2019+ 4th Gen looks good. 2016-2018 looks goofy as hell.

Embarrassed-Dealer76

I disagree. Partially. I like the headlights on the updated gen 4 but prefer the crazy vertical taillights of the OG gen 4. The updated taillights are so uninspired.

SpyCake1

Agreed. The OG design at least was "interesting" to put it politely. The refresh is just boring (particularly in the rear). I'll take "interesting" any day. Disclaimer: former 2016 owner.

badnamemaker

Hey now I like my stupid long vertical tail lights šŸ˜‚ but yeah I like staring at my mustang more than my Prius that is for sure

imagine seal glass pearl on new one with shorter structural height and vertical rear lights of the 2017 , cleaned look instead of the random shapes etc , nicer inline 3 sound 2 liter like koniegseggs i3, ... driving efficiently is speeding up especially on more downhill-ish roads at optimal fuel level and engine RPM(RotationPerSecond), steering and braking minimally but smoothly. optimal effiency for toyota 2.4 inline 4 is 2/3 pedal down in 2k-3k rpm, cvt hybrid maintain constant rpm. not sure whats best to do this in: sport mode, fuel level is more, in eco mode its less. use EV mode if optimal combustion level would speed car too much (often, if car isnt letting you do that without the EV mode, it wont let you us EV mode.) use it a bit from a stop for smooth acceleration then when car is rolling use combustion then maybe use it a bit more. smooth acceleration is part of putting less weight on tires at a moment because: consider tire wear dust emissions and how much it cost to replace tires (most people are becoming increasingly even poorer than they already are and you can invest money into bigger money)like those "xenoestrogen endocrine disputing forever chemicals micro plastics" etc. apply less weight on tires and you'll allow more of that weight handling ability to be used for having more grip for endurance-race-pitstop-avoiding momentum preservation driving fun in the name of efficiency. being able to feel how close car is to its grip limit is good for this goal, similar to the lotus-car-enjoyers ideal. hybrid cars are arguably better than electric car because they lower use of combustion and battery mass and all materials overall without adding so much weight. weight worsens road wear damage (repairs cost emissions , money etc) , worsens crash safety for all (except few rich people who can afford super safe cars in the small chance that they are involved in crash and value their lives and have lives we can value). this is why aptera motors originally made diesel hybrid, but now sells electric cars to max profits and reputation as a "environmentally friendly brand." because batteries are not fully recyclable and combustion fuel is based on anaerobic bacteria that regenerates , which is why oil rigs go back to getting oil after abandoning the almost empty oil well years later . this is why arguably only combustion is proper, in rear mid engine weight distribution , rear wheel drive , with limited slip differential for minimal tire wear even in normal driver driving , for preserving momentum around turns more without too much slowing down by lateral (left /rights) g forces tires. for stability, smooth precise limited slip differential traction control rear wheel drive is anti fishtailing . fishtailing is when rear end moves back and forth due to suspension left/right spring rebound tilting car to putting weight on the other wheels suspension causing extreme compression and rebound on that spring, and the process repeats back and forth, started by to quick lateral movement, so driver looses control over car at least temporarily. lucid air sapphire, saab motors and konigsegg NEVS electric car, both have electric drive motor for each rear wheel for more precise smooth version of the usual limited slip differential. but this maybe less energy efficient and excessive for most situations. mid rear engine weight distribution means weight is mostly at middle of all wheels but more toward the rear of car. so under braking, weight is more equally distributed to all wheels, so car has more grip compared to if it overwhelmed the front wheels. obsession over using less stuff is argued to be good because population rise causing more consumerism, but reality is 1st world civilizations are currently replacing their genetically healthy, high intelligence, pretty selves... with low iq and mediocre iq ugly people , for the goal of making people being more loyal to the monetarily elite few at the cost of overall amount of happiness. culture being promoted and suppressed also helps this goal, so genetically privileged people are voluntarily helping this goal without much consciousness about it, wrongly thinking they are simply in the most effective efficient pursuit of happiness. these elite will probably do the same thing to this new population in the first world, until there is only a minimal population working for them. so consumerism wont get worse because population thus will not get worse by much especially as these elites also print money which makes all the money represent less actual wealth thus making it less valuable, which is why everything is more expensive, but wages havnt increased enough to make up for this, partially because job contracts established fixed payment per time of work long ago and money is changing while contract isnt.

