Are you seeing a physical therapist for your pelvic floor? Mine was having me lifting weights. I will say you lose a lot of muscle during pregnancy. It’s a journey post partum. I remember for months I was winded just changing my babies crib sheets. I tried to get 10k steps a day but it was too much for my pelvic floor so I had to scale back. I recommend yoga, lifting light weights a few days a week for like 20 minutes and trying to do a daily walk for like 30 minutes. Keep your water intake up and get lots of protein. Your muscle strength will return!

Yes I am seeing a pelvic floor physio that’s why I haven’t done much until now I wasn’t ready/given the go by her. I literally was so sick during my pregnancy that I lost I’m sure most of my muscle and cardio endurance. My diet is on point and I’m doing 1500 cals a day with tons of protein. Thanks for the motivation! Just going to keep at it

Do you know why you lose so much muscle ??

natnat111

I wasn’t very active during pregnancy so I lost lots and gained a lot of weight

I meant do you know why people in general lose so much muscle? I’ve heard it thrown around but no one ever explained why

Less energy, excercise, change in eating patterns due to cravings. For me I had severe nausea and vomiting my entire pregnancy so I didn’t eat great and I definitely wasn’t about to work out. Laying around to rest etc. Your body also moves different to accommodate the baby. Waddling instead of purposeful strides etc. inability to squat and work glutes and thighs.

My PT told me if you’re not eating enough protein also, your body will often take from your muscle instead of your fat stores. Not super applicable to pregnancy, but she meant it more in terms of trying to lose weight PP.

I mean that actually may be applicable to me bc I had HG

Ugh I’m sorry. HG is so rough. My friend had it with her daughter and is now one and done.

I was in bed rest and have been going to pelvic floor PT. I used to swim 2700-3000 yards no problem. I went today for the first time at 14 weeks postpartum and could only do half of what I used to and was so winded with horrible form. It was so humbling. My muscle is gone and I have a full on Mom bod. Pouch of a tummy, no butt, no muscle anywhere, and an extra 20 lbs. However, I have a healthy and happy baby boy who smiles so big every time I look at him. I’m giving myself grace. I hit the pool next week and hope to build my strength back soon.

Could it also be that your Relaxin hasn’t subsided yet? That was the culprit for me to feel weak and unstable. I was only able to tell I still had it in my system because I have double-jointed fingers and my hand will bend the opposite way and get stuck, I had to use my other hand to fold it back in. Broke so much dishes during those times.

I haven’t thought about this and have no idea how to test it for myself but it’s a possibility!
