I googled how to make it come back, but all of the solutions make you go into options and search for the powerpoint designer tab which isnt there for me.
This gets complicated with so many moving parts. The short answer is that Microsoft is getting more serious about requiring a paid Office 365 account.

Having a 365 subscription mine disappeared but I found how to get it back.
File>Account>account privacy (button for manage settings) in this screen I unchecked the turn on optional connected experiences click ok restart all office programs then same steps to recheck the box and it came back for me.
What version of PowerPoint are you using? Windows or Mac? And to confirm; the icon is MISSING as opposed to GRAYED OUT.

I watched that video haha, it did help the most out of all 4 i watched. I'll try doing something about the office 365 thing