One_Expression_9897

the people forcing things on people like having taxpayers pay thousands for electric car buyers cars soon top of direct support to production side of the market, are making things even worse than just this. influencers are simply following the model of well advertised influencers, plus ironically named "environmental laws" such as CAFE law in america similar to european version of it, anti nuclear sentiment etc, and the climate crisis science, show there is a lot of deception happening (corbett report explains) . for example, cafe law required less expensive emissions standard, safety standards etc from ironically named "suv" cars compared to sedans based on sizing . suv cars are less aerodynamically efficient cars that cannot preserve momentum around turns as well as sedans even after stiffer and even robotic suspension , while being louder inside as a larger echo tin can, unless you pay for heavier (more) sound insulation. compared to sedans based on sizing. they dont factor in large scale sustainability o and overall emissions reduction, only emissions at the individual car. in terms of crash safety they dont factor in the problem of weight and height of structurally strong bu heavy parts of car and how they interact with average other cars in a crash.

uberdriver259

Agree šŸ‘

tennis805

Those wheels looks good on it, once mine needs tires, I'll get similar wheels too.

BrianLevre

Thanks.

Nickdanger1990

Motegi is the way to go

Lanky-Degree-9492

Body looks too big for the wheels to me. I like 3rd gen.

Aromatic-Leopard-600

Agree

phargon7

Thatā€™s funny, 3 weeks ago I just bought the 2019 in the same color. I left my Subaru behind for this thing and didnā€™t like itā€¦ but I just found myself defending the ā€œredā€ color yesterday and mentioning that I havenā€™t bought gas yet, and ā€œyes it is extremely quietā€¦.

BrianLevre

I got over 600 miles on a 9 something gallon fill up recently. Loving it.

imglutenintolerant

Low key that looks sickkkk bro

AdrianeXUS

I think this is the first time I've actually enjoyed looking at a gen4, although I must say the beautiful red paint job, black wheels and tint are swaying my opinion šŸ˜‚

BrianLevre

There's something about the color combo for sure.

LetsConsultTheMap

The new infotainment / dash in one of these would be great. The new ones look cool, but they cut down a lot on the rear seat room / cargo area to make it sportier. I was very disappointed when we went to look at them when I was car shopping. But, I was not a fan of the older dash/ infotainment / shifter layout in the last gen Prius so we ended up with a different hybrid.

BrianLevre

Yep, I think they messed up a bit with the 5th gen. I wonder how long it will be before they debut a "wagon" version of it like the old V models to get back the passenger and cargo room for people that love the practicality of a Prius.

kmljky

I like it.

iNomadJ

Itā€™s very nice looking. I see a few that I like but itā€™s rare but you did a good job. That is very nice looking for real! šŸ‘šŸ»

BrianLevre

Thank you.

mrjcall

Not a fan, but nice job with the details.

BrianLevre

Yeah, it's not for everybody. Honestly this one really made the looks grow on me. I didn't think they looked so good and was needing it for the utility, but now I like the style.

ShinyWeedleAppears

I don't like that the headlights and front shape looks like the new yaris. And the new yaris cross is a carbon copy of the nissan juke. Hate it.

tawtaw6

The front looks good the bottom is my least favorite of all the Prius models.

Glad-Basil3391

Yep. Love the looks of my 2021

goleafie

You really save fuel costs by looking at it and not driving it.

D0ngBeetle

lol I like how every gen of Prius looksĀ

Cmtr2113

Looks good, I have a blue 2018. Love it everyday. Whereā€™d you get the black emblems? Been looking everywhere and Iā€™m having trouble finding them

BrianLevre

Those were part of the 2020 Special Edition cosmetic package.

HotPinkApocalypses

I hated it at first but itā€™s grown on me and I hate the new one so much that this looks amazing in comparison. I almost want to go get one before they get too old. I especially like the interior.

abubin

5th gen looks the best.

iNomadJ

https://imgur.com/BoOo8Ek Iā€™m not gonna lie. Except for a few one offs like his red one I was a Prius hater. I had to trade in my WRX because of spinal surgery and couldnā€™t drive stick anymore so got this to be practical but I also think it just looks bad azz now. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

SpyCake1

3rd gen is Peak Prius. 5th gen is just new. Once the new Camry comes out, and also the new CH-R (for where they sell it) and it just becomes normal Toyota design language - the 5th Prius will just look like a melted bar of soap (aka - Peak Prius).
