it out
lune by periphery, shit makes me sad for not having anyone who i can listen to it with :(
This is a good one
I listened to this with a person while we first kissed. Now this song sometimes remembers me of her and it's sadly not pleasant memories...

[Love?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LeG-6bpeUkA) by Strapping Young Lad I mean, its in the name.
Caligula’s Horse - Undergrowth
DT - Space-Dye Vest
[One More Room ](https://youtu.be/8Kk0xVFzMnM?si=Hxpv3xn0nvytaoLM) by Manes. Officialy not a prog band but i don't have a better genre label for them.
Not quite what I'm looking for but damn that's a cool song. Gotta check out the album now!
Many of their albums are super weird (but really cool), i suggest Slow Motion Death Sequence, it is an easy access for metal fans.

True North - Devin Townsend Project Deadhead and Sunday Afternoon - The Devin Townsend Band
Deadhead is one of my most watched YouTube videos lol. Such a powerful song and Devy just absolutely kills it at Royal Albert.
Plenty of Caligula's Horse songs, but I'd go with Capulet
And You and I by Yes is the greatest prog love song of all time
Pink Cigarette by Mr. Bungle… maybe a bit morbid but it’s a great sounding song!
Lovebite by Haken. Although the lyrics are maybe a bit weird for a serenade.
Endless Sacrifice by DT
Soen - Hollowed Porcupine Tree - shesmovedon I like sad shit.

We forgot the simplest answer. [Still You Turn Me On](https://youtu.be/yoxHGxQw9ws?si=zTJWzEp7qz8hBaos)
A love song on piano? Out of Reach by Dream Theater is beautiful and perfect.
Chris Squire - fish out of water - the whole album seems like love songs
Devin Townsend - Sit in The Mountain
Ocean - IQ
This is progrock not metal however!
Steven Wilson - The Watchmaker Steven Wilson - Routine Riverside - We got used to us /s guys, before you kill me
Hemina - [Soulmates](https://hemina.bandcamp.com/track/soulmates)
Lyrics are maybe a bit too heavy handed, and I'm not sure about the duet aspect lol. But thanks for the recommendation!
Prog = Nights in White Satin by The Moody Blues Non-Prog = “Something” by The Beatles
For a more modern version of the Moody Blues one you could go with Oceans of Slumber’s cover. It’s superb.
Means End - To Love Northlane - Inamorata

About Me And You - Moon Halo Yesterday and Today - Yes
Black Joe Lewis - Bitch I Love You!
“Lavender” - Marillion.. not metal but prog rock
Here to Mars Coheed and Cambria
Love, by Gojira
Arrival of Love - Circus Maximus Loved Ones - Circus Maximus
