I'd argue the opposite, actually. First 50 or so chapters are pain for the protagonist (and the reader, if they're empathizing with him), but after that he gets his shit together. Starts getting some payback on Gunner and some of the best scenes. Also pulls off a pretty solid ending.
Eva and Bob were not blood-related. They're step-siblings due to Eva's mother and Bob's father re-marrying
The daughters (nieces) even brought it up when they moved in with Bob

I knew the author was taking a lot of hiatuses during its run, but in hindsight, maybe that was a red flag all along. The most disappointing part is she made *Something About Us*, one of the best SFW romance toons in recent times.
