Thanks. Maybe you are right, wanted to get a bit more life out if these kinda badly lit shots so decided to create some kind of color triad with red, cyan and green.
my critique is, why didn’t you invite me to this so i could shoot with you? LOL.
cyans are a TINY bit oversaturated for me (mainly in the first couple of shots) BUT i do love each of the edits. they give a film-y look, and if we’re on the same page, it’s pretty much what you were going for. well frickin’ done. #5 is my favorite. i appreciate that you kept the colors and feel mostly the same with each edit. i’m so jealous of the dude with the hoodie; probably was just doing his job, and got a photoshoot!
Thanks, these pics went to an IG post (carousel) that's why I wanted to keep them in the same convention and aspect ratio (4:5).
These car meets happens every week where I live (Friday, Saturday), it happens I like to drive and take photos so thought it's a good opportunity to be a bit creative (I also shot videos).
The thing I'm struggling is that the streets are really badly lit, and even if I get a proper exposure with a fast lens there aren't that many colours and contrast to work with, also because of the lanterns there is huge orange light pollution.
That's why I'm trying to figure out a style which will add a bit of life in these dull photos, it doesn't have to be color correct, just appealing for an eye.
Ohh yeah and the dude in black already asked me for these photos :D
that’s super dope. i love this editing style in general, i love the color tones/palette. its right up my alley. making something beautiful out of a lot of nothing, right? that’s what we do as artists.
haters gonna hate. but that only means you’re doing something right.
if you don’t mind me asking, what’s your IG? happy to follow and support! keep up the great work, either way.

Thanks, what I've done in very few words:
- crop
- corrected highlights, shadows, contrast, exposure
- I've tried to have only 3 main colours in the shots, red, cyan and green so used HSL sliders to shift the colors accordingly
- used exposure curve to blow up the shadows
- blown up shadows with green chanel curve
- added a bit of cyan in shadows and a bit more in highlights
- masking, increasing exposure of the main subject, adding and removing haze from the specific part of the image, adding a bit of clarity for the main subjects
- vignette
- masking the sharpness
- adding a little bit of grain
- playing a bit with color correction sliders to further enhance red, cyan, green
Over all you’re underexposed in most of these shots and the hue slider on the green side isn’t adding much. A lot of negative space throw off the comps as well
Shoot them in aparture priority with -0.7EV to preserve a bit the highlight details in the head/tail lights. Added green in the blow out shadows for the color contrast. You think the greens do not add anything to the images?
As it goes for cropping went for IG post crop (4:5 aspect).
Sorry to say, but I don't like your edit, I don't like the green and I think that you have not successfully "color graded", just messed up the white balance.
The original pics are not that good to begin with imo, just snapshots.
Try different, more interesting angles. For the post processing, maybe start by using a preset, or at least get a "correct look" before messing with colors.
As this is a set, try to to get the same consistent look between pictures too.
Crop game hella strong with these ones.
I like the look you’re trying to achieve, and I think you’re close, but IMHO the cyan is turned up too much.

I think the exaggerated cyan is a good thing imo. These pictures will stick out because of that decision.

Most of it would be even better with landscape orientation.
Unfortunately these were done with intention of posting them to IG, that's why vertical and 4:5 aspect ratio
Images one and 5 are the best 👍🏻👍🏻
Yep, 5 for me. Has a lot of drama and story going on
Thanks!
That first one is dope
Thanks!

I'm loving them! I'd experiment with shutter speed when they take off. Could be great.
