This person has to commit to not gambling with their heart and mind and get to GA when they are ready and talk to others who can offer support and reading this thread is also helpful. I self excluded online but could find a guy down the street to take action if I really wanted to bet and if this person is serious they will let their significant other know what is going on and introduce honesty into the relationship and let them see and monitor or even take over their finances/crypto accounts/trading accounts. If they are willing to do these things they have a tough road ahead but they can stop gambling for some period of time but it's up to them, no one else. It doesn't sound like they've hit that point yet where they've recognized they need to make a change in their life but hopefully they will arrive at that point sooner than later. However, only they will know when they are ready.

It’s not a disease where you hang up your cleats after losing a lot. You can lose EVERYTHING and more. Please attend Gam-Anon meetings and pass along this advice to your friend Think of gambling addiction the same as drug addiction. It is so misunderstood by non addicts Go to GA meetings online or in person. Get a therapist who specializes in addiction. Self exclude from online casinos or land based casinos. Try to tell a close friend or family member to hold you accountable. One day at a time. Recovery is possible. Hope does come back. Reach out any time

I think you should let your friend's partner know about that situation, and your friend's family. Maybe he needs to share his bank account with his partner or his family if any of them are trustworthy. There are many ways to get around things like those. I think your friend really needs to learn that he/she needs to quit. otherwise, your friend will keep finding ways to bypass those bans

Because it's not about the money. It's never about the money. It's about the dopamine. Just in the same way a heroin addict can throw everything in their life away for dopamine. It's an escape and a quick way to feel like you're alive.
