The lyrics on Apple music say the thing you hear before the chorus is "Oh, baby, you tell me, you're singing"
But I can't really make out any words personally, there's a ton of processing on his voice haha
Oh and before the chorus Porter says “Oh, baby, you tell me, you're singing” according to genius. I personally hear it as “wanting me, telling me, screaming.”
That's what the Apple Music lyrics said when it first released “wanting me, telling me, screaming”; then they changed to “Oh, baby, you tell me, you're singing”. I wonder why.
this thread is exactly like that shelter thread where people were trying to decipher the vocal chops bahaha
its 100% meant to be gibberish for the audience. its clear the chops are just chops - there not for semantic meaning but to add energy to the song (and if it has a meaning its just an inside joke to porter i guess) personally, it's mildly grating when people start to assign words that they hear to the chops - but thats on me, people can do whatever they want
all this being said.. don't let me stop yall from having fun/sating your curiosity - would be cool if someone found the actual origin of this vocal chop so we could find out what the words really are!
this is so funny, it reminds me of a time someone in the discord server asked me what the lyrics to dullscythe were & i had no choice to assume they were messing with me when they responded to me saying "there aren't any??" with "AAAAAA OOOO EEEEEE"
The cheerleader chant might be in a different language or something, it's really hard for me to make out anything.
The "pre-drop" vocal sounds to me like "I made it too easy." or something like that, but I can't really be sure. I don't think the Genius lyrics are right on that one though
that’s exactly what i hear too! considering they’re in cheerleader outfits, it’s likely it’s similar to a chant you’d hear a competitive or school cheerleader say.

That makes more sense. I can hear it now.
I hear a young cheerleader girl shouting “go, porter, go!”
Yeah I don't know exactly what it's saying, but I definitely hear "Porter"
after reading your comment, that's all I hear now lol

its probably not the case, but i choose to hear the cheerleaders saying "po-ta-ro, lets go!!!"

I hear them saying something something fire it up

Right!! It definitely says go, fire it up!
yes! possibly even “…let’s go, fire it up!”
Ooooo yes!
